Rubylocks & Little Miss

It turns out that Rubylock's hair isn't red any more. But who cares when she is as pretty as she is? Mr Karate took this picture of her and Little Miss and the quilt Mom made for them at the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Yeah, I'm in love.

Millie Doing Quality Testing

You know, the work never ends around here. If I'm not watching over my domain from one of the two kitty condos, it's catching up on my ZZZZ's or performing Quality Assurance checks on Mom's quilts.

Not only did I check this quilt for sewing mistakes, but I checked it for softness, warmth and cuddle-ability. Yes, that is a word, and it is an extremely important quality in a quilt. This quilt passed with flying colors.

Which is funny, considering...

Oh crap. Mom won't let me tell you.

Yet.

Heh.

Millie Finds a Boo Boo

Yup, I did. Mom was sewing this quilt together and didn't notice she made a mistake. But I saw it and went to sit right next to it so she would see. It took a while. I had to be very persistent, but she finally saw the mistake and fixed it.

I'm telling you, my job as quilt QA inspector never ends.

I know I haven't been blogging much lately, but I am fine. I have been napping behind the couch and Mom hasn't been able to get many pictures. As the weather warms up and I spend more time on the front porch, that will change, but the weather has been wet and cool lately so I have been staying inside.

Formerly Feral Friday

This quilt just came back from a big quilt show in Paducah Kentucky, so Mom hung it up on the wall.

Can you guess what I did?

Sunday on the Porch with Millie

Mom was furry busy this past weekend. She sanded and painted the front steps, as you can see in this picture. Naturally, I snoopervised from a safe and protected spot.

Then she bought MORE PLANTS for the front yard.

On Sunday morning, Mom planted them.  Then she went into the kitchen and cooked a chick-hen and potatoes and onions and yukky broccoli. Then she made some cookies. Then she packed a quilt to go to a show in Chattanooga.

Me, I stayed on the porch.

Easy Like Sunday

I spent a lot of time yesterday helping Mom.

I'm telling you, this QA thing is very demanding. I have to check out every inch of the quilts Mom makes. This one is called Mashed Potatoes.

Dunno why, I can't smell any mashed potatoes anywhere.

Lookit this gorgeous picture Mr Karate sent of him & Rubylocks before they went out for a real live dead fish dinner.

Fabric Friendly Friday

I'm  being nice here, lying on the fabric Mom is using for her Chicken quilt, instead of the quilt itself, which you can see in the foreground of this picture.

At least that's what Mom thinks. I slept on the quilt all night!

Heh!

Saturday Quality Testing

Before the Holidays, I tend to be extra-busy checking Mom's quilts for Love, Kindness, Softness, Comfort and Warmth. (I also have to make sure they get an adequate coating of my furs.) A Quality Assurance Cat's job is a tough one, but somecat has to do it.

Furry Family Friday

This is my fur-cousin Obiwan. He lives with Mr Karate and Rubylocks in Catifornia. Obiwan is enjoying the quilt Mom sent to Mr Karate and Rubylocks for Christymas.

I am glad to see everybuddy is enjoying the quilt. Mr Karate says it has been "cold" out there in Catifornia lately, so this is perfect for them. Mom is very happy the quilt will be well-loved.

Truthful Thursday

All quilts in this house are good places on which to nap, or a good spot for a bath, even if they aren't finished!

Tuxie Tuesday

Mom's "Day From ..." yesterday wasn't as bad as she had expected. It is still going to be a very busy week, but she should be fine. I've tried to make sure she gets enough rest. Heck, I found a book for her to read about a cat detective named Joe Grey. (Really. The detective is a grey cat named Joe.) Mom duly sat herself down on the couch last night and read the whole thing.

There is a contest called "Cats on Quilts" and from time to time I have been humoring Mom and pretending to pose for her. One of my favorite photos of me on a quilt is this one:
The quilt on which I am resting belongs to ME and was made for ME by a famous quilter. Quilts are great for napping on, and covering with your furs, but there's nothing like one that is made specially for YOU. Or ME, as the case may be.

Formerly Feral Friday

I have lots of nifty quilts on which to nap. (It's one of the benefits of living with Mom.)

I'm a lucky girlcat to be formerly feral. We got snow yesterday, and then a little drizzle of rain, so it's icy and cold outside.

I'm inside where it's warm and I have a lot of places to get comfy and watch the world go by outside.

Mom's had her nose stuck in the Kindle all week, reading A Town Like Alice. Now she says she wants to get into the sewing studio and start making a mess. I think it's going to be a good weekend.

Not a Gizzy

In yesterday's post, I was lying one of our quilts.
In the comments, Scooby, Shaggy and Scout said it was a Gizzy Quilt, but it's not. It's a Julie quilt. About a year or so ago Mom and her friend Julie swapped quilts.  Mom got this quilt, called Obsolescence ("O" for short.)
As you can see, Mom and I both love it.

(Mom doesn't make the Gizzy quilts any more.)

Family Friday

Violette's quilt is visiting Mom and I for a few weeks.  Mom will enjoy looking at it, and sleeping under it, but I have a big job to do. I have to cover this quilt quite thoroughly with my furs.

I'm totally up for the challenge.  Let the napping begin!

Taking the Cake Tuesday

Mom gifted Mim-may and Pip-pay with this quilt, and YES, I did make sure to cover it nicely with my furs beforehand.Several of you suggested Mom bake her birthday cupcakes someplace other than here, and that's exactly what she's going to do. Mim-may's entire house is air-colditioned, so Mom is going over there on Wednesday to bake her Red Velvet Cupcakes.

Mim-may had only one request.

That she and Pip-pay each get a cupcake when Mom is finished.

Formerly Feral Friday

I am such a lucky girlcat! I get to spread my furs on the most wonderful quilts! It's another advantage of being formerly feral!

Thursday Thought

This is Mom's new quilt. She made the letters, flowers, hearts and other stuff; her friend Julie put them together and their friend Chris quilted it.It is very important I check out every aspect of this quilt.

As you can see.Outside there is still a lot of snow on the ground.

Saturday Shopping

Lookit! I'm in the new metal masheen! I'm going shopping with Mom!

Here I am at Quilted Threads, Mom's favorite quilt shop. I just LOVE these fabrics!Look! It's Mom's quilt, Letters From Home, on display here.
The very nice ladies who work here said Mom's quilt has been getting all kinds of wonderful comments. Everybody loves it.

I didn't find anything here for my Secret Paw package, so Mom and I will have to keep shopping. This is fun!

Millie Monday

I'm resting up. It's been bizzy around here.Yesterday Mom watched Roger Federer defeat Rafael Nadal in the ATP World Tour final.
That was good.

Then she made some of her Red Velvet Cupcakes
for her friends Diana and Art who are visiting from California. Mom says they are really good. (Me, I prefer stinky goodness.)

Her quilt, Letters From Home, will be coming home today, from Washington state, and Houston Texas, where it has been traveling since January. Mom is very excited about that.

Mom talked to Monty's MomBean last night. They have been furry bizzy too. First the whole fambly went to Disney World, then everybody got sick (MomBean had bronk-eye-tis). Everybody is better now, Mooshie is walking, and guess what he loves more than anything?

(I'll give you a hint... it has four furry legs and it isn't a woofie.)

I wanted to pass this news along to you because I wanted you all to know they are all OK.

Purrs!

Millie Monday

Mom and I are working hard to finish this quilt.
