A Millie and the Mouse Story

It's been kinda quiet here at chez Millie during the day. Most of October was grey and rainy. Today it's sunny, so I've decided to nap in my kitty condo in the studio.

 Mom wanted me pose, but seriously?

I have a great story to tell you, but there aren't any pictures. Remember I said Mom hired some "pest" guys to keep the mice out of the house? Well it kinda works, but some still manage to get inside under the kitchen sink. Mom set up a trap and we have caught a couple, but the other night Mom was watching TV and I was napping nearby when we heard the trap go off.

Now I am no dummy. (I mean, I'm a CAT!) I went running to the cabinet, and got the door open. There was lots of rattling, and it turned out the mouse had got a foot caught. I pulled it out, trap and all and ran into the other room. Mom followed. I put the mouse down, and he got away. I merely went over and picked him up again. Mom got a little bit worked up. I tried to tell her everything was OK, but the mouse got loose and ran behind the desk.

Mom got really pissed and she yelled at me! Can you imagine? She told me it was bad enough she could hear some mice under the kitchen sink, but now she had one running loose in the house and she was ANGRY! She went on and on and I just let it go in one ear and out the other because, Hell-Oh! I'm a CAT!

She went to bed, but not before reminding me to Do Your Job! (Dunno where she got THAT from.)

Well.

The next morning she got up and got my food dish and refilled it, and as she walked toward the Office where my food tray lives, she looked over and saw the little mouse I had deaded overnight.

I have to give it to her. She looked right at me and apologized!

Yup!

She said she was sorry for yelling at me and she would never doubt me again.

I just looked at her.

However, I have been a good share of treats every day.

It's chilly out. I slept right next to Mom last night. Not ALL night, mind you, but for a lot of it. Her bed is big, so there's room for both of us, and it's nice and warm.

Hi everybuddy!

My kitty condo is PERFECT. That's not a surprise. But this shelf gives me an equally perfect view of outside. It's the exact height of the windowsill.  So when I am lying here,

This is what it looks like from outside. As you can see, I have a terrific view, but then, if you walked by my house, so would you!

The front porch is terrific, but so is the view from my kitty condo.

Thursday Thought

With a screened in porch that faces South, Mom thought I would like to be camped out there in the morning when it is sunny.

As you can see, I do not.

Maybe someday Mom will understand that Napping and Watching are two separate activities.

Finally Friday

Thank you all for your concern for my safety. Mom knows there are animals out there who are bigger and meaner than me. She wants to keep me safe, and hey, I like the idea of staying in one piece too.

Mom will replace the screen this weekend, and make sure I can't get the screen door open. TBT, thank you. Mom had planned to get some "hardware cloth" for the inside of the screen door. (Good cat-lovin' beins think alike.)

In the meantime I am enjoying my kitty condos, open windows and the nice warm weather we have been having here in New  Hampster.

And I am at the very top of my kitty condo (where Mom has never seen me before) watching the snow fall.

Truthful Thursday

Yesterday Mom closed the door to her sewing studio because it was so cold*** in there.  I was mildly annoyed because that's where I like to sit and watch the world outside.  No worries. I just went into the office and sat on the kitty condo in there.

When Mom got home last night, she saw this.

Do you remember when Mom put the stuffed toy up there, wondering how long it would take for him to fall down?

Wonder no longer.



*** It is minus 7F outside this morning. That's -21.6C, and that's not including the wind chill. When it's that cold and very windy, it feels colder. Right now that -7F "feels like" -19F, which is -28.3C, which is a lot colder than the freezer in the coldbox. And it's colder in places like Whiskeronsin, where Ducky lives.

Silly Sunday

Mom sprinkled some 'Nip on the kitty condo in the front room. (She also opened the blind so I could watch the snow fall outside.)

I had some fun rolling around, and Mom took pictures.
