Millie Monday

Mom was busy this weekend, so I helped her put the laundry away.

Sort of.

Fun, Fun, Fun

Mom's big day hunting project looked pretty boring, but then I found some other pictures on her tippy tappy lapbox that you might like to see... check this out:
Wouldn't that big pile of paper in the middle of the room be FUN for a cat to pounce on, climb on and hide in? I think it would be PAWSOME!

Where did all that paper come from?
Mom's BOSS and another lady pulled it off the walls!!!

So what did Mom do for fun?

Which kind of fun would YOU like to do best?

Mom's Before and After

Mom is excited about this "progress."
This is the room before.  Pretty average. The chairs look comfy, but I don't see any windows or cat trees.
Mom says this is progress. I think it looks very dull.
Mom says this is the hole they dug in the floor.  I think it's a very dull hole. (I could have dug a much better hole than that.) A special box will go there, but it will be covered up.

I think she needs a nap,

Mom's Busy

Mom's got a wicked busy schedule the next few days. She has been named "project manager" at her day hunting gig. What's the project?  The room where the head honcho holds his meetings is getting made over. New rug, wallpaper, new furniture, new electronic toys... Mom's got to co-ordinate everything. Sounds boring to me. No cat trees, no cat hammocks. Bleh.

Like, today, she has to make sure the furniture gets moved out of the room so the guys who are going to take down the wallpaper can do their stuff this afternoon.

Then tomorrow some other guys come over and rip the rug up.

Saturday (yes SATURDAY) some guys are going to bring jackhammers and dig a trench in the cement floor so the electrical guy can put in a special box for some wires.

NEXT week it's wiring, wallpaper, computer junk.

Mom also has to organize when the new carpet gets laid, the purchase of enough chairs to make a cat happy forever, a gigunza special cool table to impress everybody and something called a cred-end-za to store all kinds of stuff. And she has to choose pictures for the wall and all kinds of other little stuff.

All that in addition to her normal day hunting stuff, and taking care of moi.

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Tuxie Tuesday

Mom took the air colditioner out of her bedroom window yesterday. She says it's that time of year.  We have to send our sun and the hots to my friend Poppy Q and all my friends Down Under.

Millie Monday

Like my special buddy Max and his Mom, we watch Jackson Galaxy too. My Mom doesn't get real huggy when it's over though. Instead, the last time we watched, she got up an LEFT ME!

When she came back, she had a new feather toy. So I've been chasing that around and attacking it. Which is pretty cool.

I am so happy to have a Mom who "gets it", but I gotta tell you Jackson REALLY "gets" cats. I bet HE could get me into my PTU.

I hope he doesn't tell her!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

OK Mom, you took away the quilt. Do you think you could leave me alone now?

Mr Karate Travels

Mr Karate is traveling, and this weekend he will be going to Mexico.  Here's a picture of him.  Can you see the flower behind his ear? Mr Karate is one in a million. He's one of my favorite beans.

Formerly Feral Friday

Look, I know it's been sunny and warm out, but I LIKE it here on the plum chair when it's covered with a quilt.  I'm formerly feral. I can do what I want.

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Tuxie Tuesday

The stay-cation is over. I won. I succeeded in NOT being stuffed in the PTU and brought to the V-e-t.

But that doesn't mean I can stop hiding out.

Andy Murray Did It!

Woo Hoo!!! Andy Murray won!  Andy Murray won!

Andy Murray from Great Britain, has won the US Open!  It's his first Grand Slam Title, and has been a long time coming.  I'm really happy, because I was rooting purring for him.

Woo Hoo!  Concatulations Andy!

Mo' Cats Day 2012!

Mo' Cats!
Mo' Cats!
Mo' Cats!
Cats Rule the Innernets!

Formerly Feral Friday

I am happy to say Mom has given up trying to wrassle me into the PTU for a trip to the stabby place. I have been camped out under the bed all week (so no pictures). Mom puts my treats in the PTU, and I eat them when she isn't around. Heh.

It has been a very nice stay-cation. Mom's been sewing, watching the tennis, and reading. She was kinda bummed her favorite player, Roger Federer was knocked out of the tournament the other night. Now she is rooting for Andy Murray and David Ferrer, although after watching Novak Djokovic beat Juan Martin Del Potro last night, she doesn't think anybody can stop Novak from taking the whole thing.

Mr Karate is off gallivanting in Catifornia. Last we heard he was in San Ho-say. If any of you Catifornia kitties see him, give him a high paw.

Tootles!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Oh oh.
Mom thinks I have to get friendly with the PTU, so she put it right next to my foods and she put one of my Gizzy quilts in it.  At treat time last night, instead of giving me my treats in the kitchen like usual, she put them in the PTU.

Actually, I don't have a problem with the PTU. I don't even have a problem with the V-e-t at the stabby place. Everybody there is nice to me. I have a problem getting grabbed by surprise, bundled up like a burrito and jammed into a box.

We'll see how this goes.

The score is still

Millie: 3
Mom: 0

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Tuxie Tuesday

I am under the bed, and I'm not coming out. Mom and I had a little tussle earlier today. She actually grabbed me and got me within inches of the PTU (Prisoner Transport Unit) before I was able to scramble away.

Heh.

Prancer Pie has reminded me that I need to update the "score," so here it is:

Millie: 3
Mom: 0

Easy Like Sunday Morning

For those of you who are wondering, no, I have not been for a ride in the new metal masheen, and have not been to the stabby place.  If it was up to me, I would never get in the PTU and forgo any rides in the metal masheen (which Mom calls "Sylvie").

I'm safe today and tomorrow, because the stabby place is closed. I plan to enjoy the day doing what I do best, napping right here on my cat hammock, where I can watch the world go by right outside this window.

Happy Sunday!

Silver Sylvie Saturday

Mom went out shopping yesterday and came home with this.  It looks a lot like the old metal machine, but it is different. This one has built-in GPS and blue teeth!!! Mom has already given it a name. She says the name is French, sophisticated and female. The name is Sylvie.

Happy Weekend!

Thursday Truth

I am NOT getting in that box.

You can't make me.

No how, no way.

Millie, this is the second day in a row you won't get in the box.  You HAVE to get in the box sooner or later.

I do not care. I am NOT getting in that box. No, no, no.

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Almost Wordless Wednesday

You can make the bed now, Mom. I found another place to nap.

Tattle-Tale Tuesday

Mom bought herself a new backpack. She got it from Timbuk2, and the reason it is so cool looking is because she had them make it just for her.  Mom likes it because her tippy tappy lapbox can fit inside along with all her other goodies she needs when she travels.

Mom and I watched Roger Federer beat the young American Donald Young last night. Mom kinda felt sorry for the kid, getting the world #1 player in the first round at the US Open. Mom says that one of these days we are going to go to see it Live.

Which makes me wonder... If it's Live when you are there in purrson, what is it when you are watching it on TV?

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a Cat?

Monday, August 27, 2012

Millie Monday

Mom can't make the bed if I'm napping on it.
Heh.
Mom went too Ooo-Ick's yesterday and ate one of these:
It's a "Lob-stah" roll.  She was raving about it. (Dunno why, we all know I much prefer BEEF!)  Mom thinks it's pretty funny when the so-called "chefs" try to make the lobster roll "better."  They add all kinds of silly stuff, but Mom says all it needs is Lobster, mayo, and a toasted hot dog roll. Mom adds some finely chopped celery, a little lemon juice and some pepper.  Mom says, sure you can dress it up, but when you have lovely lobster like this (see those great big chunks?) it's a sin to add anything that takes away from the lobster.

By the way, Mom ate half of this Lobstah Roll before she thought to take a picture of it.

Mom and I will be watching the Tennis. It's a perfect day here in New Hampster, on stay-cation day 3.

Saturday Caturday

It's a lovely day out. It's sunny, warm but not too hot, and it's dry. I love napping in my hammock near the window.  I can watch the world go by, and when I get bored, I just get another napping spot.

Mom, however, is her usual get-up-and-go self. She went out for breakfast, then did some errands.  She went to the pasta and cheese place and got some fresh pasta and lots of nice cheese (duh!).  Then she went shopping for Auntie Karate's birthday present. She came home and made herself her current favorite sandwich, a BLT with avocado and spicy mayo.  Then she did the washing machine shuffle, changed the sheets on the bed and washed the dirty dishes.

Before you think Mom is all work and no play, let me set your mind at ease. She has been reading the new biography of Julia Child, Dearie, and enjoying it muchly.  She's also been watching tennis and she went to the local quilt shop to buy fabric.

Day One of Stay-cation is pretty good so far.

Friday, August 24, 2012

Fantastic Friday

Mom's stay-cation is almost here. I am furry excited.  Here are some of the things she will do:

  • Watch the Tennis (duh)
  • Sew on her Black Box quilt
  • Read the newest Armand Gamache book by Louise Penny, which will come out on Tuesday. Mom is particularly excited because it will be delivered to her Kindle by magic that day.
  • Watch Project Runway (o my Bast was she angry at Ven last night. He was whining because he had to make a dress for a "plus-sized woman)
  • Make some stupid Basil Pesto.
  • Celebrate Auntie Karate's 50th birthday (tomorrow)
  • Give me lots and lots of scritches
  • Bring me here.
HEY WAIT A MINUTE!  THAT'S THE V-E-T!!!  MOM, THAT'S NOT FAIR!

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Thursday Thoughts

Only two more sleeps until Mom's on stay-cation.  She will be watching tennis and sewing on her quilts. We are both looking forward to it.

Wired Cats

Mom reads WIRED magazine. (What can I say? She's a geek.)  This month, the magazine has an article about "Why Kittehs Rule the Internets."

No Kidding.

The author talks about Maru. He would like to meet Maru. (Which is impossible. Nobody even knows where Maru lives.)

Anyway, that cats rule the internet is no surprise to me, or you either, but there was one quote that Mom and I thought was pretty funny:

Well, like, duh.

Maru!

You all know Maru, don't you?  He's the world's most famous cat.  He's on tv, and he has a squillion videos on YouTube. I am a big fan of Maru.
He's famous for running across the room and sliding into an open box, but my favorite is the one with the Big Box. (Go watch it now. It's really funny.)

ANYWAY!!! Maru has a book out now, and Mom got it for me. Here is The Most AMAZING Thing about Maru:

He only weighs 12 pounds!!!!  I always thought he was a great big fat mancat, but really, he's just a bit bigger than me!! He doesn't like being held either.

Maybe we're related.

Millie Monday

Maybe if I sit on all Mom's stuff she won't leave to go day hunting.

Scritches Saturday

I like to get scritches every morning after breakfast.  I'm pretty insistent.  Fortunately my Mom expects this and makes time for me.

I am such a lucky girlcat.

Friday, August 17, 2012

Fam Friday

Mr Karate was visiting last night. He surprised Mom at her day hunting gig yesterday by showing up on a yellow motorcycle. He told Mom he is going to the desert to see a man burning. I may only be a cat but I don't think I'd want to be anybody burning and I certainly wouldn't enjoy being in a metal masheen for three or four days to get there.

But hey, he's Family, so I'll trust he knows what he's doing.

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

The Truth Is Out

Why did Mom clean the house last weekend? The real reason?  A quilting buddy of hers will be visiting on Saturday.  Big Whoop.

Then Mom told me her friend is particularly interested in meeting ME!

Well, that changes everything.

Happy 100th Birthday Julia Child!

I'm pretty sure I would have loved Julia Child.  She was smart and funny, and she was a good cook.  Mom's got lots of her books, and loved watching Julia on TV.
Happy 100th Birthday Julia, thanks for teaching America to cook!

Tuxie Tuesday

I like making Mom get down on the floor to get a nice picture of me!  Go Mom!

Easy Like Sunday

I think I have to eat some crow.  I mean, Mom proved me wrong, so I have to paw up and admit it.

Mom cleaned the house.  I mean CLEANED it. She did all the laundry, washed all the dishes and the pots and pans, cleaned the stuff off all the tables.  She changed the sheets and made the bed. She cleaned the litterboxes and the human litterbox room.  She went food hunting and paid all the Mr Bills. She even dragged the rug sucking monster all over the house and then washed the floors.

So now we both get to take it really easy today.  I'll be napping wherever I want, and Mom will be watching the Olympics (we already watched the Marathon) and sewing.  Even though it's raining outside it's gonna be a good day.

PS, Happy Birthday Mr Big!

Google Olympics Doodles

Have you been stuck at your computer playing the latest Google doodles? Mom and I have been running the hurdles, shooting basketball hoops, kayaking and today, trying to block goals in soccer (football.) You can read about them here and  here and here.

Otherwise I have been enjoying napping under the wing chair where it's cool.  Mom's been doing the day hunting thing and not much else.  Megan gave me grief about telling everybody she's been slacking at housework lately, and she's right, I suppose.  Mom has been working hard and she was sick.  But I didn't tell anything other than the truth.  The house is kinda messy. Mom says it's hot and sticky and her get-up-and-go has got-up-and-left. Mom has been providing me with my favorite stinky goodness, my best crunchies, my favorite treats at treat time.  She's been keeping the litter box tidy and satisfying my needs for scritches any time I want, so on that score she's top notch.

Now if I can just figure out how to be a better soccer goalie....

Thursday, August 09, 2012

Truthful Thursday

Mom's been doing a lot of sewing lately and has been neglecting the housework. There are dirty pots and pans on the kitchen counter and she still hasn't folded the laundry from last weekend.  Yeah, I know she's been teaching and watching the Olympics, but.

Fortunately one of us has been keeping up appearances.

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Tsk, tsk Tuesday

Mom's feeling better,  but she's still kinda tired so she's been taking it easy.  I've been napping under the bed where it's cool and quiet.

Mom's been doing good on the WW thing. She says her Red Velvet Cupcakes are 8 Points Plus on the WW thing, in case any bean is interested.  On her birthday, she ate three.

tsk tsk!

My Gotcha Day!

O my Bast!  Lookit what happens when your Mom is busy, Roger Federer is playing tennis at the Olympics and the Hots are here. You forget it's your Gotcha Day.  Holy Bast!

It's my SIXTH Gotcha-versary!  WHEE!!!!!

Lookit me. Napping on Mom's lap.  Life is pretty good.  Thanks Mom, for giving me an awesome home!

The Fountain

Mom knows I've been drinking from my new water fountain because she keeps refilling it.  But she never sees me do it, and when she does, she hasn't got her little camera.

This morning was different.  Now the whole world knows I not only drink from the fountain, but I like to lap the water from the spout.

Mom and I are going to settle in and watch the Men's Gold Medal Tennis match at the Olympics today. It should be good.

Friday, August 03, 2012

Formerly Feral Friday

Mom's feeling better, but she's been glued to the TV watching the Olympics and I have to confess I've been watching too.

Have you been staying up too late too?

Thursday, August 02, 2012

Truthful Thursday

I've done my job too well.  Mom isn't sick anymore and she left me to go day hunting. I guess I'll cover this quilt with my furs.
