It has been a few, shall we say, "interesting" days for Mom lately. She has not been feeling well, so she's been sacked out on the couch, popping pills. Up until about 2:00 yesterday afternoon, this was the high point of her day.
These strawberries are from our front yard. It was wild strawberries all over.
About 2PM however, while Mom was outside watering her garden, I heard her scream.
And scream.
And scream.
WHAT could make her do that?
None other than Mr Karate himself, who flew across the country, all the way from the City of Angels, to be here for PlusOne's high school graduation. To say Mom was surprised is an understatement of epic proportions. He had told no one he was coming.
PlusOne was very pleased. Apparently Mr Karate was the only person he really, really, really wanted there.
Mr Karate flew in on the redeye, and left at dawn this morning. I know Mom would have liked to spend more time with him, but she is still smiling, so it is OK.
Me? I've been napping and hanging out on the porch as usual. I expect today will be a LOT quieter.

Tuxie Tuesday
Hi! It's a nice day here in New Hampster. It's a good day.
Happy Birthday PlusOne! Mom really loves this picture of him when he was just a kit.
This is picture of him Mom took on Sunday. He is 18 today, which is older than, um, kitty litter. Go on over and wish him a Happy Birthday.
Then come back and enter the When When Contest. Pick a day (in 2015, please) that you think all this snow will be ALL GONE! Leave your entry (guess) in the comments of Sunday's Post.
If it will make you feel any better, Mom never guesses the right day, so you have as good a chance as anycat.
Heh.

The Pretty Girl is visiting from Oregon.
Naturally, photographs had to be taken with PlusOne, who is six months older.
Naturally, kids have to show off.

That's Mr Karate on the right, and PlusOne on the left, when he was little. I thought you would enjoy seeing this picture. You can compare it to yesterday's.

Something Fishy
PlusOne came over to help Mom do some cleaning over the weekend. Mom cooked salmon for him. This is noteworthy because PlusOne is a typical teenage fussy eater.
I do not like fish, so that was fine with me.

I Am a Family Cat
I have a couple of fur-cousins who are woofies. They are part of my family. Families come in all shapes and sizes and you have to love your family members, even if they are woofies.
Roxy and Lucky own PlusOne and his Mom and Dad (Auntie Karate & Mr Big.). They are selling raffle tickets to this Asian-themed lap robe to raise money for PlusOne to go to France, Italy and Greece this summer and play music as part of the People to People Student Ambassador Trip.
PlusOne has always been very good to me. He never tries to grab me and he is always very patient with me. I let him pet me, and I like to play with him. He is a good almost grown up sticky bean and I want him to be able to go to Europe and see the world.
The lap robe is 48" x 60" (122 x 152 cm) and will be filled with puffy, very warm batting and tied. It will be PAWSOME for napping on and under. Raffle tickets are $5 USD each. You have to go to Roxy's blog to buy tickets.
Thank you.
your friend,
Millie

Le Weekend
Mom was taming the paper tiger on her desk on Saturday, but we got invaded by these guys
who stayed to watch a movie. (That's PlusOne on the left, and Mr Karate on the right). Mom had to make THREE batches of popcorn with Parmesan cheese for them to eat.
I hid in my tent.
Today Mom finished with the paper tiger, paid all the Mr Bills and now we are watching my pals, the guys named Pat.
Well, sort of. Sometimes those games are just a little bit scary. (I hope we win, I hope we win, I hope we win...)
OMB! OMB! OMB! OMB! (Oh My Bast!) We WON! The guys named Pat are going to the Super Bowl! OMB! Woo Hoo!

Tuxie Tuesday
Mom's life is getting back to "normal" but she's still far behind in helping me with my blogging. She's been so crazy busy since the summer working on the stupid day hunting servants that my blog posts have been very short, and I've hardly been able to visit a lot of my blogging friends or leave as many comments as I would like.
There's a lot going on around here, and I have a lot to tell you about.
First things first. My cousin PlusOne has been accepted into a music program that will allow him to visit Europe next summer. He'll be visiting France, Italy and Greece. (Mom is practically green with envy.) Thing is, though, he'll need lots and lots of green papers to be able to do it. (About six times more green papers than were needed to give me my bionic leg.) It's a very exciting opportunity for a young person to see the world and share music, and I want to help him.
Mom and Auntie Karate are making a big Queen sized quilt to raffle off to help raise green papers. You can buy a raffle ticket for $10USD. Go to Roxy's blog to buy a raffle ticket (or three or four). The button is on the sidebar on the left. Mom and Auntie Karate made a quilt like this before to help some of our friends. You can read about that quilt, and see pictures here.
Mom says there might even be a Gizzy Quilt raffle after the new year, so you kitties (and woofies) won't be left out.
Well, that's enough for one day. I'll catch you all up on the other stuff later. Now it's back to what I do best... hanging out in the cat hammock watching bird tv!
PS This is my 2,000th post! Holy Bast!

Soaking Saturday

The weather report says the temperatures are supposed to be above freezing for the next five or six days, and we are supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow. The snow will melt! The question is, how much, and how fast?
Mom's got a lot of things to do today, and she is very much looking forward to having a piece of this cake.
Me? I'll take Beef Stinky Goodness and Temptations, thank you.

Happy Birthday PlusOne!
Dear Caramel, there is still a lot of snow on the ground. (We even got new snow last night!!!!) I am sorry you did not win the When When Contest. I would have been very happy to declare a winner today.
It is PlusOne's birthday today. He is 14. Mom says he is taller than she is, and he keeps getting taller. Mom loves him very much.
Here he is playing with Mr Karate. (PlusOne is on the left.) Happy Birthday PlusOne!

Stay-Cation, Day 2
I did not think washing the windows was on the plan for stay-cation, but I might have been wrong about that. This is the kitchen window. Know what's wrong with it?
Mom took the windows out last night to wash them.
Yup, she washed them while she watched golf-on-the-rocks.
I don't get it. I'm doing -my- bit according to plan.

Mom says I should tell the -whole truth-.
In addition to washing a couple of windows, and putting a dimmer switch on the ceiling fan in the sewing room, Mom did some sewing yesterday, did a little food hunting, visited a quilt shop, and went to the movies with Mr Karate.
(Mom says Toy Story 3 is -awesome-; that watching the "Spanish" Buzz Lightyear alone is worth the price of admission, but the movie is not for kids under 4.)
They went out to dinner afterward, ate steak, bacon-wrapped scallops and ribs, did some clothes hunting for Mr Karate, and kitchen-gizmo hunting for Mom.
Mom says that was an awesome start to her stay-cation vacation.
So what's the plan for today? Well, after the obligatory change-the-sheets and empty-the- dishwasher and wash-another-couple-of-windows, it's go see Mr Karate & PlusOne play in their recital, and more sewing and more golf-on-the-rocks.
You can find me in the cat hammock.

Family Friday: PlusOne Bakes!

His Mom and Dad (Auntie Karate & Mr Big) came to pick him up, and before they left, half the brownies were gone. They took the brownies and the cake with them.
I have it on good authority there was nothing left by the time they all went to bed last night.
...I'm betting Roxy didn't get any.

Here's the view outside the window this morning, March 3, 2009. Lots of snow. Yech. We got about 12" yesterday.
