It's the Peak weekend for leaf-peeping here in New Hampster. That means everybody and their brother from all over drive to the mountains to take a look. This is interstate 93 North, and Mom says it was stop-and-go traffic from one end of the state to the other.
Why was Mom out there? She was on her way to her favorite quilting store. She normally would take "the back way" but she had to go to her day-hunting gig to do a small task first. She had forgotten which weekend it was until she was in the middle of it.
This red tree is right outside our living room window, so we can see it every day.
Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Chilly Saturday
It was 55F (12.7C) when we got up this morning, so Mom didn't open the porch door all the way, but she was nice enough to make sure I could go out there and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells.
Mom is reading The Martian so she hasn't been doing much of anything else, including helping me with my blog. It seems to me that my needs and desires are significantly more important than whether or not a fictional astronaut gets off Mars alive, but with Mom's nose deep in the book, it's sometimes hard to tell.

Red Leafs, Green Papers
It's quite a bit different in New Hampster than it was in Tennenneseeee or Ark and Saw. It is the time of the year when a lot of our trees turn red, like this one in the back yard.
The red tree you see in this picture is next to the stabby place where my v-e-t works. Mom says I will be visiting there soon. (I say Fat Chance!) What all this red means is the hots are gone and it's time to feed the heating monster lots of green papers.
Mom's been trying to entice me to get into the heated cat cup. She's got it plugged in, but although I will pick out all the treats, even the Magic 'Nip isn't enough to get me to climb into it.

Red Tree Saturday
This red tree is proof positive that Autumn has arrived in New Hampster. Although "peak color" is still a week away here, this tree in the back yard always turns color early. Mom and I love looking at it.

Tuxie Tuesday
Mom took the air colditioner out of her bedroom window yesterday. She says it's that time of year. We have to send our sun and the hots to my friend Poppy Q and all my friends Down Under.

Tuxie Tuesday
It's getting colder out, and the windows are closed more than they are open. I am in my favorite cat hammock, looking out the window. (Those tomato plants belong to the neighbors upstairs.)
Here I am!
A lot of you commented yesterday about how your trees don't turn pretty colors in autumn. We are still a week away from "peak week" in our part of New Hampster, but I thought you might enjoy watching the changes happen. These trees are across the street from our house.
I'll try to get Mom to take a picture every day or so and we can all watch the leaves change color together.
