Whatzit Wednesday?

This is the view on the other side of our house. This picture was taken last December.
Last week, some beans dug some holes on our street, and planted big black sticks. What were these going to be for?
Mom wondered if it would be an arch like this one, way down at the other end of the street:When she got home from her day hunting gig last night, she found this:I watched the beans build it. I wasn't impressed. Mom wasn't sure if she liked it.
But as the sun went down, Mom changed her mind. Now she thinks it's kinda neat. We can see it from inside the house. It casts its shadow in the street.

There are other arches like this around the city. Some of them are lit up. We don't know yet if our arch will be lit up at night, too. We'll have to wait and see.

What Mom isn't keen about, is the name, "Rimmon Heights." She's never heard of this neighborhood referred to that way in her entire life. She said somebody called Polly Tishan must have decided to name it. She doesn't seem to like this Polly very much. Now, this area is the highest point in the city, so we get the "Heights" part, and "Rock Rimmon" is a big landmark around here, so that's probably where that came from. She thinks it's kinda weird.

I guess she'll just have to get used to it.

Millie Doodle

Here's my Millie Doodle. Mom says it's very hard for a real live artist to do a quick doodle and not try to make a real live artist drawing. So I posed for 60 seconds. Haha!

Chummy Tummy Tuesday

OK, this isn't a tummy shot. Mom had one all picked out, but I decided to show this wonderful graphic designed by Zoolatry, just for me.

I've been very chummy with Mom lately. Whenever I want something, I just go find her, and ask very politely. Sometimes she's busy, and I have to ask two or three times. She tries real hard, but she just doesn't get it. Eventually I'll get her to find her way to the recliner, and she sits in it, making room for me.

I play hard to get (I'm a CAT, after all), but eventually I curl up next to her and she pets me the way I want. I purr to make her feel like she's got it right. You know, Beans need a little positive reinforcement. Not a LOT, mind you, we can't have them feeling like they're in charge or anything...

I've even learned to lie on the ironing table, in the big empty space she needs to use. Or on top of the quilt pieces she is working with to get her attention.

She's learning.

Mr Karate Monday

Mr Karate slept at our house Saturday night. That's why he looked sleepy in yesterday's post.

He lives in a town 18 miles away. Here he is, getting ready to ride back home on his spiffy new bike:Biggify this picture below, and check out his sunglasses!
Mom has finished setting up her new computer, and spent the weekend sewing (when she wasn't eating waffles). The quilts for Lilly Lu, Mu Shue & Iris will be finished this week.

OH! OH! OH! OH!

Mom planted me a pot full of 'Nip!

finally.

Happy Mother's Day

Mom and Mr Karate and the rest of the Family will be having their traditional Mother's Day Waffle Breakfast at Roxy & Lucky's.

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms everywhere!

(P.S. Mom just called Monty's MomBean. Both Mom and NewBean are just fine, and they will probably go home tomorrow. GrandBean will be there, so they will be in good hands.)

The Stork Has Arrived!

The Stork Has Arrived!

It's Miles' Meezer's birthday today. He's havin' a big party. I'll be there to celebrate a bit later...

Right now I've gotta go celebrate with Monty Q, because the stork has arrived with Little NewBean!

She was born at 5:31 AM EDT this morning. She has reddish brown hair and weighs in at 7 pounds 6 ounces. Mombean says she is very dainty, and the nurses say she has a temper!!

Oops... I forgot to say she has blue eyes.

...psst... Mom! Does this make me an auntie-kitty?

Fanatic Friday

Mom -finally- did it. She finally got herself a new computer. She's only been trying to get a new one for about a year now. The new one is the little one on the left. She has a kayvee-ahem switch so she can have the two computers on using one monitor and keyboard, and mouse. She's copying files from her old computer to a portable 300 Gig hard drive, then onto the new one.

The vendor goofed though. Mom has a spiffy w-i-d-e flat panel monitor, and it uses a special video card. She told him she HAD a special video card and didn't need to buy another one. No problem. Except when she cracked the case of the new computer to install it -- there is no special slot for the special video card she already has. Oops.

She is a very good customer, and she knows she will be taken care of. But she says it's very annoying because until she can use the right video card, the pictures all look s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out. And that makes her a little crazy.

Frankly, I think she's a little crazy to begin with.

Mom's got quilts designed for Lilly Lu, Mu Shue & Iris and she'll be sewing them this weekend (if she can pry herself away from the new computer). When she's done those (and two others also in the works) she is gonna concentrate on her Super-Duper Secret Project that she won't tell anybody anything about.

She said I would never get ANY treats or ANY 'Nip for -The Rest of My Life- if I spilled the beans, so you guys aren't getting any clues from ME!

At first I thought this was a Terrible Thing. But then it dawned on me -- if she can't tell anybody about her Super Secret Project -- then she won't be hijacking my blog! I can have it ALL to MYSELF!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen MORE Things I Do Not LikeLast week my T13 was about things I don't like. I have more.

1. I don't like it when air blows at me.
2. I don't like being in a room with the door closed (last week #1), but I also don't like it when Mom is in her room with the door closed and I am on the other side.
3. I don't like it when I have to wait for dinner.
4. I don't like shouting. (Mom never shouts, but the sticky people next door do.)
5. I don't like it when Mom doesn't plant 'Nip for me!
6. I don't like it when some other bean or woofie sits on my pillows, beds, or blankies. I won't sit on them after that.
7. I don't like it when Mom doesn't give me the attention that I want.
8. I don't like getting my claws trimmed.
9. I don't like that Mom can't figure out what I want when I ask politely.
10. I don't like that I can't go outside.
11. I don't like being cornered.
12. I don't like strangers.
13. I don't like missing what's going on. I want to KNOW!

I think that's it.

What's Wrong Wednesday

There is something wrong with this. What's wrong? Look closer...

There's NO 'NIP!

None!

Zero!

Zip!

Nada!

Rien!
I can't believe Mom didn't plant me any 'Nip, especially when she knows how much I like it.

I'm outta here... I'm gonna visit Monty Q. He appreciates me.

Tuesday Tuxie in the Sun

with tongue.

(Why does that sound a little bit ris-kay? All I'm doing is taking a bath.)

Yo, Monty, c'mon over and spend the day with me, that way you can be out of your snarky MomBean's way if the stork doesn't bring NewBean.)

Monday Madness

A big truck brought some stuff last week, and some beans planted little white flags in the ground.
The flags divide our property with that of the beans next door. They have lots of sticky little people that run in and out of our yard, and their trash gets blown all over the place.
It's a fence!
Now the neighbor's trash stays in his yard, and Mom doesn't have to look at that old Christmas tree any more. Naturally, I supervised the construction.

Derby Day

Mom and I watched the Kentucky Derby yesterday. We were rooting for the filly, Eight Belles. She did very well, and finished the race in second place. Sadly, she broke both her front ankles, and had to go to the Paddock in the Sky.

You guys were pretty good guessing which of the fabrics Mim-may would choose for her backpack. Seven of you chose "B", which was Mim-may's choice!

Mom stayed up wicked late last night working on a project so secret I can't tell you if it is big or small, if it's for a cat or a bean. I can't even tell you what it is, what it looks like, who it is going to, when it is going there or even where it is going.I can't tell you how annoying that is. (And there are NO clues in this picture, either).

Saturday A - B - C

Mom's got to do housework today. Ha ha ha! Not me! I'm going to enjoy the day doing what I want. Although, I have a feeling I'll be hiding from the rug-sucking monster at least once today.

Mom has a question for all of you. You know Mim-may wants a backpack of her own. Mom has these three different fabrics. All cotton canvas. Which one of the three do you think Mim-may will choose? Put your guess in the comments. You can click the pictures to biggify.

This is A. - Turquoise Renata
This is B. - Tea/Black Veronique
This is C. Blue/Green Peapod
Do you think she will pick one of these three, or do you think she will pick:

D. - Something else.

La Backpack

Mom's backpack is finished. Here it is. At first she wasn't quite sure she liked this fabric, but when the pack was almost finished, she knew it was gonna look really great, and now she loves the fabric.
Mom placed the big back pocket "just so" on the fabric, so this "But Why?" eye is centered.
When she made this pocket for the water bottle, she felt the elastic was kinda useless, because her water bottle kept falling out. Wrong! So Mom tightened it up a bit.
Mom has a special case for her iPod, and the iPod in the case wouldn't fit in the pocket the way it was designed, so she fixed it. And yes, she placed that lady's body very precisely on the pocket, and the word "Stop" -- yup that was planned too!
Mom doesn't like the way the earbud cord from the iPod keeps getting caught on stuff. So she added this little loop here for it.
And of course, you have all seen the lining fabric. Doesn't it look great! Everybody who has seen the backpack just loves this lining! Me too!

Mom wants to make some little additions, too, when she makes the next one. She wants to add a little pocket for some money, and one for her ID.

Mim-may has already asked where hers is!

Rocky, nope, Mom is not gonna make these to sell. She says they take too long to make and are too fussy.

Actually, Mom hasn't done anything except sleep, eat and go to her day hunting gig since she started making this. She's got a kitchen full of dirty dishes that she has to do! So before she does any sewing, she's got to do some cleaning up around here.

And there's a little tuxie kitty that wants some ATTENTION!

Heh!

Thursday Thirteen

I was just sitting with Mom, and she was petting me, but then she blew some of my fur off her hands, and I jumped away. It's one of the things I don't like. So I decided that would make a good start to a Thursday Thirteen.

13 Things I Don't Like

1. I do not like being in a room with the door closed.
2. I especially do not like being in the PTU.
3. I do not like being in any kind of container where there is not at least three escape routes.
4. That means I do not get into boxes or bags.
5. I do not like being surprised.
6. I do not like things that rustle, like Mom's puffy pink winter coat, or those shopping bags she sometimes brings stuff home in.
7. I do not like noisy people. Or noisy toys.
8. I do not like being stared at.
9. I do not like tuna.
10. Mom bought me a heated cat cup, and I don't like it. In fact, I have never gotten into it.
11. I do not like anybody touching my feet
12. I do not like being picked up, or held.
13. I do not like my tummy being snorgled.

(Except by Monty Q.)

Mom finished the backpack, and it's gorgeous. She just loves it. Here is an in-progress photo for you. I told her she couldn't hog my blog today and brag about it. (you can click the picture to biggify)
So she's gonna wait till tomorrow.

My bad!

Heh!

And now, (thanks to Pixel), my Knock Knock Joke:

Knock, knock!

Who's there?

Juliet.

Juliet who?

Juliet me in?

Wordy Wednesday

I want to thank my friends Daisy Mae Maus and Poppy Q, and my wonderful sweetheart, Monty Q, for helping me figure out what my 6 word memoir should be. I used ideas from all of them:

Formerly feral feline finds forever friends.

Of course, Monty's version, "Formerly feral foxy femme fatale forever" is pretty tough to beat.

You know Mom is making herself a backpack. (She -should- be washing the dirty dishes and folding the clean laundry, and sewing Gizzy quilts, but No-o-o...) My pals Lyra & Caesar sent some fabric to Mom. (They haven't blogged in a while, but they will be catching up soon!) Mom decided to make the backpack from some of it:

She's almost finished. She just has to add the flap to a pocket, then sew this big thing called a gusset to the front and back pieces, then insert the lining and sew it all up. She says it will be finished tomorrow.

Anyway, in case you guys didn't know about her sense of humor already, here is the pocket for her iPod on the backpack:

I'm still thinking about the six word memoir meme...

Purraying for Orange Boy

I am sending purrayers for Orange Boy. He got bit by a rattlesnake on his head, near his eye. I think that must be worse than getting hit by a car.

Message from Mary Kay

The HAM Meezer Raffle Quilt was delivered to Mary Kay's house on Saturday. She sent this email to Mom, and we thought you'd all like to see it. You can click the pictures to biggify.

Dear Lynne,
The quilt arrived yesterday afternoon. Caesar and Drac have sniffed it and approve. LOL! Please thank Autnie Karate and Mr Karate for us, and tell Millie, Roxy and Lucky that they have done a marvelous job as quality control snooperintdents. I have enclosed some pictures for you to share with everyone. Thank you all again, I will treasure the quilt always.

Fondly,
Mary Kay

Easy Like Sunday

The Family came over last night for a dinner to celebrate Mr Karate's birthday. Auntie & Mr Big & PlusOne, Mim-may & Pip-pay & Missy all came over for dinner. Mom roasted two chickens and asparagus, Mim-may mashed the potatoes and a good time was had by all. Mr Karate prefers brownies to cake, so that's what Mom made. Here is Mr Karate about to eat his serving.
Yes, that is FOUR pieces of brownies, with vanilla ice cream all piled up on top of each other.
Mr Karate ate it ALL!

In other silly news, as if Mom doesn't have enough sewing projects planned, she wants to make herself a backpack so when she walks to the library she can keep the books in the backpack instead of carrying them somehow. Bast forbid she would -buy- herself one. Anyway, she has plenty of material for the backpack itself, but she needed some material for a lining in the backpack, and so she went to the fabric store and came home with this:For some reason she thinks she is very clever and too funny by half. I don't get it, but she claims that all Moms in the blogosphere will agree with her.

Go figure.

(Honest to goodness... I can hear her cackling in the other room. What did I say? What was so funny?)
