We all know I rock the whole Tuxedo (black and white) thing. But I think I rock the red and white thing pretty well too!
So how much snow did we get? A whole lot. Maybe 18" or so (41cm). Mom says it will melt quick, but I think she's hoping. It's a lot colder than it usually is in March.

Terrible Thursday
This is what it looked like when Mom got home from day hunting last night. The weather guys say we are supposed to get as much as 1 - 3 inches overnight. We'll see what it looks like in the morning, but Mom has already said a lot of the werds on the bad werds list. She put her snow shovels and windshield scrapers and brushes in the shed the day before yesterday. She had to get them all out again!
Mother Nature sure does have a funny sense of humor.
This is what it looks like outside this morning. Thank Bast we didn't get three inches. I think Mom might have exploded or something.
Mom's not too worried though. This is the weather report for the next few days. (Notice how the temperature never gets below freezing for any of these days.) Mom says it will melt, and it will melt in April. Mom has NEVER seen any snow on the ground in this area in May. In the mountains, maybe, but not here, in Southern New Hampster.
Of course, she's never seen a purple cow either.

Wondering When
Mom and I are gathering weather data so we can help you with your When When Contest guesses.
OK, Mom's been gathering data on the computer, I've just been looking outside.
The average High temperature for January around here is 33F. This year the average high was 29F.
The average Low temperature for January around here is 12F. This year it was 7.6F
The average High temperature for February around here is 34F. The numbers aren't in yet for this year, but so far we are almost 30 degrees colder than normal, on average.
The average Low temperature for February around here is 16F. Again, the lows have been a lot lower than normal.
The average High temperature for March around here is between 43 and 45F.
The average Low temperature for March around here is between 22 and 24F.
The snow will melt, and it will melt this year. When will it all melt? We don't know. Mom says that if she had entered the When When Contest, she would have lost every year, so your guess is as good as ours. The Contest will start on Sunday, March 1.
Get ready!

Still. More. Snow.
This was the view outside our front windows this morning as the sun was coming up. Four inches (10cm) of the fluffy white stuff fell again last night. How much snow is there? Too darn much, according to Mom. Can Spring really be thirty days away?
The good news is the When When Contest will start on Sunday March 1. Stay tuned, kits and cats!

Snowed In Sunday
I've had it.
This is looking out the kitchen window. (Yes, I know the pile is bigger because the snow was pushed off the roof, but still.) The indoor/outdoor thermometer is buried in the snow, and is registering a "toasty" 27.5 degrees F, but Mom says it's really 17F outside.
The snow is so deep, it covers the bushes outside the front window.
We don't have a carport, we have a car tunnel.
I surrender.
When will the snow STOP?

Too Much Thursday
Too much what, you wonder? Too much snow, of course. We are supposed to get more tonight and we might have another big snowstorm over the weekend.
The only way to deal with it is to find a good place to nap.

Got Snow.
We have lots of snow.
lots and LOTS of snow.
We have icicles too.
The snow is so high, it reaches the bottom of the kitchen window.
Yeah, it's pretty and all that stuff, but Mom and everybody else in New Hampster is totally over it. We'll give it away to anybody who wants it.

Still. Snowing.
It's still snowing.
Even Mom has given up and she stayed home from day hunting today.
It's not that we haven't had this much snow before, it's just that this is the most snow we've ever had in just two weeks.
It WILL melt. You know, eventually.

Finally Friday
Mom and I are both happy the weekend is almost here. She wants a few days to relax. Last weekend she taught a class on Saturday and then watched the Super Bowl on Sunday and she says both those things stressed her out. Of course, the almost two feet of snow we got this week didn't help.
And guess what, kits and cats? We have what the weather guys are calling a "long snow event" coming over the weekend into Monday. That means more snow, although it won't fall as heavily. And it will be furry, furry cold, so it won't be any fun to go outside.
Not that that bothers me. Mom says the heating monster has just been fed so our house will be warm. (The heating monster eats green papers. That seems utterly ridiculous to me, but that's what Mom says.)
Here's what it looks like outside our house this morning. See how the snow is almost as high as that metal masheen? Yeah. And on these houses with almost flat roofs, that much snow isn't good. Remember I said the snowplow lady cleared ours off last weekend?
Well, she will have to do it again in another week. Some of our neighbors have had their roofs cleaned off too.
and others need it.
I have a front row seat to watch.
Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

More Damn Snow!!!
LOOKIT!!! MORE DAMN SNOW!
Mom got sent home from her day hunting gig after lunch, and she said it was terrible driving. She said it was almost "whiteout" conditions. She took this picture about 2:15 PM today, our time. We are supposed to get MORE of the stuff during the night.
Where am I, you ask?
Napping under a quilt.
I'm no dummy.

Tuxie Tuesday
Megan wanted to know how Mom was going to get the metal masheen out of the driveway yesterday.
Answer: Mom drove out. There was only an inch or so of snow, so it was easy.
I love napping on my little quilt. From here I can watch Mom as she tippy-taps. She didn't hold up any fingers last night, she just yakked on the telephone.
Why do I look so sad? The weather guys say we are supposed to get MORE SNOW this week. Enough all ready!!!

Tell All Tuesday
Mom and I have made a decision about the almost annual When When Contest.
When When will be!
Yes, it will start very soon, so be sure to check back every day for details. As usual entries will be taken for a few days, so put on your thinking caps and figure out when all this snow will melt!
They should be called "guessing caps" because I don't know when it's going to melt either.
Mom promises me it will.
toodles!

Exit Nemo
After Nemo left, the snowplows came by and our driveway got cleared and Mom dug the car out. This is what it looked like after all that stuff happened. If you biggify the picture, you can see how high the snowbank is. (It's about as high as the hood of the truck, which is why Mom included the truck in the picture.) Notice how you can't even see the stone wall across the street.
The big city snowplow pushed all the snow onto the sidewalk, so now the sidewalk has 30" of very hard packed heavy tough snow. Mom doesn't know if the sidewalk plow will be able to push through it. Anyway, the sun finally came out yesterday afternoon, but it was still very windy and cold.
Mom says we may yet have a When When Contest after all! Check back next week to find out for sure!

White Wednesday
This is what it looks like outside at 8 AM today. I asked Mom to take pictures during the day so you can all see the snow pile up! It's hard to see the street.
We got about four or five inches of snow yesterday, as you can see in the photo below, taken after Mom got home. Mom said the driving was a real "slip sliding away" adventure. (Not for her new metal masheen, though. She says it's great in snow.)
Lookit how much snow we are supposed to get today. (That's 20 - 35 cm)
Mom is staying home. She's not going out in the snow. That's okay with me, but I gotta say,
the heated cat cup is MINE!
(Mom can nap in her own bed.)
Thanks to Megan for alerting us about the enormous cyclone hitting Australia. Please send purrs to all the pusscats and their beans in stormy areas today.

Formerly Feral Friday - Too Much Snow
Mom decided to leave her day hunting gig early and work at home, which she did. The snow started almost exactly at 1:00 PM and ended at 9:00. Mom says we got 8 inches of snow, which means it fell an inch an hour. Which is a lot.
Mr Karate called about 4:15 and said to Mom, "Good. You're home. Stay there." There were stories of folks taking up to 2 hours to get home, where usually it would take 30 minutes.
Mom is glad she missed driving in the snow.
But she still had to shovel it.
I am -so- fortunate to be formerly feral. I have a great home. Nice and warm. And nobody ever expects me to shovel!
