Thursday Things

We all know I rock the whole Tuxedo (black and white) thing. But I think I rock the red and white thing pretty well too!

So how much snow did we get? A whole lot. Maybe 18" or so (41cm). Mom says it will melt quick, but I think she's hoping. It's a lot colder than it usually is in March.

Snowstorm Stella with Update 2

As everybody on the planet knows, we are having a big snowstorm called "Stella." It is a nor'easter, and could be a blizzard. Both are very specific things, and you can look them up. (I've even given you the links.)
this is out the front window at 8 AM Tuesday
We are supposed to have between 18-24" of snow. That's 45 -61 cm for my Aussie and Kiwi pals. Mom has stayed home, because driving will be dangerous. It wasn't snowing when Mom got up to look at 5 AM, but these two photos were taken just after 8 AM, and you can see it has barely started. (Mom went back to bed.) I'll post updates throughout the day. See you later!

this is the view out back at 8 AM Tuesday

Update from 10:20 AM
This photo was taken about 10:20 AM Tuesday.

This is the view out back around 10:20 AM Tuesday. It isn't snowing all that hard yet.
Update 2 at 1:25 PM
It's really snowing hard now, and the wind is picking up.

The view out back.

Millie Monday

It's Monday.

It was WARM in California. I am not sure why we came back to chilly New Hampster. We are supposed to have a nor'easter tomorrow into Wednesday leaving a ton of snow. Bleh.

AND I hacked up a ginormous hairball last night and I feel miserable. I have been napping near Mom so I can get as many scritches as I can.

Is it Spring yet?

Family Sunday

Mr Karate, Rubylocks and Little Miss went to the Botanical Gardens yesterday.

This is what it looked like out back on Friday morning. We got about three inches more snow yesterday. Today we are supposed to get another 3-5 inches and overnight, another 8 to 12 inches. We might have another 1-3 inches Monday. (Did you add that up? It means 12 - 20 inches before the end of the day on Monday. Add that on top of the 17" we already have. And we are supposed to get more on Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Mom did the groceries on Friday night, but decided she wanted to cook some lamb shanks today, so she ran to the store just before dinner yesterday. It was a madhouse. The place was jammed and there were long lines at the cash registers. This is because everybody and their brother was there because they wanted to stay inside during the snow on Sunday.

Have I mentioned lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Disbelief

I knew it.

I knew it couldn't last.

As soon as Mom heard she was going to be a Mim-may she's been plotting.

Another M-word implementation is coming.

And seriously, you have to ask where?

Catifornia, of course.

We're supposed to have up to five inches of snow this weekend.

Any questions?

We're supposed to have more snow today and tonight.

That's February for you.

Terrible Thursday

This is what it looked like when Mom got home from day hunting last night. The weather guys say we are supposed to get as much as 1 - 3 inches overnight. We'll see what it looks like in the morning, but Mom has already said a lot of the werds on the bad werds list. She put her snow shovels and windshield scrapers and brushes in the shed the day before yesterday.  She had to get them all out again!

Mother Nature sure does have a funny sense of humor.

This is what it looks like outside this morning. Thank Bast we didn't get three inches. I think Mom might have exploded or something.

Mom's not too worried though. This is the weather report for the next few days. (Notice how the temperature never gets below freezing for any of these days.) Mom says it will melt, and it will melt in April. Mom has NEVER seen any snow on the ground in this area in May. In the mountains, maybe, but not here, in Southern New Hampster.

Of course, she's never seen a purple cow either.

Still. More. Snow.

This was the view outside our front windows this morning as the sun was coming up.  Four inches (10cm) of the fluffy white stuff fell again last night.  How much snow is there? Too darn much, according to Mom.  Can Spring really be thirty days away?

The good news is the When When Contest will start on Sunday March 1.  Stay tuned, kits and cats!

Snowed In Sunday

 I've had it.

This is looking out the kitchen window.  (Yes, I know the pile is bigger because the snow was pushed off the roof, but still.) The indoor/outdoor thermometer is buried in the snow, and is registering a "toasty" 27.5 degrees F, but Mom says it's really 17F outside.

The snow is so deep, it covers the bushes outside the front window.

We don't have a carport, we have a car tunnel.

I surrender.

When will the snow STOP?

Formerly Feral Friday

With all the snow on the ground, and the temp outside of 4F (feels like -13 (-25C) with the wind), I cannot tell you how happy I am to be formerly feral. I am so glad I have a nice warm home with a loving Mom who spoils me with love.

You probably won't be surprised to hear that we are supposed to have MORE SNOW on Saturday night. That's one of the few times I am glad I don't have opposable thumbs, because I'd be asked to help shovel the stuff.

Got Snow.

We have lots of snow.

lots and LOTS of snow.

We have icicles too.

The snow is so high, it reaches the bottom of the kitchen window.

Yeah, it's pretty and all that stuff, but Mom and everybody else in New Hampster is totally over it. We'll give it away to anybody who wants it.

Slow, then Snow, Saturday

Mom got up this morning, fed me my stinky goodness and crunchies and then opened the door to the Sewing Studio. I went right out there to check out my domain.

Mom went into the kitchen and started cooking some gar-ban-zo beans. Then she made some corn bread and stuck that in the oven. While that was smelling up the house she made two loaves of her English Muffin Bread. Then she went food hunting.

When she came back, she was in a hurry, so I knew she was going to go right back out again.  She put the foods away and then took Mim-may to the quilt shop in Henniker where she brought one quilt for them to hang on display, and took another one home. She brought Mim-may to buy a few groceries and then they got the metal masheen washed.

While she did that, I did this.

Back at home Mom made some granola and is finishing cooking the gar-ban-zo beans. I am still doing this.

We are expecting more of the white stuff, so neither of us will be doing much.
We have now had as much snow as we usually have ALL WINTER LONG.  Mom says winter isn't even halfway over.

Sheesh.

More Snow and a Thursday Surprise

Yup, it is snowing again.

And I am at the very top of my kitty condo (where Mom has never seen me before) watching the snow fall.

See?

Tuxie Tuesday

If anybody was wondering IF we would have a When When Contest this year, these photos should allay your fears.

This is Mom's metal masheen under the carport. You can see the snow all around it. The snowblower lady cleared the snow off the carport roof, so there isn't as much snow up there.

Our new house has something called "Central Air." Mom says that means the house won't get hot in the summer.  The central air monster lives outside, and here it is covered in snow.

This is what it looked like yesterday afternoon after Mom got home early from day hunting. It wasn't done snowing, but Mom decided to act like a cat and take a nap and when she woke up it was too dark for pictures.

Except for one of me.

More Damn Snow!!!

LOOKIT!!!  MORE DAMN SNOW!

Mom got sent home from her day hunting gig after lunch, and she said it was terrible driving. She said it was almost "whiteout" conditions. She took this picture about 2:15 PM today, our time. We are supposed to get MORE of the stuff during the night.

Where am I, you ask?

Napping under a quilt.

I'm no dummy.

Too Much Thursday

How much snow did we get yesterday?

Too damn much. Mon thinks we got a foot or so.

Mom cleaned the bookcases in three rooms and emptied out practically every drawer in the house. She found pens, pencils and highlighters in every single room. Now they are in one place.

Mom was a raving maniac, and I stayed out of the way and napped.

Brrr...

Don't let this lovely snowy scene fool you.

Check out the thermometer that's outside our house.

While this is certainly COLD, combined with the wind, the "wind chill factor" makes it more like -14F (-25C).  Lookit what the weather guys say the temperatures are around different places in New Hampster:

and here is the "wind chill"

In weather like this it's best to be an inside cat.

Oh No, More Snow!

While I did this yesterday,

Mom took down all the Christy-mas decorations and put the Santa away.

all the decorations are in these four boxes which Mom brought down to the dungeon.

but that's not the biggest news. We're supposed to have a big, long snowstorm starting early Thursday morning and ending Friday afternoon. On Wednesday night schools in Mass and some in New Hampster have already cancelled classes for both Thursday AND Friday.

Mom has already decided to ask for a vacation day on Friday.

What can I say? It's winter in New Hampster.

First Day of Spring

It's the first day of Spring. Can you tell? (snicker) We got 10 inches of the stuff (25.4 cm).

Yuk.

Truthful Thursday

Napping is a good thing to do.

Mom bought herself a new crooked pot. Not just any crooked pot. She bought herself the Cadillac of Crooked Pots.

She has filled it full of tomato stuff and lots of PORK! (Not beef!)

Because there is more snow coming.

(Sigh.)
