Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom went to see the human bone v-e-t today to get the result of her Em-Are-Eye. One of her disks is a little squashed, but that's not really what's making her back hurt.

She's got a bad man in her back. His name is Arthur-Eye Tish.

wait a minute... I hear Mom calling me...

hang on...

...

Mom says I have it wrong. She says there isn't a bad man in her back. She has Osteo-arthritis in the lumbar region of her back. She says the arthuritis... I mean arthritis is squeezing the nerves in her spine and that makes her back hurt.

She says it's good, but I dunno HOW it could be good. There is no cure for arthritis. Mom has to keep herself flexible (I can help give her lessons with that), and she has to be sure to exercise, and stretch every day. (I can help with those, too.) She has to be careful how she does things, and she can't "overdo." The next time she wants to move stuff around, she has to ask for help.

Mom says it could have been worse. She doesn't have a bad disease, and her bones are not broken.

Mom says Mim-may and Pip-pay both have arthritis in their backs too, and that arthritis happens to a lot of beans when they get old.I have been doing a lot of thinking, and I think if I can help Mom by sitting next to her, purring while getting scritches, well then, that's gonna be my new job.

You sitting next to Mom should cure any old backache!

Old Arthur visits many people and animals. Maybe if you lay next to your mom's back the warmth will feel good too. Purrs.

Wow - you're becoming a real expert on bean v-e-t stuff, aren't you Millie? It's good that your mom now knows what's causing the problem and has some steps that she can take to help it.

I think you should encourage your mom to lie face down on the sofa, and let you walk up and down on her back before stretching out on it for a snooze. That - and all the help you'll be giving her with stretching and exercising - will do her a lot of good. Purring also helps.

I hope your Mom's back will improve if she is careful about what she does. No moving furniture, Mom! My Dad has had back issues with arthritis stiffness off and on and he has found that the best thing to do is exercises every single morning that help to strengthen his back muscles. He swears by this book:

M has that Art guy on her back too. She likes it when I gives her massages.

Mum says that is going to be very ouchie for your Mom Millie so you have to make her sit down more and you must get on top of her to make her rest her poorly back. We can teleport over and help if you need a rest.

Yes. You sitting there and purring while you get scritches will definitely help your Mom.

Arthritis in old people sucks the big one. Maw has it in her left thumb joint and has to wear a brace during the night to keep it from hurting during the day!

Maybe you can lie on her back and purr too - I've heard that the vibrations from purrs can do lots of healing!

You are so cute, a real darling, Millie!
I also think that your walking over your Mom's back will make her feel better, above all if you are purring very loud in the same time!

Kisses,

My Human has some Arthur-itis also. She's older than dirt though, so it's probably only to be expected.
