I don't often nap on Mom's bed, but if I can get on it before she makes it up, it is a comfy spot.
It's that time of year again, the big W. It's gonna be all tennis all the time around here for the next "fortnight." Mom's picks are Roger Federer (duh!) and Andy Murray on the Men's side.
Mom's feeling better, and I make sure she takes a little rest every day.

My Rescue-versary
Mom often says how life is funny. Who in their right minds would celebrate the day they got hit by a car and left for dead in the middle of a busy street?
Um, well, if you get rescued, your leg gets fixed up, you make a squillion new friends, and get a furrever home in the end... Me!
I was a feral kit. I didn't even have a name, so they wrote "No Name Yet" on the bill. It was two pages long...
Mom was one of the many cat lovers who helped with green papers to pay this big bill to fix my "bionic leg."
Ugly, isn't it? It healed up great, and I can run and jump like any other cat. Ask Mom, she can never catch me (heh!)
That was nine years ago. I have a terrific furrever home, friends all over the world, and I am a Very Lucky Cat.
Who would have thought that the very worst day of my short life would turn out to be one of the best of what has become a long, full life.
Life is indeed funny. Mom says we should all keep our "I love yous" up to date.
Thank you, and I love you all.
smootchies,
Millie

Feline Friday
It is raining this morning, so I am not on the front porch. Instead I am on my kitty condo, and it has a great view of the outside. I was looking out there when Mom came in the office with the flashy box, so I had to see what she was up to. That's why you don't see me looking outside.
Mom has been doing a lot of resting lately. She's read three books in the last week alone. She is feeling better. Now I have to go back to watching over the neighborhood.
see ya!

Millie Monday
Mom was surprised to see me at the very tippy-top of the kitty condo in the studio. I don't usually get way up here, but as you can see I am quite comfortable. It is supposed to be a very nice day today. We had rain all day yesterday, and although that is good, I like the sunny days best.
Mom's feeling better. She doesn't need to be held down any longer.

Almost Wordless Wednesday
I am On Patrol. I am protecting Mom from the Evil Lymes. She is going back to her day hunting gig today. I would prefer she stay home so I can hold her down on the couch.
Happy Birthday MomBean! Mom and I love you lots and lots!

Mom is Sick
A bug bit Mom and she might have Lime Disease. Oops. Mom says it is Lyme Disease, and it is nasty. She needs me, and I am more than happy to help her get better.
I am also happy because it means she won't be spending so much time in the garden. She'll be in the house with me.
Heh.

Pardon My Absence...
It has been a few, shall we say, "interesting" days for Mom lately. She has not been feeling well, so she's been sacked out on the couch, popping pills. Up until about 2:00 yesterday afternoon, this was the high point of her day.
These strawberries are from our front yard. It was wild strawberries all over.
About 2PM however, while Mom was outside watering her garden, I heard her scream.
And scream.
And scream.
WHAT could make her do that?
None other than Mr Karate himself, who flew across the country, all the way from the City of Angels, to be here for PlusOne's high school graduation. To say Mom was surprised is an understatement of epic proportions. He had told no one he was coming.
PlusOne was very pleased. Apparently Mr Karate was the only person he really, really, really wanted there.
Mr Karate flew in on the redeye, and left at dawn this morning. I know Mom would have liked to spend more time with him, but she is still smiling, so it is OK.
Me? I've been napping and hanging out on the porch as usual. I expect today will be a LOT quieter.

The Front Porch
The weather has been so lovely lately that Mom gets home from day hunting and opens the door to the front porch for me. While she does her stuff, I hang out on the porch. She has been fighting a cold and other stuff lately so she has been napping on the couch and going to bed early. Last night she left the front door open after she went to bed so I could stay on the porch longer.
It was pawsome. I stayed out there until 2 AM, when she got up and closed it.
If she tries to go on the porch when I am out there, I hiss at her, so she can't take any pictures of me.
These are some of our peonies. Aren't they pretty? Mom says they smell good too.

Tuxie Tuesday (or Not)
This is not me. This isn't 'Nip either.
I do not know why, but Mom calls this plant "Cousin It." She has three of them.*** She planted more stuff in the garden, but nope, no 'Nip yet. She claims she keeps forgetting. She says I have at least THREE bags of 'Nip here in the house, and that she can't plant FRESH 'Nip in the garden because other rude neighborhood cats will roll all over it and wreck it.
I have been camping out on the front porch, in the dark, watching everything, including the rain.
I have not been posing for pictures lately. Mom has been watching (and re-watching) the tennis from Paris. She was very happy that Stan won.
*** Mom says this is Hakonechloa Aureola.

Monday Annoyances
I get annoyed when Mom disrupts my napping.
Mom gets annoyed with bad spelling on signs. PlusOne was particularly annoyed with this one because he plays the Cello. It isn't "Celloist," it's "Cellist." So when they were together last weekend and saw this sign, they had to stop to take a picture.
That wasn't enough. "I feel the need to fix it," said PlusOne.
So he did.
I guess the world will spin a little more smoothly now...
Update: PlusOne put the extra O in an inconspicuous corner of the sign.

In The Garden on Saturday
Mom did chores this morning. I did this.
Mom saw a new visitor in the garden. He did not want to meet her, and he slid away.
Our peonies are blooming.
This planter of pansies and false cypress greets you as you pull into our driveway.
Mom has two of these planters filled with plants to attract hummingbirds. We do have a hummer in our yard. Mom saw him today as she was standing on the porch.
This planter has a silver Heuchera, a Trollius and a Bugbane. I do not know what any of those are, but Mom seems pretty excited about them.
Mom really likes this planter with a red Canna. Around it she planted some Dusty Miller and some Pinkish Heucheras. She also planted a Columbine and some other stuff I can't pronounce. In back of the big rock she planted some Lavender and a tall Echinacea. There are lots of pretty things to look at and I am excited to be living here. It is very quiet and pretty.

Thursday Thing
It's been a busy week for Mom. On Tuesday she attended PlusOne's concert. Last night she visited with a friend from Chicago, and tonight she's going to the Art Museum.
Fortunately, Mom has come home each night and prepared my dinner before going out again.

Wet Week
Yesterday it rained.
It rained so hard the rain ran down the street like a little river. Fortunately we live on a hill, and the water flowed down and into the grate in the street.
When Mom was working in the garden yesterday, she saw this little guy hiding near the downspout. I'm sure he's happy today with all the rain. It's supposed to rain most of the week, and we need the rain, so that's good.
