Thinking on Thursday

Ha ha! Last week I did not have something thoughtful to say. But not this week. This week, I am ready!

In April, just after all the snow melted, Mom built this box near the side of the house and filled it full of DIRT! I thought she was crazy. Then she planted some seeds in it. I thought it was a big waste. This box of dirt won't get more than an hour or two of sun during the day.But one month later, green stuff started growing in the box of dirt. Mom says there is fresh Spinach, Arugula, and Mesclun mix lettuces.
A month after that and Mom had already harvested all the Arugula (I like to call it Roo-Gala), and the spinach was going to seed. Mom has planted more Spinach, and more Arugula, and more of the Mesclun mix and some other let-us.Every day she goes out to pick some of these green leaves to eat. I think green leaves are stupid, but hey, Mom's happy, so I'm not complaining. Mom is VERY happy.
Impressive though this box is, you should see what is growing out back!

Last summer Mom bought this little kiddie pool, but she never got around to planting anything in it. This year she filled it with dirt and planted some seeds. She covered the dirt with brown cloth so the weeds (and bad mannered neighbor cats) wouldn't mess up the baby plants she hoped to grow.

You should have heard the stupid upstairs next-door neighbor snicker when he saw what Mom had done. He used words like "crazy" and some other mean things. He didn't know Mom could hear him talking bad about her. She just chuckled, "Just wait, Millie," she told me, "my garden is going to be so nice, he's going to eat his words."
Two weeks later, the plants in the kiddie pool were growing! Lookit these three! Mom says the big one is Zucchini, the next one is Yellow Squash, and the teeny one is Cucumber. I thought those words were getting big enough to eat.But holy cow! Lookit those plants now! Mom took this picture when she got back from day-hunting yesterday, and she says those leaves are gigantic. She's pretty excited, because she found this under those big leaves!

I am thinking my Mom may be crazy, but I think she's crazy like a CAT!

Heh!

Tattle-Tale Tuesday

It may not be public knowledge, but I am not a cat that gets into bags or boxes (unlike Maru).
Mom set out a small paper bag to try to entice me. Nothing doing.

Then she got an idea to put treats in the bag. I love treats. But I'm no dummy. I didn't stick my whole self in the bag to get them. I sniffed them, then reached in with my paw to bring them closer so I could eat them.

Heh.

Five Years Ago!

Quick! What were YOU doing five years ago today?

Can't remember?

Well, I CAN!

FIVE YEARS AGO today, I got hit by a car as I was crossing the street. It broke my leg, and dislocated my hip. It was TERRIBLE! I couldn't move! Cars were driving by, and I was screaming and scared. I thought sure another car would hit me and I would go to the Bridge!

But then something wonderful happened. A man picked me up and carried me to safety. He tried to find my home, but I didn't have a home. I was homeless. I was a wild kitty. I was a Feral. Some people think it's okay to kill feral cats. I was terrified. I couldn't run. I couldn't hide. I couldn't save myself.

When the Man couldn't find my home, he picked me up and brought me to the Animal Hospital.

I needed a new kitty hip, and they don't come cheap. The Man asked his friends if they could help with the green papers. To his surprise, and my everlasting gratitude, they did. They told their friends, and their friends told their friends until my story went around the world, and more than a thousand green papers flew to the Man to pay for my bionic hip.

The Man and his friends had a contest to give me a forever name. That's how I got my name, "Millie."

The Man is named Malcolm, and he is my Hero. Who would have thought that what started as one of the worst days of my life, could turn out to be one of the best!

Five years ago today. Nope, no way am I ever gonna forget that day. Happy Rescue-versary to me!

Thanks Malcolm!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Mom's got all her errands done. She's done the food hunting, the fabric hunting, the dishwasher is running and the laundry is being shuffled. She's restocked my cabinet of stinky goodness and refilled the treat tin. Mom's been watching the tennis at Wimbledon, and I'm napping in my current favorite spot, the cat bed my sweetie, Monty sent me.

All's right with the world.

Sad Saturday

I am sad. One of my oldest friends in the blogosphere, Bubbles, ran away to the Bridge yesterday. He was a legend. Mom and I are sending purrs and hugs to his fambly.

Family Friday

The quilt Mom calls Laughing Out Loud is back from an extended trip to Tennessee. As you can see, we are getting re-acquainted.

Gosh I hope it stops raining soon!

Thursday Thought

Oh-oh. I'm supposed to have something pithy to say to day, and I'm not ready...

Uh...

Umm...

It's been pouring rain out and I'm sick of it.

White Tummy Wednesday

Mom was so frazzled last night when she got home from day-hunting she had Nah-chos for dinner! I sat right next to her and gave her purrs.

She's lucky to have me.

Tuxie Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom tries to sneak up on me and take a picture. I can hear her coming a mile away.

Mom is going get another Fairy Oddkid. I am going to be an Honorary AuntieCat.

Millie Monday

It was a nice, sunny weekend. I sat in the window.

Mom had a nice weekend too, but she didn't get all her chores done. She spent a lot of time sewing and chillaxing.

She's learning!

Finally Friday

Mom got home late last night. She attended PlusOne's graduation from middle school. The event was held in the high school gymnasium. It was hot out, and there was no air conditioning. Everybody had to sit on the bleachers, and Mom was stiff when it was all over.

When Mom got home, she read her email, then we had dinner. She emptied all the trash, put out the recycling, and then paid all the Mr Bills.

She didn't do any dishes, she didn't do any sewing. She said her get-up-and-go has got up and left.

I tried to tell her if she was so tired, she should stay home and nap, but No-o. She says she just -has- to go day hunting. I think she's counting the hours until the weekend.

However, we would like to wish the Happiest of Happy Birthdays to MomBean!

The Boston Bruins Win the Stanley Cup!

Mom and I watched the last game of the Stanley Cup, and our team, the Bruins, won it.
I think my new favorite sport is hockey.

Now Boston (and New England) fans can say our sports teams have won every trophy in the last 10 years. 3 Super Bowls, 2 World Series, one NBA Championship, and now this.

Pretty cool!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom went to see the human bone v-e-t today to get the result of her Em-Are-Eye. One of her disks is a little squashed, but that's not really what's making her back hurt.

She's got a bad man in her back. His name is Arthur-Eye Tish.

wait a minute... I hear Mom calling me...

hang on...

...

Mom says I have it wrong. She says there isn't a bad man in her back. She has Osteo-arthritis in the lumbar region of her back. She says the arthuritis... I mean arthritis is squeezing the nerves in her spine and that makes her back hurt.

She says it's good, but I dunno HOW it could be good. There is no cure for arthritis. Mom has to keep herself flexible (I can help give her lessons with that), and she has to be sure to exercise, and stretch every day. (I can help with those, too.) She has to be careful how she does things, and she can't "overdo." The next time she wants to move stuff around, she has to ask for help.

Mom says it could have been worse. She doesn't have a bad disease, and her bones are not broken.

Mom says Mim-may and Pip-pay both have arthritis in their backs too, and that arthritis happens to a lot of beans when they get old.I have been doing a lot of thinking, and I think if I can help Mom by sitting next to her, purring while getting scritches, well then, that's gonna be my new job.

Millie Monday

OK everybody, I get it. I have to give my Mom a break.
I wasn't so much upset with her as I was with those stupid lazy servants that take up so much of her free time. Mom explained the servants are getting old, and they will be retiring soon. When the servants retire, new faster virtual servants are taking their place, and Mom won't be responsible for them. Until that happens, though, Mom says she may have to work a few more weekends.

I don't like it, but I understand.

Mom and I have a good relationship, and whenever I ask, she sits down so I can climb into her lap and get as many scritches as I want. She also lets me express my opinions, which is really pretty cool.

Where Was I?

My apologies, dear friends, for my blogging absence yesterday. Mom had to go to her day hunting gig (yes, on Saturday!!) to put her servants to sleep and wake them up again after an electrical man did a bit of magic. Mom was gone half the day, and then she went food hunting and did stupid cleaning junk.

I had a long chat with Mom about it. Everything is back to normal today, I am very pleased to say.

Heh.

Fun Friday

I love the teaser toy game. Mom and I play every night before she goes to bed.I really like playing it through the curtain that hangs in the doorway when the air colditioner is running.

Thinking Thursday

I was just thinking:

1. Mom put the coldbox in the window in her bedroom. It makes it a lot comfier for me to lie on the bed while I watch the birdies out the other window. My Mom is so thoughtful.

2. Mom said the Em Are Eye was a piece of cake, except it was a noisy sucker. She didn't need the drugs, didn't want the music, and wished she had had some earplugs. Can't say I blame her except I would have liked a nice juicy piece of BEEF!

3. It's hot out.

4. Umm...

5. I want the Boston Bruins to win Sir Stanley's Cup. (Mom said I had to put that in.)

Tattle-Tale Turkey Tuesday

Yes, that is a wild turkey at the front door of Mom's day hunting place. Mom went into the building by a different door. She says wild turkeys may be stupid, but they can also be kinda mean.

Millie Monday

My pal Roger didn't win yesterday, but I still love him.

Today is my sweetie's birthday. Happy Birthday Monty Q! I am sending you purrs and smootchies!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Mom and I are ready. Mom has done the dishes, she has mowed the lawn. The groceries are finished, the garden is planted and watered. I have had breakfast, done my bizness in the litter box, and had my morning nap.

Mom turned off the ringer of her cell phone. She won't be answering the door, she won't be answering the phone. I won't be visiting my blogging pals. We are going to watch Tennis.

We are settling down to watch Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the Men's Final of the French Open.

See you later!

It's later.
:(

YAY ROGER!

My very favorite tennis player of all time, Roger Federer, won in Paris yesterday.
This was a Very Big Deal since the guy he beat, Novak Djokovic, hasn't lost a match all year, and was expected to win the French Open.Sorry, Novak.

(Not!)

Family Friday

I have been camping out on the nice comfy wing chair in Mom's room, watching her. She's been having problems with her back, and has been seeing the human v-e-t about it. She had lots of x-rays, and nothing is broken so that's good, but now she needs an Emm-Are-Eye and she isn't very happy about it.So when she got home yesterday to find this fun package sitting on the doorstep she was pretty happy. It's from our Fairy Oddkids, KidBean, SweetBean and Mooshie.

Inside were lots of goodies. Mom kept squeeing every time she took something out of the bin. This picture is cock-eyed, and Mom doesn't know why, but you get the idea. Lots of fabrics, some paintings from the kids, a notebook, some dishtowels and some other really neat stuff.
This was one of the things Mom liked best.Mom was wicked happy. Me too, because when Mom's happy, I'm happy.

Thoughtful Thursday

We didn't have any of the bad storms that hit our neighbors in Mass-a-choo-cats yesterday. The weather guys said if there is a tornado warning to hide in the basement or an "interior space." Mom says this drawer doesn't count. Bast!
