normal and boring

Today's Petting Time: 1 minute 5 seconds (not all at once)

Today was an OK day. It was sunny outside. I watched some birds out the window. I hung out with Gizzy in the cat hammock. I harassed Jasmine and chased her some and she chased me some. The Lady gave me some beef stinky goodness along with my crunchies today. I let her do that rubbing thing on my neck that I like. After she came home from hunting, I even let her rub my head a bit before she even fed us. A little bit.

She watched the guys named Pat last night. They aren't all named Pat. One is Tom, another is Tedy, and there's a Rodney and a Matt and a lot of others I can't remember. She really thinks the Bellychek guy is wicked smart and she likes the Kraft guy too. I dunno why they call it football, that guy Tom was throwing it all over the place. Bang, bang, bang. I don't think the Vikings were having fun playing with the Pats.

She went to bed late, and BOTH Gizzy and Jasmine wanted to sleep on the bed with her. Of course it gets colder at night now, and it's warm on the bed with her, so they both sleep with her. And of course Jasmine wouldn't let me be with them. She keeps looking for my crunchies. She can't get 'em. Heh.

Pet Me?

Remember how I told you how Jasmine's been eating my crunchies? The Lady figured out a way to stop that. She put my bowl of crunchies on the kitchen counter. I'm the only cat that can jump up there. Heh.

Today I let the Lady pet me when I was not near my food. I really like that thing she does to my neck. I guess I'm going to have to start listing the time I let her pet me. Like Matthew's corner time. So far, the average time I let her pet me is about 10 seconds. So all you folks that think I'm getting closer to being a "lap cat" to the Lady, don't you be holding your breath till it happens.

chilly chili pesto pesto

The weather here today was sunny and cold and windy. Us cats each found nice warm spots and napped. The Lady was busy in the kitchen. She was taking stuff out of the cupboards and then putting it back in again. How crazy is that? She took all the stuff off the counters and then put it all back on. O-kay. I don't get it, but now there's lots of empty space so I have plenty of places to land when I jump up there.

She made some food stuff, I think she called it hoomus and then she made some red stuff she called pesto. I dunno, this summer she made pesto and it was green. So which is it?

Once she got finished rearranging all her stuff, she says, It's so chilly out, I think I'm going to make some chili. It will be nice and hot and it will be good on a cold day like this.

Excuse me? I'm confused again. Pesto can be both red and green, apparently; and Chili/chilly can also be both hot and cold?

I'm so glad I'm a cat.

No pictures...

Brilliant Mr Gizzy decided to jump on the side table next to the Lady last night and knock over her glass of water. It fell all over some books and papers and her little digital camera. She tried to dry it out and get all the water out of it right away, but today it would not work. So she has to figure out what's going on with that. She isn't very happy with Gizzy right now, 'specially cause she just bought some of that very spiffy food that Max was talking about. She bought three different kinds (and none of them was Beef!) and set it out for us. I tried some of each one and liked it. But because of Mr I-Can't-Wait, nobody is gonna see any pictures.

It sure is a good thing I like Gizzy.

(The Lady says she will be able to borrow her sister's digital camera, because she has two. That's better. The Lady will go get it tomorrow, so there will be pictures.)

Nice to have THAT out of the way. I wanted to tell you the Lady put a Mission Statement on my website. You should check it out. I'll put a link on my sidebar in a few minutes. Anyway, I think the mission statement is pretty neat. I found a... well, you go check it out! Also, roll your mouse over the links to see my little comments about what the link is. I did that on some of the links in my sidebar here too. (To see an example, roll your mouse over the Mission Statement link.)

Tomorrow afternoon (Yes, Sunday in the middle of the day) is the time for Trick or Treating here. Now say what you want about kids' having to trick or treat in the middle of the day on a day that isn't actually Halloween, the Lady says it's a lot safer.

Me? I don't need no stinkin' costume.

this and that

The Lady registered my own domain and put up a web page. You can go check it out here if you want. Here's something I don't understand. The cat's tail is supposed to wag. If you see it wagging, post a comment.

She also found an article in an online newspaper about a ban on black cat adoptions around Halloween. I was wondering if anybody had heard of this in other places. It is to protect black cats from getting abused. I never knew that black cats are adopted less often than other cats. I think black cats are very handsome (think of Buddah and the other Midnights). In fact, when the Lady was a little girl, she had an all black cat that was called Inky.

Here is a picture of me on the windowsill in the kitchen. I was chattering at some birds I saw in the big big tree outside.

By the way, I am nowhere near as big as Gizzy. He weighs 14 pounds, and I only weigh 5 pounds. I am a lot skinnier than he is.

Formerly Feral Friday # 2

You would not think I am formerly feral if you came to visit me now. I am quite curious about new people, and I even sniff their hands. I let them play with me and give me treats. The Lady can pet me now when I am waiting to be fed, and I don't mind getting close to her. I like it when she gives me scritches on my neck. I even purr for her. I greet her at the door when she gets back from hunting every day, and I follow her around and watch as she gets my dinner ready. If she isn't moving fast enough, I mew to encourage her. She's learning.

WTH Blogger?

Geez, What was with Blogger last night? William thought it musta yakked up a furball. I think it musta got locked outta the house or something.

Anyways, the Lady (who's been studying h-t-m-l) actually registered a domain and soon I'm gonna have my very own website.

I have a coupla questions....

What's a domain?
What's a website?

(I already know what h-t-m-l is. It stands for Hypertext Markup Language. I'm not interested in knowing more, because my brain is the size of a small walnut and I have to keep room for the really important things like how I hafta act to get the Lady to give me some beef stinky goodness, where's a nice warm place to sleep, how to avoid Jasmine and that kinda stuff.)

She says I shouldn't get all hepped up about it, because it's only a test and it isn't gonna be forever.

What's a test?
Why isn't it gonna be forever?

In other, more important notes, the big cats have been eating my crunchies. I know it's OCP (Older Cat Privilege), but I still don't like it.

And I found this totaly awesome window. Only I can reach it, because it's over the kitchen counter and I'm the only cat that can jump up there. It's gi-normous and it faces the sun. I am pretty sure the Lady will get some pictures as soon as she can.

The Lady Ruins Beef

You know how much I love beef. I've only said so a squillion times. The Lady likes beef too, but not as much as me. She doesn't cook it as often as I think she should (which is every day.) Of course, I don't even think she needs to cook it, but she never asks me.

Tonight she had beef for dinner. Oooh, I thought, goodie. Beef. She cut it up, and gave me a couple of tiny pieces. Of course I had asked very politely. It was very red and runny, and it was so good. Then she put in on a big peoples plate in top of some yukky rabbit food. The green crunchy kind. Then she added some more rabbit food. The small round one that is red on the outside and white on the inside. She cut off the ends and sliced it up thin and stuck it all over the glorious beef. Then she took the really stinky stuff, also red, cut that up, broke it up into circles and put that on top of the beef. I started crying, practically, at what she was doing.

She went outside to get some really stinky green rabbit food. She called it RooGalla. Yick. That stuff is really nasty. She stuck that on the beef. Then she cut up some more rabbit food and stuck that on top. She took some wax beans out of the cold box and cooked those and put those on the beef. YECH! I couldn't watch. I had to go sit under the table in the table room.

But she wasn't even finished wrecking that beautiful beef. She took some cheese, and you all know how much I love cheese... she took this cheese, and I thought it might be good so I went over to see, and it smelled so stinky I almost fell over. It was horrible. It was blue! She put that all over the stuff on top of the beef.

I couldn't help myself, but I had to watch. She took some tiny red balls out of the cold box, cut those in half and spread them all over the other stuff. Then she took that thing she uses every day that sprinkles dirt, and she sprinkled dirt on the pile of stuff. Then she took the other thing that sprinkles sand, and she put that on too.

Then she took something else out of the cold box, It was like water, but it was brown and really sour stinky smelly. She dribbled it all over everything. She put all the rabbit food back in the cold box, put the people tools in the dishbox and poured herself a glass of milk and got a piece of that brown stuff and then sat at the table and started to eat.

Doesn't this look delicious Millie? This is going to be so good. Do you know what it is? It's a nice roast beef salad with romaine and arugula, radishes and red onions with cucumbers, wax beans, tomatoes and blue cheese with balsamic dressing.

That's what she thinks. To me it's a complicated way to ruin good beef. My heart ached so much, I just had to go into the other room. I don't know if I'll ever get over it.

The Stove

The Lady yelled at me the other day. I mean really YELLED! She screamed at me. She kept yelling and screaming NO NO NO! I ran far away. I didn't like that at all. I was in the kitchen and she was cooking. Later she told me that I could not get on the stove any time no matter WHAT.

Now you kitties don't have to tell me why I shouldn't get on the stove, cuz both Gizzy and Jasmine have been telling me over and over again that it's hot and it's dangerous. The Lady has been making sure I get it by banging on the stove and making a heck of a ruckus while saying NO over and over again whenever I get too close.

It's hard though. Today she made something called a frit, frit-tut, frit-ta-tut, frita, oh whatever. I know it had eggs and ham (which I wanted), and cheese (which I also wanted) and some onions (which I most certainly did NOT want) and some other stuff. It smelled up the whole house. But she didn't give us cats any.

Then she put some meat on a pan and stuck that in a box in the stove. That smelled really really good, and I wanted it. Then she took it out of the oven, and put it in this thing on the counter. She added all kinds of stupid stuff, like wine (ick) and tomatoes (yech). That's been smelling up the place all day, and it smells REALLY good.

I spent a lot of time in this nice basket with some clean warm stuff in it. At least I can do this without getting into any trouble.

Pretty Millie

The Lady actually opened up a tiny can of stinky goodness last night for dinner. And it was BEEF! I love beef. She divided it up so Gizzy and Jasmine could have some, but they didn't get as much as I did. Oh, it was SO good.

She pets me while I eat. I don't mind. Much. She does this thing to my neck though, that's kinda nice... I purr when she does it. I guess that means she'll do it more often.

After dinner she got her spiffy little camera out and balanced it on a pillow to take more pictures without the flashy thing. I'm letting her get closer. But I keep watch and if she moves her hands too close, I move away.

Mr Karate came over, and I played with him a little bit. I didn't let him touch me, but I didn't hide either.

Oh, it's been a long day. I need a nap.

Formerly Feral Friday

When I tell my friends that I now have three cats, they all want to know why I decided to get a third cat when I've had two cats for over 13 years. I say, "It's a really long story. My new cat is famous."

"Uh huh, " they all say. "Yeah, right."

So I have to tell the story. I start with
Jasmine's illness three years ago, and then launch into the story of how I discovered Malcolm and little No Name Yet from Max's blog. I tell them how I read the blog, and contributed. They all say, "Wow, what an amazing story!" But it isn't over. No Name Yet got a new name, Millie. Millie needed a home, and ultimately I decided to adopt her.

I have read some snarky comments about "the cat who got hit by the car and was rescued by a guy who couldn't afford her vet bill..." but obviously this person didn't read the story. To me the best part of this story is that a community of cat lovers rescued a female feral cat. Millie is one cat that won't be adding to the feral cat population. She is in a good home, where she will live a good life, and enrich the life of her owner.

Of course, the story continues. I had to start a blog so Millie's wonderful extended family could follow her adventures. I'm a fairly private person, and I don't buy into the idea of keeping a personal journal out in public where anybody can read it. And to blog as a cat? That idea just struck me as so ... juvenile. But Malcolm had expressed hope that I would start a blog for her, so I emailed Max's mom for advice. "Stay true to her voice..." was the excellent and most helpful reply.

When my friends actually look at the blog, they all express amazement. "I can't believe how many comments... omigod, your cat really IS famous."

You are all part of this wonderful story, and I am profoundly grateful. Millie is too, I am quite sure.

Let's celebrate all the Formerly Ferals who've overcome many obstacles and settled into a life of domesticity.

-- the Lady

update at 8:00 pm on Friday...

I did not anticipate what telling Millie's feral story would bring. It never occurred to me that other Formerly Ferals would tell their stories as well. As I read through them today, I was often brought to tears.

Certainly I have benefitted from the generosity of Millie's benefactors. But what amazes me each day is the outpouring of love and affection from people all over the country and the world. Millie has received gifts, and I have received tremendous support and many helpful suggestions in helping "domesticate" Millie from the cat blogging community. I have been thrilled to read comments from bloggers who say, "I read your blog every day, I look forward to it." And I feel I deep responsibility to do the right thing with Millie, and to keep her extended family "in the loop."

The comment from Anonymous this evening -- who recently adoped a Siamese cat from a horrific situation and thought of Millie and Gizzy when things got tough -- just takes my breath away. This cat is now learning to be a lap cat!

All I did was agree to adopt a cat and tell the story of her life.

"All"

It just reminds me that the most important thing we do in Life is to be good to each other. We often do not know how that can change the world.

I may have started out to tell one cat's story, but I find now that I continue because I truly enjoy being a part of this incredible community.

Hell freezes over in NH

I didn't think I'd ever see it. All three cats eating in the kitchen at the same time. That's Gizzy at the upper left, Jasmine just below him and our Darling Millie on the right.

And yes, those tails ARE touching.

Make no mistake, however. Jasmine does not consider Millie a friend, and the two of them hiss and fight daily.

Formerly Ferals

Hi! I am so excited. I was just visiting Mrs B and Bubbles and I got this idea. We are all formerly ferals! Howzabout we have a Formerly Ferals Friday? The black cats have Midnight Monday, the Tuxies have Tuxie Tuesday (or is it the Torties?), the white cats have Wednesdays... and I know I am forgetting somecats... (like the gorgeous gingers). Howzabout we formerly ferals post our lovely pictures for all the world to see on Fridays?

Whaddya think? I'm gonna make the Lady take a real special picture of me for this coming Friday.

watch the clock

The Lady wears this metal bracelet. I told you about it. When she goes to bed, she puts it on her nightstand. She only takes it off when she goes to bed. Well, she puts it on after she gets out of that big water box, but anyway. Gizzy says it's a watch. Watch what? It's a clock. So why isn't it just called a clock? Come to think of it, the Lady has clocks all over the house. She has one in the bedroom, right near her bed. She has three in the table room, (One is on the VCR. I'd ask what's a VCR, but Gizzy says never mind.) She has one in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, one in the sewing room, one in the picture box room and one in the studio. And of course there's one on the computer, but you can only see it when it's on. Gizzy says there's even one in the car. (car?)

So why do peoples have so many clocks and why are some tiny clocks called watches? And how come you can watch a clock, but you can't clock a watch? I can watch Gizzy, but I don't have a metal bracelet like the Lady. And she can watch me without the metal bracelet (or watch).

I can tell the time without a watch. There's breakfast time, nap time, snack time, nap time, bath time, nap time, play time, nap time, lunchtime, nap time, play time, nap time, bath time, nap time, dinner time, nap time and, apparently, Lady time.

And bed time.

Beats me.

I think I need a nap.

And I don't care what time it is.

The Rug Sucking Monster

Gizzy was right. She brought out the Rug Sucking Monster today. I had a few clues. Can you figure them out by looking at the pictures?

Yeah, the Lady moved all kinds of stuff off the floor.
She piled it on the bed, on the worktable and outside the litterbox room.

Then the rug sucking started. I ran and hid under the bureau in the studio.

It started in the sewing room. Then it moved to the litterbox room and she even got some stinky stuff to spread on the floor in there. The rug sucking stopped, and I thought it was safe to come out, so I looked around cautiously. The stuff was back where it belonged in the sewing room. I saw the rug sucker moving so I ran to hide under the Lady's bed. Wrong! The rug sucking started up again right near where I was hiding, so I took off to find another safe place.

I found Gizzy in the cat hammock in the sewing room so I joined him. The Lady found us and closed the door to that room. I felt much better, even though I could hear the rug sucker still sucking.

"Millie," Gizzy says to me, "you don't have to be afraid of it. The rug sucking machine won't eat you. Its mouth isn't even big enough. It just makes noise."

I told him it makes the floor bounce and that scares me.

"Yeah, but it stops. There are a couple of other things you should know. Once the rug sucker is finished in one room, it won't come back."

I hadn't thought of that before. But he's right.

"Another thing that happens is that your toy basket gets full of toys after the Lady is finished sucking the rug. Have you noticed that yet?"

Do the toys come out of the rug sucker, I wanted to know.

Gizzy chuckled and licked my head and ear. "No, the Lady finds them in places where they got stuck and she puts them back in your toy basket. So when she's done, you have more toys."

I sure am glad Gizzy is my pal. I still don't like the rug sucking monster, but now that I know a few things about it, I feel a little better.

P.S. I have a new profile picture. Do you like it?

All Cats Day

Looky! Cats have a special Holiday! Whee! This should be a day where all cats get as much stinky goodness and treats as they want. They should be able to get new toys and be able to sleep in all the nice warm spots and get all the loving and petting they can get (if they want it).

'Course only the cats with nice homes are gonna be able to celebrate. Feral cats have a much harder life. Ask me how I know this. I was one of the lucky ones. Tomorrow is National Feral Cat Day, and you can go to their linky to see how you can help and to get information about feral cats. Their site is full of good information. You can even buy stuff to show you care.

late night, busy day

The Lady finished the flowered jacket last night. I mean this morning. She went to bed really late. I mean, ah... never mind. I bet you get it.

Of course WE didn't care how little sleep she had had when our breakfast time rolled around. We were all playing on the bed trying to wake her up. I knocked that metal bracelet she wears off the nightstand. When I jumped down to play with it, I couldn't find it. Anyway, that finally woke her up and she stumbled into the kitchen to feed us all. Then she went back to bed. Later I watched her as she crawled around to look for it. Turns out I was pretty good. The thing had landed inside her slipper.

Mr Karate came over and they made some great smelling food. I think roast beast was involved, but I am not really comfortable with people other than the Lady so I stayed hidden under the couch. I heard Mr Karate talk about a picnic and a girlfriend. I don't know what either of those things are, so you will (again) have to use your imagination.

After he left, the Lady cleaned all the dishes and then took a cloth and rubbed it all over everything, the tables, the shelves, the picture boxes, the bureaus, the desk. I watched her very closely. People sure are weird. Gizzy told me to watch out -- that she'd be bringing in the rug-sucking monster next.

That didn't happen, but there's always tomorrow.

Stinky Goodness!!!

The Lady brought a tiny can of BEEF stinky goodness home tonight. I LOVE Beef. She said it was just for ME! I was so excited, I danced around her feet and meowed as she opened the can and put it in a bowl.

She put it next to my crunchies and I started eating. Then Gizzy came over and started eating some. I don't mind sharing with my bestest pal. But you know, he is bigger than me, and when he stuck his head in the bowl, there wasn't a lot of room left for me. I was very polite and nudged him over a bit. But he seemed to like it as much as I did, and he really wanted more. Of course I didn't want to just push him away and get in a fight. He is so much bigger than me; he would win. And I really wanted that stinky goodness.

The Lady noticed and put some in another bowl just for me. I finished mine, but Gizzy left some in his bowl. So I went back and got it all. It sure was good.

She's a nice Lady. I'm a lucky kitty.

I'm Lucky Darling Sphinxie Millie!

Sphinx

The Lady is done with her class. She came home early, but then left again and when she came back she smelled woofy. Her Mom has a woofy. It was nice and warm this afternoon, and they went for a walk.

Then she came home and fed us dinner and cooked something stinky to eat for herself. Gah-lic... Eeew!

Then she went in the sewing room and did some sewing on the new coat with the flowers. I watched for a while then came into the picture box room to rest. She says I almost look like a sphinx. What's a sphinx?

She says I can either Google it or look it up in Wikipedia. I could, but I'm not that interested.

My Turf

I know I'm the littlest cat here, and I know I'm not the boss cat, but that doesn't mean I can't make a play for my own turf.

The tops of all the cushy chairs -- those are my spots. They are my spots because nobody else even tries to get up there.

The Lady managed to grab a picture of me as I climbed up the back of her chair. That's the top of her head. Heh.

New Tricks

The Lady has been studying something called MSSQL 2005 Server. She's been muttering about triggers, and events and profilers and tracers. Last night it was backups, transaction logging, differentials and restoring. I think she's losing her mind.

She came home late tonight, but she brought three different kinds of stinky goodness. I wasn't interested in any of them. I am not interested in Lobster or Halibut or Shrimp. I like Meat. Gizzy wasn't picky. He ate some of each.

I have also been learning some new tricks, and the Lady caught me with her camera, so you can see. In one of these, I have run up the back of the recliner. In the other, I am looking to find a push pin I can pull off the wall to play with. The Lady doesn't like it when I play with these. As soon as she hears me batting one of these around, she comes running. (oh yeah, that's the new jacket she's been working on.)

Questions for a small mind... (mine)

Can you see the three of us cats on the Lady's bed? Of course you can't. Gizzy is the big lump between Jasmine and I. He's under the covers. Which is and isn't surprising. It -isn't- surprising because he loves being under the covers and often goes there right after breakfast. It -is- surprising because this day was sunny, and warm. So warm the Lady had the windows open. So why any cat would want to get under a down comforter on an almost 80 degree day is totally beyond me. (click the picture to biggify.)

Of course, why Jasmine didn't put up a fuss that -I- was on the bed is another question.

Are you a Dog or a Cat?

OK, I'll bite. I've seen this quiz going around the cat blogosphere and I decided to take it. I am quite pleased to see that I am more of a cat. I mean like, Duh!

You Are: 20% Dog, 80% Cat

You are are almost exactly like a cat.
You're intelligent, independent, and set on getting your way.
And there's no way you're going to fetch a paper for anyone!

Next Gizzy took it. Looky! He's more like a Dog! Of course, he's so laid back he doesn't even care what the test showed.

You Are: 70% Dog, 30% Cat

You and dogs definitely have a lot in common.
You're both goofy, happy, and content with the small things in life.
However, you're definitely not as needy as the average dog. You need your down time occasionally.

I had to really beg Jasmine to take it. Nobody should be surprised at her score. She is most definitely a Cat.

You Are: 30% Dog, 70% Cat

You and cats have a lot in common.
You're both smart and in charge - with a good amount of attitude.
However, you do have a very playful side that occasionally comes out!

Changes and Imagination

There have been some changes here. The Lady moved my food dishes into the kitchen. My dishes are on the other side of the room from Gizzy and Jasmine's food dishes. And I'm not getting stinky goodness anymore.

She also moved my small litterbox from under a table in the sewing room to the bathroom. The bathroom is where the big litterbox is too. My small litterbox is in a nice protected spot.

The Lady is making more effort to pet me at different times. When she gets back from hunting during the week (this is where I assume she goes, but she must be pretty lousy at it, because she never brings back anything good), she always pets Gizzy and Jasmine and gives them scritches and kisses. She talks to me too, but I am not quite ready for that much physical attention from her. I let her pet me while I am eating. Now I purr loudly when I eat, and she seems to like that. I let her pet my head, scratch the top of my head, pet my whole back and sides, and run her hand along my tail. Every now and again I have to back up and take a good look at her, to make sure she's not gonna pick me up or anything. She tries to pet me when I am resting, but I never let her.

Turnabout is fair play, though. This morning she was sleeping late, and I jumped on the bed and walked all around her, and got quite close to her head. I even sat on the nightstand for a bit and watched her.

She says I do a lot of things that she'd like to take pictures of, but I'm too fast. By the time she gets the camera ready, I'm gone, so you have to use your imagination to figure out what a picture might look like. Here are some of them:

1. I have been known to sit on top of the litter box when Gizzy is in it.

2. I can drink running water from the faucet (tap) like Gizzy can.

3. I also dip my paw into the pool of water at the bottom of the sink to check it out. Apparently this is very weird for a cat. Whatever.

4. I am quite good at running from one end of the house to the other and sitting on the back of all the upholstered chairs, then running down.

5. I watch her closely when she works in the sewing room. Sometimes I sit on her work table and watch when she moves the fabric around. I watch when she runs it through that noisy machine. And I watch when the puts that hot thing on her stuff.

6. I observe when she digs in the litterboxes every day. I actually got in once while she was trying to clean it out.

7. I love chasing crumpled paper all around. That makes a great noise and is lots of fun.

8. She hangs a lot of stuff on a special wall in the sewing room with push pins. I am getting quite good at pulling these things out of the wall.

Heh.

Two-Month Gotcha Day Anniversary

It's my two-month Gotcha Day Anniversary, so how do we celebrate? Do I get steak? Do I get roast beast? Do I get special stinky goodness? Do I get a new toy?

No.

What I get is chased around the sewing room. She tried to catch me. She tried to bribe me. She tried to trick me. She had those thick black hands on. She even dragged Gizzy in and trimmed his claws while I watched. Ha ha, didn't work. I still have my nice sharp claws.

I guess she didn't like it much when I climbed up her pants and shirt to grab that measuring thing that dangles from her neck when she sews.

update on Friday~~
Gizzy says I hafta tell the truth. The Lady gave me some nice roast beast with my breakfast yesterday. And cheese. She gave me some cheese too. And she sang me a Happy Gotcha Day song.

Floral Millie

The Lady is a big fan of Project Runway (gee, there's a big surprise), so tonight she watched the picture box while cutting out the paper pattern pieces for another jacket.

I really like paper. I play with her papers on her computer table, on the eating table in the table room, and especially the paper pieces she has pinned on the wall in the sewing room. Tonight she tossed all the paper scraps on the floor so I could play with them.

You can see me in this picture. She's thinking of making another jacket with these big flowers. I dunno, I think she's kinda crazy. (Tim Gunn would say, "Make it work!" and I bet she will.)

Anyway, I was playing with the paper scraps on the floor and suddenly I was surrounded by these gigantic flowers.

You know, even though I still won't let the Lady touch me much, I like to hang out where she is.

buttons and buttonholes ~ BO-ring!

You'd think making buttonholes and sewing buttons would be quick - but N-o-o-o! The Lady added the buttonholes to her new jacket but didn't sew all the buttons on yet.

And she didn't play with me either. So I decided to hang out with my bestest pal, Gizzy.

I read Fat Eddy's blog and he has a funny story about waking his peeps up. Last night the Lady was in her bed sleeping and Gizzy and I were wrestling. He was growling really loud. We were making a lotta noise. The Lady got up, and came into the table room where we all were. "That's Enough!" She grabbed Jasmine, who was sitting on the blue recliner, and went back into the bedroom and closed the door. She must have thought I was pestering Jasmine and took her into her bedroom to keep me from bothering her.

Except it was Gizzy I was pestering!

Monday

The Lady came home tonight and cleaned the table in the table room and the rest of the room too. Then she did ALL the dirty dishes, which was pretty much all the dishes she has. Then she did some "laundry." Then she made herself dinner (it was pork and I got some). THEN she did a little sewing, but not with the machine. She did it with a piece of fine string and she put a real neat shiny thing on one finger. I wanted it, but she wouldn't let me get it.

She is making a jacket. There is a story about why she's making a jacket. She is always cold at her work. Even in summer. So she likes jeans jackets. Or jackets like that. She saw a neat one at the PEM gift shop last week that gave her the idea of making one.

Now, I have to tell you a "back story." The Lady has lost 40 pounds. She "made Lifetime" this summer, right after I got my leg fixed. And since she lost so much weight (I mean, that's 8 of me, where did it go?), she needed ALL new clothes, since nothing fit anymore. When she sews, she has to keep her hands clean, and that means no snacking on things that will make her not skinny (and she LOVES being thin), and she says sewing relieves stress... (now frankly, I think she could use more naps...) so she decided to make a jacket. (Except I'm pretty sure she's gonna make more than one. She already has plans for at least two more in her head...)

She says it isn't finished, but it looks done to me. She says it needs buttons and buttonholes. Anyway, here it is.

She says to tell you all that she has been sewing since she was in 4th grade, and that was a really really really long time ago.

otherwise engaged

The Lady was working in the sewing room ALL day again. She had the little picture box in there going. She watched a movie, some decorating shows, the guys named Pat and then one where the clock kept ticking. The thing she is making finally looks familiar, but it isn't quite finished. She hasn't gone near any of her computers all weekend, hardly. She didn't even take the silver lapbox out of its case!!!

I hung out with her. Except I napped in the cat hammock and watched the rain outside. In some strange weird way, I think we both had a great day.
