Musical Monday

Yes, that's Mr Karate playing cello.

I want to thank everybody for the birthday wishes I received yesterday. It was very thoughtful and I enjoyed reading them. Thank you.

Mom had to go to her day hunting gig because one of her servants was stuck waking up. They all take little naps on Sunday morning, and get back up by themselves, but one got stuck. Mom had to drive over and give it a nudge. Let's hope it doesn't get in the habit of doing that every week.

Happy Birthday to Me! I am THREE!

It's my Birthday today! I am THREE years old! All you cat blogging friends made this day possible when you helped Malcolm with green papers when I was just an itty bitty kitty. Thanks very much!

Now I have a terrific furrever home where I am Top Cat, get stinky goodness, Temptations, Greenies and 'Nip! I get lots of pets and scritches and a pretty good bean Mom who takes care of me.

I think I am going to celebrate by taking a nap in the cat hammock in the sun!

Crack and Boom

You know I do not like Crack and Boom storms. Yesterday we had a BIG one. And it rained. Mom said it was raining cats and dogs, but that's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Cats don't go out in that.

How much did it rain? Well, this is a picture of the back yard snowpile on Tuesday:And this is what it looks like this morning:We might have a runner-up in the When When Contest sooner than anybody thought!

Mom came home late from her day hunting gig last night, but this time she brought home something worthwhile. She had stopped at the store and brought me lots of stinky goodness and a new mink mousie! Oh joy!

P.S. It's my birthday tomorrow! I'll be THREE!

Finally When!

The snow is GONE! The When When Contest is over. We have a winner! The winner is The Chesney Cats. Funnily enough, they were the first cats to enter the contest! They will receive a package of goodies. Chesney Cats, please send me an email at darlingmille AT gmail DOT com with your snail mail address so we can send you your package.

Concatulations Chesney Cats!

Thank you to all who entered the When When Contest. Without you, the contest would not exist. I have been very flattered to hear from some cats that this is their favorite contest. Mom and I enjoy it very much also, and we have decided the When When Contest will be an annual event.

Not Quite Thursday

The snow is still with us. I am sorry Daisy Mae, you did not win the When When Contest. Here is a closeup of the little patch of snow that still has to melt.
Mom says that if she had entered the contest, she would have lost too. She thought the snow would have been gone by now.

I hope you all enjoyed our April Fool's prank yesterday!

April Fool!

This is what it really looked like outside this morning. (Sorry Poppy Q, you didn't win the When When Contest.)

Did you have a fun April Fool's Day today? I sure did laugh when I read about Google's CADIE and the things on ThinkGeek's home page. Did you like the picture on APOD? Did you enjoy reading about the kittens that refused to grow up? My post earlier today is as true as those. Which is to say it wasn't.

Were you fooled?

Yes, I'm a scamp. I admit it.

Tuesday Confessional

Looking outside this morning, Mom and I see a tiny bit of snow left, so Derby, you have not won the When When Contest. We are getting very close. For those of you who guessed dates later in the month, here is what the big pile of snow in the back yard looks like.
And now, a confession...
The house we live in is old, so the floors are crooked. So if you drop something wet, it runs. For example, if you are a kitty, and you are scratching around in your litter box with the new pellets and Breeze pad, and your buziness end accidentally hangs over the edge of the box, said liquid will slowly run all the way to the doorway.

After your Mom dances all around, making funny noises, and cleans it up, she might then put a very large absorbent pad underneath your litter box.

How humiliating!

Millie Monday

The weather is yukky today, but at least it isn't snowing. There is still snow in this picture, so Yuki, I am sorry, but you are not the When When Contest winner.
Can you see me? It was very warm on Saturday, so Mom opened the window and I could smell the good smells from outside.
There were pretty good smells inside, too, with all that bread coming out of the hot-as-hell box. I wish the snow would hurry up and melt, and it get warmer. I am tired of winter. I think we will have a winner of the When When Contest very soon!

Stormy, Smelly, Sewing Sunday

It's raining out today, and the snow is being stubborn, and not going away.
This is what all the commotion was about yesterday. Mom makes a special bread with cooked white rice, white cornmeal and freshly ground black pepper. Mom says this unusual bread toasts well and makes excellent sandwiches. Both Monty's Big Beans love it. It is called Black and White bread. So take a good look at it... Does it look black and white to you?Didn't think so.

To say the hot-as-hell-box got a workout yesterday is an understatement of epic proportions. Mom also made six loaves of her bread,

and lots of cookies.Today she'll be making more bread doing some sewing too.

It's supposed to be "Easy Like Sunday Morning" today, except I don't think Mom knows "Easy."

Earth Hour - tonight 8:30 PM

Earth Hour, tonight 8:30 PM. We'll be participating! And you...?

Strange Saturday

Samba, you don't live too far away, and you probably know that if there is snow at your house, there is snow at my house too. Well, the snow is still here, so you are not the winner of the When When Contest. I do think we will have a winner very soon!Monty, honey, Mom said if you show this picture to your Mombean, she will squee.
I don't get it either. I think she'll squee over this, though!

C'mon over and we can spend some quality time together. I understand that big woofie over at your house is a little slow on the uptake and can be rather annoying.

Finally Friday

It's warming up here, and the snow is melting, finally! Our snowpatch is getting smaller. I am sorry, Niko & Cloud, you did not win the When When Contest. Mom and I think we will have a winner soon, soon!

I don't have anything interesting to post today because Mom spent an hour on the phone last night yakking with Monty's Mombean. Yak, yak, yakkity, yak... granted I got some cuddle time, but like, seriously... I did overhear Mom say she had ordered her Basil seeds from Burpee, and that she also ordered some catnip seeds.

So I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Thursday Three

There is still snow on the ground, so today isn't the day. We are supposed to have temps in the 50's F (10C) for the next few days, and the weather guys say we will have hard rain over the weekend. The When When Contest continues.
For those of you who selected dates in April, here is what the back yard looks like. The snow pile there is still at least two gizzys high (that's 3 feet in bean measuring.)

And now for some terrific news. My favorite mousie has dried out and this morning Mom filled it with 'Nip. I waited as patiently as I could. Can you see my whiskers in the right corner of the photo? Now, excuse me, I uh, um... I got stuff to do.

Terrible Tuesday

It's cold out, and windy, so the snow didn't melt much yesterday. The When When Contest is still on, because the snow is still here! But look...
This is my favorite mousie. Mom has been finding it all over the house. This is no surprise, because I carry it around in my mouth. (I won't let Mom get a picture. Heh.)

The other morning, Mom got up and found it soaking in my water bowl. So she hung it up to dry. It's really looking pretty ratty.

Hmm.

I think I need a new one.

New England Weather - Wait a Minute!

This is the view outside this morning. Sorry Parker, sorry Miss Peach, you are not winners of the When When Contest, because there is still snow on the ground.
There is a saying in New England, that if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. These two pictures, taken within TEN MINUTES of each other, express that saying perfectly.

Mom was getting ready to go out food hunting yesterday, when she looked outside and saw that it was SNOWING!
Ten minutes later, she was putting her coat on when she realized the sun had come out.
This is typical of weather here in March.

Easy Sunday

It was cloudy outside when Mom took this picture earlier today.
But a short time later, the sun came out, and I made Mom take another one because when it is cloudy outside it looks like we live in a lousy neighborhood, and we don't.

There is still snow on the ground. As past winners of our contests know, Mom always includes a box of chocolate as part of the prize package. Diva Kitty Mom calls them "nasty, evil chocolates," but Mom says they are really wonderful and very good. (???) I know for a fact Monty's Mombean loves them too.

Anyway, Mom went shopping yesterday to buy some for the prize packages, so we are ready when the snow disappears!

Which won't happen soon enough for me!

Happy Anniversary, Mim-may and Pip-pay!

Twenty-two years! W00t!
We love you!

Not Yet When

Here's the view outside Mom's window this morning. There's still snow on the ground, so Camp Stanhope, you haven't won the When When Contest.

For all you kitties that guessed a date in April, I have convinced Mom to offer a "Consolation Prize." That will be awarded to the cat who guessed the correct date for the snowpile in the back yard to disappear. Here is what it looked like this morning (that back fence is five feet tall).
Here's what that snowpile looked like just two months ago today. As for me, well, I'm just hanging out.

Finally Friday, Finally Spring

(but there's still snow on the ground.)
I told Mom she better go over and visit Google's home page today. Eric Carle has designed today's logo. Google has a history of using special logos for special events. But they are only used once! For a history and images of all of them, you can click here.

Snow a Go Go!

There is still snow on the ground, but it is melting fast. You couldn't tell from the pictures (being taken so early in the morning), but the last three days have been sunny with temperatures in the 50's F, (10C) and yesterday it hit 60F (15.5C). Today it is supposed to be cooler with a light rain.

The stuff is melting fast, and we will likely have a winner of the When When contest very soon!

St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Sorry, Milo, there is still snow on the ground so you are not the winner of the When When Contest.I help Mom get dressed in the morning.
Because, you know, being a bean and all, she needs all the help she can get.
