Mmm Mmm Monday

First, here is the "famous tree". When D and A arrived last night, the first thing D asked was "Where is the famous tree?" (She couldn't see it because, you know, it was dark...)

Well this is the tree, and it has no fewer leaves on it than it did yesterday. Megan-from-Australia, I regret to inform you that you are not the winner of the Last Leaf Falls Contest. There is a big fambly dinner planned for tonight. There is already cake in the oven, and this...will be simmering on the hot-as-hell box later today.

I can't wait.

Sunday Funday!

WOW! It looked like the strong winds knocked the last leafs off the tree yesterday! Mom walked over and took a closer look to check for sure. But no.There are still dried up dead leafs clinging to their branches of the tree. There are several clumps of them, and Mom has highlighted two in this picture. In this detail photo below (which you can click to biggify), you can see several of them.

Momsbusy - you did not win the Last Leaf Falls Contest. The wind was good to blow many leafs away, but many houses in New Hampster do not have electricity because of it. Mom went food hunting yesterday afternoon to find the store completely dark! She had to drive across town to another store.

Why is today Sunday Funday? Mom's very first internet friend, a lady she has been emailing now for almost ten years, is coming to New Hampster to visit. This will be the second time they see each other in person! (First was when Mom and Mim-May visited Mr Photographer & fam about five years ago.)

"D" and her husband "A" are from Catifornia and spent Turkey Day in NYC with their daughters. Today they take the train to Beantown, where they will get a bus here. Mom will pick them up and bring them over to meet me, and then bring them to their hotel. D and A will be visiting for a couple of days. There is a big fambly dinner scheduled for Monday Night.

Now you know why Mom has been cleaning the house like crazy!
Me, I'm just catching up on my Beauty Sleep!

Saturday Caturday

Here is our tree today. You can't see it, but it is VERY, VERY windy today, and some of the drief up leafs have been blown off our tree, but there are still some very stubborn leafs hanging on. This means LC, Iza, and Ayla will not be the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest. It is so windy, the Santa and Snowman decorations that usually stand on either side of the front door of this house got blown right over.So I'm staying warm inside and I have a good napping spot.
Mom's gonna clean the house today, and that means the rug-sucking monster will be making an appearance. She's also working of a few Gizzy Quilts...

Finally Friday

Furrkids Mom, there are still leafs on the tree across the street, even though the rain is trying very hard to knock them off. You are not the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest.
Mom did a good job yesterday. The turkey she served for dinner was the second turkey she had ever cooked in her entire life. She followed this recipe. She put the turkey in a big pan of water and junk on Wednesday morning, and took it out before it went in the hot-as-hell box yesterday.

Mom cooked "the usual suspects," smashed potatoes, squished squash with maple syrup, buttered brussels sprouts, roasted onions swimming in balsamic vinegar; her red pepper soup, some spicy drunken cranberries, a loaf of her awesome bread and devil-stuffed eggs (I personally do not know anything about a devil.) Mim-may made the meat stuffing. Together they made some awesome gravy. It smelled awesome, tasted great, and everybody had a great time. Today Mom is going to follow my example and spend the day napping and relaxing.

Finally!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mom and I want to wish all our friends in the Blogosphere a very Happy Thanksgiving!
I am very thankful to have my Mom and my (very) big extended fambly. Love, hugs, smootchies and purrs to all of you.
*PS, Frostin, Susan, you did not win the Last Leaf Falls Contest.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Mamacat and the Furry Purries, as you can see, the tree still has leafs, so you will not win the Last Leaf Contest.Mom got a new pair of glasses. She is wicked happy because she can see better with them. My duties as Quality Assurance Inspector are not limited to the quilts she makes. Everything that comes in here needs inspection.
These passed. (Did you know Mom's an eyeglass snob? She really likes neat glasses frames. She isn't a spiffy dresser, but she thinks glasses are like jewelry you wear every day.)

In other news, Mom's being appropriately weird in advance of Turkey Day. The turkey is now taking a bath in a giant pot in the coldbox.

I am so glad I'm a cat.

Tuxie Tuesday

I'm really tired of the tree. It's supposed to DROP leafs, but it still has some.
Cat of Nine Tails and Victoria, that means you have not won the Last Leaf Contest.
I'm taking it easy. The weather is lousy, but Mom isn't complaining. The S-word is nowhere in the weatherman's forecast!

Millie Monday

The leafs are still stuck to the tree. Zoolatry, you guys have not won the Last Leaf Contest.
Mom goes day hunting today after a week of stay-cation. She says she's gonna be wicked busy because she has to hunt the ever elusive Month End before Turkey Day. Then the Turkey Day festivities will be here, and we'll have "Company." Good thing I don't have to do any of that "werk."

Easy Like Sunday Morning

To my furriends, the Furry Bambinos, there are still leafs on the tree, so you did not win the Last Leaf Contest. (If you entered the Last Leaf Contest, and you forgotted what day you picked, look in the sidebar, we have a list...)That tree is being very stubborn. Mom says it is a true New Englander; determined, stubborn and independent.

I am taking it very easy this Sunday. Mom is in the kitchen cooking. The turkey is gonna be dunked and cooked here on Thursday, and she's getting ready.

At least the house -smells- good!

Secret Paw Saturday

That darn tree hasn't lost many leafs, even though we had a downpour of rain yesterday. Nora, Caity & Millie, you will not be the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest. If the leafs do NOT fall off the tree before December 16, then Scooby, Shaggy & Scout will be declared the winners.

I have received my Secret Paw match. I am furry excited, and already have Plans!but I'm not telling! I'm keeping this secret!

I just found out SOCKS is home, and will be an indoor kitty from now on... Go CB for purring him home. Now we just have to get Mr Tigger home...

Formerly Feral Friday

When it's a cold, and rainy day, like today, when the leafs on the tree across the street are -still- on the tree, and your friends Derby and Poppy Q have not won the Last Leaf Falls Contest....
It's really good you are a -formerly- feral cat with a good home and a nice warm place to nap.

Thinking Thursday

Here is today's picture of our tree with its stubborn leafs. Rusty and Deb, Boo-bah, you have not won the Last Leaf Falls Contest. Mom says a brisk wind would probably knock those last leafs down, but no such wind is forecast.
When Mom works in the Sewing Room, I love to make her think. This is my bionic leg sticking out from under the bureau. What do you think?

(I think Mr Tigger and Socks should get their furry butts HOME!)

What's Up Wednesday?

Roxy & Lucky; Milo & Alfie, there are still leafs on the tree, so you will not be the winners of the Last Leaf Contest.
What's up with this? That's our tree across the street, but this picture wasn't taken this morning. It was taken a long, long, long time ago. February 2003!

What's so unusual, you ask? Click the picture to biggify. Then look at our tree really closely... What do you see?I see leafs!!!!!!

What's gonna happen if the tree doesn't lose all its leafs by December 16 (the date of the last guess of the Last Leaf Contest)?
When in doubt, wash.

Tuxie Tuesday

Lookit our tree across the street. It doesn't have very many leafs left, but some are still hanging on. Cory & Camie's Kitties, you will not be the winners of the Last Leaf Contest.

Pip-pay's hip surjery went very well, now he is on the road to recovery and we hope it's a short one. Today is the day Mom's metal masheen goes to get fixed.

Mom's got the whole house cleaned except for the Sewing Room and the Table Room. She says the Table Room has stuff in it that has to be moved to the dungeon and that's no big deal. In the sewing room, however...

Monday, November 16, 2009

Hip, Hip, Hoo-ray! Pip-pay is OK!

Hip, hip... Mom sure is funny! Pip-pay's doctors said the surjery would take an hour and a half, if everything went well, and they were exactly right. An hour and a half after he went in, he had his new bionic hip and he was on his way to the recovery room. Everything went according to plan, and Pip-pay's heart was A-O-K during the whole thing. The doctors told Mim-may and Mom to go home and come visit tomorrow, that Pip-pay would be too sleepy to even know they were there.

WELL! Mom brought Mim-may home, and was making dinner when the phone rang, and it was Pip-pay! He said he wasn't feeling any pain at all! He sounded great!

If his bionic hip continues to heal the way it should, he will be moved to a rehab facility on Wednesday or Thursday, and should be home with Mim-may and Missy in time for Turkey Day next week!

I want to thank every cat, kit, woofie, bun & bean who found time to send a purr or prayer in Pip-pay's direction. To all the cats who were kind enough to teleport over and purr with me during the day, you have my most profound thanks.

The Cat Blogosphere Rocks!

Smootchies to all!

Purr-ayers Needed!

My Pip-pay is having surgery today. He needs a new hip, and his heart isn't so good. His doctors are gonna be very careful, but I would appreciate your thoughts and purrs. I really like Pip-pay, and everybody in the family loves him. Mom is gonna be with Mim-may all day. I'm gonna have my purr-er working overtime all day long. Any cats who want to teleport over and purr with me are most welcome.

thanks!

Here's the tree today, for those playing the Last Leaf Contest.Angel & Kirby, you will not be the winners.

Eureka Sunday!

Here's our tree this morning. As you can all see, it still has a lot of leafs. That means Kikkycat and Meemsnyc aren't the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest. Sorry. You can click the picture biggify and see the details yourself.

Mom's doing the Happy Dance of Joy! She finished cleaning out the Computer Room. Now she's renamed it "The Office." Here's a little tour...

She went through every box, every shelf, every drawer and every file. Everything got cleaned, dusted and sorted. She filled three more big black bags with shredded paper. She's moved a lot of stuff out to be thrown away. There will be more stuff for the garbage men next week.

Of course, the rest of the house is a complete disaster.

Saturday Caturday

Our tree still has leafs. It is being very stubborn. It is raining today, maybe that will help.
Mom worked in the computer room -again- last night. She worked on these shelves above the desk. She took all the books off, then cleaned each shelf (she had to stand on the desk to do it) and then put the books back.
She still has more work to do, but she says it isn't much. She says the end is in sight, and she wants to finish today. Her metal macheen has been deemed DND* (Do Not Drive) since the Check Engine light blinked on and off a few times on her way home from day hunting yesterday, so she's confined home for a couple of days. She might actually get the room finished.

*Apparently when the Check Enginer light blinks, it is worse than the Check Engine light just lighting up. The Metal Macheen Vet will see it on Tuesday. Mom expects it will take many green papers to fix.

Jamie Marie, if you want the Babble Ball, it's yours, but you have to email me (darlingmillie AT gmail DOT com) your address!

Finally Friday!

Our tree still has some leafs, so Island Cats, you did not win the Last Leaf Contest. The weather guy says we might have some rain tonight and tomorrow, and some "blustery winds" so the tree could lose more leafs over the next day or two.
Mom didn't do too much in the computer room last night. She got home late. She ordered some new glasses for her nose and eyes, but they won't be ready until about Turkey Day. Even then, she will have to give away many many many green papers to get them. Dunno why, but I think it has something to do with her getting old.

Anyway, she brought out all the trash bags to the street because it is garbage day today. She filled FOUR big barrels full of junk. She did threw out a lot of old computer junk, and she tossed a lot of cast-ettes. She's posted more books on the Paperback Book Swap too.

Speaking of which... I have a Babble Ball toy. I find it very loud, and do not like it at all. If anycat would like it, I'd be more than happy to send it your way. Just let me know.

A Plea for Help

Our tree still has leafs. Cindy, Camp Stanhope, you did not win the Last Leaf Contest.Mom is still cleaning the computer room. There's lots of stuff for me to sniff and new things for me to look at and new (empty) places for me to explore!

But I have a request from you. Mom has a friend Julie, who lives with her husband and cat Angel in Memphis Tennessee. Recently, after a brief illness, Julie's MIL passed away, and Julie adopted the two cats, Star and Rufus. It was very sudden.

Star is 18. Angel is 15 and was always an Only Cat. Rufus is 11. All cats are fixed. There is an auto feeder for kibble and an auto feeder for water. Each cat has a Gizzy Quilt. The house is spacious. There are four litter boxes. You can see where this is going.

Star is settling in well, Angel is fine, but Rufus has been peeing all over Julie's house and sewing room. He pee'd on her quilt fabric, so a screen door was installed, and Julie had to wash all the fabric.

Rufus and Angel cannot handle being in the same room together without chasing/snarling/growling/hissing/cornering/stalking/swatting/etc. (no matter WHICH room, no matter who else is there, no matter what time of day)

Julie has bought some Feliway, and is hoping that helps.

We all know that beans put up with our more trivial "bad" habits, like jumping on stuff, leaving our furs all over the place and scratching the furniture (to say nothing of THoE in the middle of the night), but they have no tolerance for a cat that won't use the litterbox, so Rufus is In Big Trouble.

I know I have many faithful readers who live in multi-cat households, and if you have ideas about what can help, would you please visit Julie and leave suggestions on her blog, here. If you feel the need to contact her privately, she has a link to her email address in her profile.

Thank you very much.

Tomorrow I will have more boring details of Mom's shredding frenzy. (PS, now they sell special "shredder lubricant sheets" which quiet squeaky shredders. Ask me how I know this.)

Wayback Wednesday

Here's our tree this morning. Sorry Crew, there are still leafs on the tree, so you will not win the Last Leaf Falls Contest.

Mom's still at it.
She filled two more big black bags with shredded paper, and the shredder is whining. Mom has oiled it, but she thinks she needs to buy special shredder oil. Her shredder doesn't have destructions for oiling. Last night Mom went through a drawer in the file cabinet. She found some picture of Gizzy as a young kit. Lookit those big ears!

Tattle Tail Tuesday

Hi everybody! Here's the tree outside this morning. It's still got leafs! Amy & The House of Cats, you will not be the winners of the Last Leaf Contest.
Last night after dinner, Mom went back into the computer room to finish cleaning up. Does this look like CLEANING to you? All she did was take papers from one box, and put them in other boxes! Go figure! She says this is better! Who's she trying to fool? Before she went to bed, the room looked like this:Which I have to admit looks a lot better. The shredder got a good workout. I guess it was really hungry. Mom filled two more big black bags. She says the shredder has got more coming to it, but I don't think it's very happy, because it's been squeaking. Mom says this room will take another two days, maybe three, before it is clear of all the junk she has collected.

You can find me in my cat hammick in the sewing room!

Messy Monday

Here is our tree this morning. It doesn't look a whole lot different from yesterday. Many of the trees in the neighborhood have lost most of their leaves.Mom says she spent yesterday cleaning. She did no such thing. She made a BIGGER mess. She took stuff out of one bookcase in the computer room, and moved it to her bookcase in her bedroom. She took books from her bedroom and moved them to the computer room. She moved everything around in the bookcase in the picture box room and put some of the things from the computer room bookcase in there. As you can see, there are still stacks of stuff all over the place. She ran the shredder a lot and filled THREE big black garbage bags full of fun paper bits, but she took the bags out to the trash before I got to play with them.
She pushed the moving sidewalk machine to another part of the computer room, and dragged the rug sucking monster around a bit. She cleaned off the drafting table and put her tippy tappy lapox right smack dab in the middle. She says she has "Plans!" (she always has "Plans!")She's got piles of old junk she wants to throw away, and more boxes of paper she has to sort through. She has some FIRM exercise videos on VHS she has to get rid of.) Mom says if you want them, and are willing to pay for shipping, email me at darlingmillie AT gmail DOT com.)
The air colditioner is still up here, and she's waiting for Mr Karate to come over and bring it down to the dungeon along with another big thing she can't wrangle by herself.

Where am I, you want to know? What are you, nuts? I was Very Far Away!
