Yup, Mom, Mim-may and me will be going on a road trip to Syracuse NY. It's what Mom calls a "bump and run" trip, which means we drive all the way over there, stay a little while, and then drive all the way back home.
I'm excited. I'm gonna go visit a new place and see all kinds of cool quilts, get some souvenirs and meet all kinds of fun people.
Woot!

Thoughtful Thursday
Uh oh. Something's up. Mom said something about Sirra-cuse and going to see her quilt, The Black Box, which is pretty funny, considering she already knows what it looks like. It won't be right away, and Mim-may is coming with us.

Not Wordless Wednesday
A lot of folks do not understand why I do not like it when my Mom walks onto the porch when I am already there. I would like to explain.
When Mom adopted me, I was about sixteen weeks old and I was a feral kit. I had never been handled by people until I was twelve weeks old, and that means I never had the opportunity to know they could be OK. It is a fact that a kitten that has not been exposed to people touch before twelve weeks will always be "feral," and rarely will such a kit grow up to be a people cat.
I am, and always will be, a feral.
My V-E-T says Mom has done an exceptional job with me. (I beg to differ. I believe it is the other way around, but neither one of them understands Cat, so what can I do?) I love my Mom. I sit next to her, sometimes I even sleep next to her. Occasionally I have been known to sit on her lap. I let her give me scritches. Sometimes I let her brush my furs, but not often.
Mom cannot touch me with both hands at once. She cannot touch my feet or my belly. (When we visited her friend Kathy in Maine a few weeks ago, Kathy asked how did Mom trim my claws. Answer: Mom doesn't.) In short, Mom cannot get me to do anything SHE wants me to do.
Mom cannot pick me up, and can count on one hand the number of times she has done so in the almost nine years I have lived with her. (Think about that. Mom CANNOT pick me up. I don't let her.)
To get me to the V-E-T, Mom has to chase me around the house. I hiss, and I scratch. I do not like being chased.
I never sleep with my back to Mom. In fact, Mom has never seen me sleep totally stretched out and relaxed. She thinks I must do it when she is away day-hunting. I'll never tell.
I am no dummy. I never put myself anyplace that does not have an escape route. If Mom comes into a room where I am napping and closes the door, I am instantly awake, and aware. I do not like it if ANYBODY blocks my escape route. I will always leave the area.
THAT'S why I hiss at Mom when she comes onto the porch when I am already there. She is blocking my escape route, and that makes me uncomfortable. If she is already on the porch, then it's OK for me to be there too, because my escape route is not blocked.
P.S., I do have a microchip so if I get out or get lost, if I get caught, I will be able to get back to Mom. Of course, the operative phrase is "if I get caught."

Tuxie Tuesday
I do not like getting INTO boxes, but that doesn't mean I don't like them. I like this little box. It was full of good smells, and I really checked it out quite thoroughly.

Surprising Thursday
Mom was on the porch, and I went out there to join her. So now there's proof. If she's there first, I will join her. But if I am there first, I have it to myself.

Almost Wordless Wednesday
This is the original kitty condo. When it was at our old house I would never, ever, climb to the top platform.
Just look at me now.
Heh.

Happy Birthday Mom!
Today is Mom's birthday. There aren't very many pictures of the two of us together, and this is the only one of her holding me. It was taken on my Gotcha Day. Mom didn't know it then, but I was about to change her life.
She changed mine too. I love her very much even though I hack up hairballs on the rugs, don't greet her when she comes home from day hunting, don't sit on her lap and don't come when she calls me.
Happy Birthday Mom!

Millie & Mom Monday
Yesterday, when Mom turned on the TV, she heard a big SNAP and a POP noise. Then we both heard static, and the UPS started beeping. The TV did not turn on, and started to smell something stinky.
Mom turned the TV OFF right away, and unplugged it. I smelled a little of that electrical burning smell. The TV was dead.
But not to worry. Mom has had three TV's.
She put the TV from the sewing studio in the living room.
She moved the TV in the office into the sewing room.
Are you confused yet? Because I sure am.

Where's the Beef?
I may be a bit tired of Beef in a can, but when Mom made herself a roast beef sandwich I smelled the real beast and came running. I ate an ENTIRE slice, that's how good it was, and that's why this photo is fuzzy.
Real Beef is totally awesome.
Heh.

Feline Friday
I told Mom I was tired of my stinky goodness. Believe it or not, I am getting a bit bored with Beef. I told her I wanted Chick-hen. It took many days to get her to understand me, but she finally got it.
What can I say? She's a people, not a Cat, and while she's pretty smart as people go, she just hasn't got the Cat thing.
She finally did though, and I've been eating my Chick-hen stinky goodness quite happily the last day or so. I'll eat Chick-hen for a while, and then I'll get bored and ask her for something else, and we'll go through this again, and she'll finally get it then too.
So all in all, it's OK. She wakes up early in the summer and I jump on the bed and get lots of scritches every morning. It evens out.

Mom's Busy, I'm Fine
Mom's been busy, working on her new quilting class. And she's been working in the garden. I have been hanging out on the porch, but not posing for pictures. But I am fine.

Millie Monday
Hi everybuddy!
My kitty condo is PERFECT. That's not a surprise. But this shelf gives me an equally perfect view of outside. It's the exact height of the windowsill. So when I am lying here,
This is what it looks like from outside. As you can see, I have a terrific view, but then, if you walked by my house, so would you!
The front porch is terrific, but so is the view from my kitty condo.

The Big W
Mom and I are watching the Gentlemen's Final at Wimbledon today. We are holding our collective breath and rooting for Roger Federer.
I would rather watch than play.
update: My beloved Roger did not win. He was outplayed by the defending champion, Novak Djokovic, who played awesome.
Oh well. Such is sport.

Squirrely Saturday
Lookit this rascal, eating the birdfood in the feeder next door.
I am sure the birds are not happy.
I think it's funny. Go skwirl!

Feline Friday
Mom and I have been on vacation this week. There's been lots of tennis, and I've been able to hang out on the porch a lot more than usual, which is really nice.
Mom's shade garden is looking very good, and she is proud of it.
No, there isn't any 'Nip, but I'm good with it. We have a large supply of the dried stuff and I get my share often enough to keep me happy.

Thinking Thursday
I am thinking.
I like the front porch.
I like it a lot.
It's a good place for thinking.
And for napping.

Back Home
It is so nice to be home, in your own bed, with your own personal napping spots.
and your own personal TV. Here's mine...
and in this photo, you can see both Mom and I have access to our own special TV at the same time.
we sure are lucky.

Silly Sunday
Cats can do anything.
We can climb.
We can hitchhike on a moose.
We can get along with anybody.
We can navigate using a map.
(Well, maybe not so much... Mom says driving around in a circle isn't the same thing.)
Of course, if we hadn't gotten lost, we would not have found the mountain man.
We are glad we are not lobsters.
Very glad.
Still, no matter how many silly or not silly things we do, vacations are fun!

What I Did Yesterday in Belfast Maine.
We went for a walk around the harbor.
Kathy was worried about me falling into the water so she held on to me real tight. She said it was windy and she was concerned. Sigh. I am a CAT. I mean, really? Still, it was nice to know I was in good hands.
Well, maybe not. I'm not sure I want to try pole dancing again.
That was exhausting. Even my tail was tired!!!!
I need a drink. Wait, where's the booze? I think I need some... Waiter!
This is more like it. I like people watching, and waiting for the birds to come back to these spiffy houses.
You didn't think Mom and I would miss the local quilt shop, did you?
Pole dancing notwithstanding, Mom and I are having a good time.

I am in China!
Really and truly! I am in China Maine. Or at least I was yesterday. Then we went to Mexico, then to Norway and finally we ended up in Belfast.
See?
We ate Vietnamese Noodle Soup (also known as Pho, but pronounced "fuh") for dinner. It had BEEF in it.
Mom got Espresso Coffee ice cream for dessert.
And I made friends with Miranda. She is a geezer kitty, lots older than I am and she is deaf.
Mom and I are on a mini vacation here in Maine, and we are having a good time. Happy Fourth of July!!
As for my "traveling bag" in yesterday's photo, that is Mom's summer purse.
