I am sorry, Little Bear, Karen, but there is still snow outside. You two will not win the When When Contest. Mom and I appreciate your positive attitude though!
This was a busy weekend for Mom. She got some cleaning and some errands done. She had to drive to her day hunting gig yesterday and give the boot to a couple of stupid servants who fell asleep. She didn't have time to drag out the rug sucking monster.
Lucky me! I spent most of the day in my heated cat cup, napping. Whenever Mom tried to take a picture, I buried my head under my paws so she couldn't see me. I'll probably be doing the same today when I'm not watching the magic sliding masheens.

When When Entries
OK Everybody! Mom -hopes- The List is correct now. Mom is very sorry she made so many mistakes. Please check to see that your name is there, and it has the correct date. If your name is missing, please let me know ASAP (and tell me the date.. please!)
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thursday Thing
It still looks cold out there, but the temperature is supposed to get above freezing today, and some stuff should melt. We are supposed to have rain and snow tomorrow. It will be interesting.
Do you know that to take the picture every day Mom actually OPENS the window! Yup! All that cold air blows in. Mom says it smells good. She's right!
We have added the list of all When When guesses in the sidebar, so you can all follow along! It's going to be fun!
Mom has decided she has to clean up her sewing studio. She had fabrics stacked up everywhere, and no room to work, so last night she started cleaning it up. As you can see, I was snoopervising.

Monday, Monday
Mom says this is a great way to start the work week. I do not know what she means. Every Monday is a start to the work week. There is a little bit of snow on the ground though, and that must be what she is grumbling about. Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?
Yesterday Mom and Rhette went to see The King's Speech, which she said was awesome. Then she and Rhette and Mim-may went out for sushi. That's good for them. I do not like fish.
Go figure.

Saturday Caturday
Here's what it looked like outside this morning. It was really warm yesterday, and a lot of snow melted. You can look at the rooftops (hardly any snow left) and the height of the snowbanks to really notice the difference.
Mom will be making the big list of all entries later today or tomorrow. I shall be quilt inspecting.

Finally Friday
Good morning everycat! This is the view outside the window today. It was warm and sunny yesterday and a lot of the snow melted! Today is the last day for entries to the When When Contest. Add your guess to the comments of THIS POST!
As for me, well, I'm still the subject of Mom's experimentations with new little camera.

Thinking Thursday
Hello, everycat! This is the view outside the window today. You can still enter the When When Contest. Add your guess to the comments of THIS POST.
Mom got her colors quilt back from the quilter yesterday, and her friend Julie (the same friend Hugo is visiting now) sent me a little quilt of my own. That's it, down there on the floor with the flower.
Heh.

When When Contest 2011
The big question is.... "When will the snow MELT?" That's what I want to know.
When will it be ALL GONE?
Would you like to guess? I am having a contest. The cat, woofie or bun who guesses the date when there is NO MORE SNOW when Mom looks out this window will get a prize. The prize will be treats, and bragging rights! (Occasionally evil little chocolates have been known to appear in prize packages, but Mom is making no promises.)
Every morning Mom will get up and take a picture of this same view and post it on my blog. On the day she wakes up and THERE IS NO SNOW ANYWHERE IN THE PICTURE will be THE DAY. If you guess the EXACT day, you will get a prize. If NOBODY guesses the EXACT DAY, the cat who guessed the day CLOSEST TO the day, but not AFTER the day, will get the prize.
Here are the rules:
1. Each cat, woofie or bun gets ONE GUESS EACH.
2. Guesses must be in the comments of THIS POST.
3. Deadline is Midnight Friday February 18, 2011. (So when it isn't Friday anywhere in the world, the voting will be over.)
4. You have to have a blog, or leave some way for us to get in touch with you, so we have to know who you are. If you have a blog, you're good to go.
5. You can enter no matter where you live. Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada... all are welcome to enter.
6. It's my blog, so if I wanna change the rules, I can.
Now for some useful information.
1. The houses across the street face East. So the snow in their front yards will melt first. Duh.
2. Sun melts the snow.
3. Rain melts it faster.
4. The average high temperature for March in New Hampster is 44F
5. The average low temperature for March in New Hampster is 18F
6. Winter isn't over, either. We have had big snowstorms at the end of February, and in March. It snows in April, too. So, guess accordingly.
7. *****The contest ends when there is NO SNOW on the ground in the picture. If it snows the next day, oh well, that's New England weather for you!*****
8. In 2008, the winning date was April 12. In 2009, the winning date was April 3rd. In 2010 the snow was gone by the middle of March.
9. We have A LOT more snow on the ground now than we did in 2008, 2009 or 2010, so this year the contest is starting in February.
10. When the contest is closed, Mom will post a big list of all the entries and dates in my sidebar, so everybody will know who guessed what date. It is your responsibility to check that your name is there, and that your guess is correct. It's usually a big list, and adding the names gets complicated, so if your name is missing, let me know right away. No names will be added to the list after February 25.
So put on your thinking caps, leave a guesstimate, and check back every day to see if you are the winner!
Good luck!

When, When is Coming!
It is almost time for the When When Contest! For those who do not know, the When When Contest is an annual contest I sponsor. All you have to do to win is guess when ALL THE SNOW outside is GONE! (this picture was taken on Friday with Mom's new camera. )
The details will be posted on Tuesday February 15, 2011, so check back then. (The contest is open to cats, woofies, or buns from all over the world.) If you think it doesn't look like much snow... check out the sidewalk in front of our house.

Snappy Saturday
I really should call this "Satisfying the Paparazzi Saturday" as Mom has been giving her new little camera a workout by taking hundreds of pictures of me.
Oh well! Mom's got a gazillion errands to run today, and I'll have a good part of the day to hang out with Hugo and nap in peace. He's headed to Julie's on Monday.

Finally Friday!
Mom's had a busy week. Her new digital camera arrived yesterday. I am pleased to say that so far it doesn't flash in my face every time Mom uses it to take a picture of me.Hugo is interested in everything. Here he is checking out the new little camera.
And lookit! He went to the Evil Little Chocolate shop*, and -gasp- they make Temptations for Beans! Hugo selected some special treats for Julie, his next hostess. But these, in the red ribbon... they are headed to my very special extended family in Mary-land. Along with some real Temp-tay-tions for that special man-cat in my life!
*By the way, Mom and I have decided to start the When When Contest early this year. It will be open on February 15. So get your thinking caps on and be sure to check back here February 15!

Millie and Hugo
Hugo's been fun to have around lately. We've been playing a lot. We've been having so much fun, I forgot my manners. When Hugo got here, he brought presents from TBT, Ayla, Iza and Marley. I forgot to say Thank You. I received some nifty nip-filled toys, a mouse that squeaks, some Temp-ta-tions treats and some stinky goodness! Woot! Thank you TBT, Ayla, Iza and Marley.
It's a good thing Hugo has been here this week, because Mom has worked late a couple of nights. Hugo has discovered Mom's Kindle, and has been reading while I have been napping. Hippos don't need as much nap time as cats do.Hugo's a great guy and all, but my heated cat cup is mine. Plus, my Sweetie is my ManCat friend Monty.
Hugo just loves his vegies, and he really likes broccoli. That's fine with me. He leaves my stinky goodness alone. Smart hippo!
We are getting Hugo's photo album ready, and Mom is planning a trip (with Hugo) to the Currier Museum of Art, to get a souvenir for Hugo's souvenir pouch. Mom and Hugo will also go shopping at the Evil Little Chocolate store this week to get presents for the next friends he visits. Hugo is going to Memphis Tennessee, to visit with Mom's friend Julie.

In the Kitchen with Hugo
Hugo here! Millie let me post again today.
Millie's Mom is such a good cook! I have been eating very well. Lots of nice fresh vegies for me every day. I am learning how to bake! Millie's Mom and I baked some Apricot Coconut Almond bars. Later, we made a chocolate cake! It's just my size!I think New Hampster must be close to Heaven.

Hugo in Snow!
Hugo here! Millie let me post today. I am -so- excited! I got to go outside and play in the snow! There is snow everywhere!
Snow covers everything! I am on a mountain of snow!Millie said sliding on the snow is fun, so I thought I would give it a try...
Oops! Snow is slippery stuff!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That was FUN! I'm gonna try again!
Getting back up the hill takes effort. I am glad I am in good shape.
Look at me! I know this spot! Woo hoo! I love snow! I am having a great time here in New Hampster!

Super Sunday Spread
Even though my pals, the guys named Pat. weren't playing in the Super Bowl, Mom, Hugo and I watched the game last night. Mom likes to cook something special for the Super Bowl every year. This year she made some spicy chicken wings. She also had hoomus, and some yukky green stuff. Hugo liked the green stuff and the carrots, peppers and zucchini. I had Beef!
Then we watched the game. Hugo loves the big flat tv.

Easy Like Sunday Morning
Mom cleaned the house yesterday. She washed all the dishes, and cleaned off the tables, threw some junk away, changed the sheets and everything. She dragged the rug sucking monster around, too. Hugo and I stayed out of her way. We talked about our blogging friends and all the places we have visited.Later, Hugo helped Mom place her seed order for the garden this summer. Hugo is a vegetarian, so he knows a lot about that stuff.Hugo's having a good time here.

Hugo Arrives!
Hugo arrived from Mary-land yesterday. It was a long drive in Mr Brown's van, and he was happy to be here.Hugo is a sweet hippo. He is very polite and well mannered. But I still had to check him out.He was hungry. He had some salad for dinner.
Afterwards, he chatted with Mom while she was sewing.
And then he told me about all his travels.
He's a small hippo, and I have to get really close to hear what he has to say.
Mom set up a nice little sleeping bag for Hugo. He has a big day tomorrow. He is quite eager to investigate all the snow outside!
