Easy Like Sunday Morning

Mom's been sleeping later than I have the last few days. She's -finally- getting the "take it easy" bit. Then again she worked in the sewing room all day yesterday. You'd have to check her quilting blog to see what she's up to. Today she has to wrap Christymas presents for KidBean and SweetBean, because she wants to give them to the guy in the bloo shorts this week.

Oh and, yes, she got the woofie-stink out of my ham-mick.

It's Time For...

Mom's favorite thing about "Black Friday" is that she gets to go down to the dungeon and get this box.
and take this guy out of it. He will have the place of honor in the middle of the dining room table until New Year's Day.I've shown you this Santa before. You can read about him here, and here's a funny picture of him (and me) that was taken the very first year I came to live here..

Family Friday

Mom says you have to love your family even if they do something you don't like. I don't have any problems with Missy the woofie sitting next to Mim-may in this picture, even though they are sitting in Mom's recliner. But I wasn't exactly thrilled when Missy decided my cat hammick was a good place to spend the afternoon.
Now I know how Monty must feel.

Happy Thanksgiving

The fambly will be coming to my house for the big celebration today, and when they sit down to eat, they will all hold hands and each one will tell what they are thankful for. I am thankful for Mom, but this year, Mom has a few things she wants to say, so I am turning this over to her.

Millie's Mom Lynne here...

Our lives and the world change every single day, and often by events that seem at first, very insignificant. I want to thank Millie for changing my life.

Not only was I the proud "parent" of a feral kitten who was fun to watch, but I instantly became part of the Cat Blogosphere with friends all over the world. When Gizzy, and then Jasmine, went to the Rainbow Bridge, my newfound friends provided comfort, for which I was very thankful.

When we were able to help SweetBean after her accident, I was very thankful.

When MomBean asked me to be Sprout's godmother, I was very honored and thankful.

When I spent a perfect week with Sprout's family in July, I was happy to be considered part of their family. For them, I am very thankful.

When the Cat Blogosphere and all the other wonderful folks joined together to collect funds to send me to Sprout's funeral in August, I was stunned, overwhelmed, and profoundly thankful.

I know many of you by name, but I know there are many more I do not know. To each and every one of you, I say "Thank You." Thank you for caring enough to help cats get the medical care they need. Thank you for helping "beans" when they lose their jobs or their home. Thank you for helping provide medical care to little sticky people when they get hurt. Thank you for sending a grieving Auntie to attend the funeral of her beloved godchild.

Beyond all that generosity, I want to thank you for the generosity of your spirit. You all make me laugh each day and by sharing your stories, you all make me feel a part of your family, and the family known as The Cat Blogosphere.

You have changed my life, and enriched it greatly. For that I am very, very thankful.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. I am sending virtual hugs and kisses, pets and scritches to each and every "bean" in the CB, and each and every cat (and dog) who is a part of it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thanks Millie!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom finished up her Christymas cards last night. She has already mailed them to cats who do not live in the US, because it usually takes so long to cross those oceans, but Fat Eric got his already!

This stack is all the others! It includes cards to my fambly (including Monty) and Mom's friends. Mom and I will give them to the man in the bloo shorts next week. Christymas is only a month away!

Mom says I can't say how many cards there are, but you know I have a hard time keeping secrets.

Besides, it's Tattle-Tale Tuesday.

Monday Madness

Mom sewed this up yesterday. She's making another one of those silly skirts for the Christymas tree. She'll make it into a circle and add more stuff to it. You'll see.

After she did this, she went into the kitchen and cleaned it all up. She washed pots and pans, put stuff in the cabinets and rearranged all the stuff in the icebox. We watched the guys named Pat, and then she sat down to write my name a squillion times.

Really.

The Hot as Hell Box Gets a Workout

Mom says she's gonna sew today. Actually I think she is gonna wash dishes. You all know how she gets really organized for a big project. Well, before she went day hunting yesterday, she burned some red peppers in the hot-as-hell box.

When she got back, she made herself some granola. Then she made some steak for dinner. BEEF! My favorite. (It was good.)

After that she put some apple slices in the hot-as-hell box, and then she put a pan full of little red balls in there. She made those last year too. She says she's getting ready for the turkey that's coming on Thursday. She says she has to do all this stuff early because on Thursday the turkey is going in the hot-as-hell box, and there won't be enough space to fit everything in at once.

Now tell me. If you were a turkey, and you knew you had a trip to the hot-as-hell box in your future, would you show up?

Me neither.

Saturday Preparations

Mom has been getting ready for Christymas. She went shopping last night for presents for Kidbean and Sweetbean.

She bought more Christymas Holiday cards and stamps. And she's finally working on the Christymas tree skirt she tried to make last year. Here is a bit of the fabric she is using. Great, huh?
And get this, Mom's gotta go day hunting today. Again. This time for the apparently elusive Month End, which she hunts once a month but never catches.
Me, I'm just doing my thing. Hey Monty, wanna come over and visit?

Thursday Ten Plus One

Mom made a quilt for a friend who asked for "a quilt for the bath." Mom wanted to use her patchwork letters, so when she heard that, she had an idea. She bought these fabrics because they looked watery:

And she saw this fabric with the ducks, which she thought was very cute. The idea that had popped into her head was "Rub A Dub Dub". She would make a quilt with those words and the little ducks.
Then she started sewing. First, the word RUB.
but when she put it next to one of the duckies she wasn't so sure. But she kept going:
And once she put this "Dub" next to the rest, she really knew it just didn't look right.

She really liked the ducks and thought they were kinda fun, so she decided to make the letters over using blue background, and then she got the idea to make the ducks peep through the letters.
It made the sewing a little bit more complicated, but Mom thought it was "over the top" and she loved it, so she kept going. She made quite a mess. But the little quilt was looking much better.Mom finished it up, and quilted it in watery looking waves, using fabric that looked like bubbles.

Here it is, the finished Rub-a-Dub Quilt.
Mom sent it to Mrs. Chickenfoot, who just loves it, and yes, it is hanging in the bathroom.

This is the quilt Mom got in return. Isn't it beautiful?

Mom has been working on the Holiday Cards list, and I haven't been posing lately, so that's why there are only 11 pictures today instead of 13.

That and she's still working for that stupid servant.

What's Up Wednesday

Like everybody else in the CB, Mom's been making sure she has everybody's snail mail addresses so we can send out Holiday cards. If you ever bought a Gizzy Quilt, we have your address. (It's somewhere in this box, Mom spent a couple of hours putting them in ABC order.)

But if you didn't, and want to get a Holiday card from me, then send your snail mail address to darlingmillie AT gmail DOT com.

(Oh jeez, maybe I shouldn't a done that, Mom's running to count the Holiday cards....)

If you are sending Holiday cards, please send JUST ONE MORE to an American serviceman or woman and let them know you appreciate everything they have done for our country. Please check this link, because there are specific rules for these cards. The deadline is December10, 2008.

Easy Like Sunday

Wow! Mom slept VERY LATE this morning. I got my crunchies at the usual time, though, because she woke up, but went back to bed.

Mom is making a big pot of tomato soup with rice and turkey meatballs. She is gonna take it easy. Mr Karate will be coming over for dinner later. So we are going to have a very nice day.

Servant Saturday

Mom got home from her day hunting gig TWO HOURS late last night! Why? Because of this box. She says it is the new servant. She also said it was a pain in the neck, and that was why she was late coming home to me.

This picture is proof she (and other beans) have completely lost their minds. This is just a picture of a metal box. Mom says she has to go back today (Saturday, mind you!!!) to feed it.

I hope it doesn't like my crunchies.

Formerly Feral Friday

It's starting to get cold out. I am so glad I am formerly feral. I have a nice heated bed, scritches when I want them and crunchies and treats.

Mom Does it Again

I can't believe it! Mom did it again! She read an entire book again last night. And when she finished she had to go right to bed, so I don't have a Thursday Thirteen...

I didn't sit with her this time. Although I have been sleeping on her bed with her a little bit in the middle of the night. Sometimes she knows I am there and gives me scritches. But I don't stay there all night. I like my independence.

She's crazy bizzy at her day hunting gig. The new servant and wall of fire are being delivered on Friday, and she will probably have to work on Saturday too. Her servant must be really stupid. She jokes that he doesn't know jack. I do not know what this means and she will not tell me. I think it is proof that she is crazy.

Several of you have asked what books she has been reading. No, they are not long or complicated. The first one was Julie and Romeo and the second one was Julie and Romeo Get Lucky. And no, they didn't get Lucky.

And no, I don't get that either.

Once again, I sure am glad I am a cat.

What's Up Wednesday?

Yesterday, Mom came home from her day hunting gig, fed me and made herself dinner. Then she sat down in the recliner and read a book.I sat next to her, and she gave me scritches. She must -finally- be learning, because she didn't stop. Petting me, I mean.

She read the whole book, from start to finish, by the way. Works for me.

Memorial Monday

Remember a few weeks ago when I told you about some of the things Mom carried around with her wherever she went? I told you one of them was special, but I didn't tell you which one.

It is this one, and when you look at the picture below, you will know why it is so very special, why Mom has been wearing it every single day, and why Mom and I chose this day to show you.

Sunday Wow-day

Lookit this. Mom's servants are neatly organized and there is no more blue spaghetti. You can look here to see what it looked like before.

Mom says she will really and truly take it easy today. She says she hasn't got any energy do to anything else.

Suits me.

Sat-a-Rack Day

Today is The Big Rack Day for Mom at her day hunting gig. Today is the day they will take all this stuff
and try to fit it into this.
(Mom says it's a rack, but it looks like a closet to me.) And she says this blue spaghetti is gonna get tied up.Next week, Mom will be putting another servant into the rack and adding and a wall of fire.

Yeah, right.
