Finally Friday!

Mom is spending the day with me today. She will be hunting the ever-elusive Month End after dinner, or maybe tomorrow.
She got home from day hunting early yesterday, and took some pictures of the trees in the neighborhood. You can compare them to the pictures in this post, and this one from a week ago.

Here is our Japanese Maple this morning:

This tree was brilliant red a week ago. It's losing its leaves rapidly now.
These are the Maple trees across the street, near our Japanese Maple (which is on the right.)

Here are other trees in the neighborhood. This naked tree had the bright red leaves in this post, almost three weeks ago. The yellow tree on the right just looks yellow, but Mom says it is much prettier in real life. The sun was shining on the tree, and through the leaves, and it gave off a beautiful golden glow.

Thursday Three

Yesterday it rained hard all day. Yuk! Here is our Japanese Maple this morning. You can see that many of its leaves are a lighter red earlier in the month. But take a closer look...
It is starting to lose leafs! You can click the pictures to biggify.
Mom needs help in the morning. This next picture just proves it.Until she's fully awake, she can't even hold the camera steady to get a picture of me that's in focus!

Sheesh!

Wordy Wednesday

Hi everybody! Here's our Japanese Maple, still looking good; still with all its leaves. But check this out, the house down the street a bit...
We haven't even had the turkey yet!

I have been asked by Suddie, a Tibetan Terrier, to let everybody know about her blog. She has got one of the cutest header pictures I have ever seen. She's a woofie, but she's a tuxie, and that's OK in my book. Go on over and visit. She's just started blogging, so she doesn't have many comments or followers.

I am on the Map! Literally! Check out this post from Freya, and add yourself to the Cat Blogger's map!

Actually, I am at home, helping Mom get ready for the day ahead.
She might be running a bit late.

Tuxie Tuesday

It's really foggy outside today, but here's the obligatory shot of the Japanese Maple tree across the street. Mom assures me its leaves -are- changing colors, if only slightly.
Since looking at that tree is kinda boring, here's a shot of me.
Tuxie, tummy, toesies, Tuesday!

Monday

Here's the tree outside. Its leaves are getting lighter. The sun comes up later and later each day, making it hard for Mom to take pictures of it for the blog. It will be easier next week.
This, obviously, is not a tree. It is my new sweetie pie, my Fairy Oddkid. (It's Monty's NewBean.) He's lying on the quilt Mom made for him.You can tell he doesn't like the flashy thing any more than I do. He looks like he's about to make a lot of noise.Mom's still trying to get a picture of my 'tocks.

You can see how that's working.

Heh.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

This is my 1,295th post! Five more and I'll hit 1,300! Wow!

It rained hard all day yesterday. It was very dreary. This morning, the sun is out, the sky is blue, and there isn't a cloud in the sky.

Mom has (finally) added a list of all the entries for the Last Leaf Falls Contest on the sidebar. Please look it over, and if your name is not there, or if something about your entry is wrong, please let me know.I am very blue today though, and I don't feel like doing much. Two of my oldest and best friends, Beezer and Kimiko, went to the Bridge last night.

Please stop by and leave some hugs and purrs for them.

Rainy Saturday

Hi! It's raining today. It looks like our tree is finally starting to change colors.Mom and I both got packages from the man in the bloo shorts. Mine was from my friends Isis, Summer, Babe, Jeannie, Bob & Romeo from Florida. It's a giant 'Nip-stuffed Candy Corn Toy! Woo hoo!Mom got a squillion zippers.I still think she's crazy.

Friday Foliage

It's sunny today! Here are the trees across the street. They look nice, right? Then Mom turned and looked in another direction and saw this:

Then the sun hit it.Mom says she tries to find beauty every day, and enjoy it. She's trying to take a picture of my 'tocks, but that's not working out so good!

Thursday Trees

Several of you have commented that this tree doesn't seem to have lost any leafs yet. Mom can't get over it either. So she took a few more pictures this morning. It was raining overnight, and was still cloudy. The weatherguys say it is supposed be sunny and warm later today, but now it's just grey. Mom says it is a good time to see the real colors.

This maple tree in the neighbor's yard has lost most of its leaves, but as you can see, there is a big tree nearby (actually in our yard) that is still green. Mom says this tree turns yellow, usually in November.
The tree that had such nice pretty red leaves on this day, has lost most of them, as you can see, but there are other trees in the neighborhood that are still green and leafy.
Here, you can see some rhodies on the other side of the fence on the left, and a "burning bush" that is turning red. The tall trees in the middle are red maples. Here are some other trees in the area, all at different stages of color. Lots of them still have lots of leaves too.
Which brings us back to our tree across the street. As you can see, there are trees with lots of leaves, still green all around it.

Mom actually called Auntie Karate yesterday, asking if most trees were naked by December (except for the stupid oak trees). Auntie said yes, they were.

If you want to know more about the leaves changing colors, you can check this out.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Milo and Alfie, you guys are entered in the Last Leaf Contest. Do not worry. Mom will be putting a list of everybody's names and dates in the sidebar.
I'm really trying to get her to do it sooner, but she's just a silly bean and doesn't seem to understand.

Most beans understand fun, so when Mom found this link, she thought it was just awesome. You should visit and watch these videos to see if "fun" can change people's behaviors. It's called "The Fun Theory."

Hmm....

Tattle Tale Tuxie Tuesday

You all know how much I love 'Nip. Last night, Mom was refilling my favorite mink mousie, and I got a little carried away...
Oh yeah, it was good. Here are the trees today. Not much change on the Japanese Maple, but that other maple in the background is turning orange nicely. Dunno if it will turn bright Red though. Some years it does, some years it doesn't. It depends on the weather.Mom has to wait until the sun comes up so she can take a picture, and it doesn't come up until after 7 o'clock local time. This is why my posts are kinda late.

Millie Monday

As you can see, from this picture taken of the Japanese Maple this morning, we do not have snow. It did not snow here yesterday. And the leaves haven't fallen off the trees. It did snow during the game my pals, the guys named Pat played against the Titans yesterday. The guys named Pat love to play in the snow at Razor Field. I do not think the Titans had any fun. Next week, the guys named Pat are playing in London, at Wembley Stadium. Apparently the tickets sold out in six minutes.
I'm doing my usual, napping whenever I find a good spot, and doing the QA checks on the stuff Mom makes. Mom made a Gizzy quilt that will be flying across the ocean to the UK, bought some fabric at her favorite quilt shop and spent a lot of time cuddling with me.

So-So Sunday

It's raining and it's colder than normal. Here's the tree across the street. This picture was taken on this morning.I keep finding new places to nap. Yes, this is a garbage bag. Mom has been putting paper in the shredder, and when the shredder is full, she empties it into a black garbage bag. She has to shred a lot of stuff to fill the bag though. She was doing some shredding, but the shredder got a red light and she had to stop for a while. She went away and did something else. When she came back, she found me napping on the trash bag.

She thought it was very funny.

Dunno why.

Saturday Caturday

It looks nice outside, but it's very cold for this time of the year. I am in a nice warm spot, and I'll be napping all day. Here's the red tree across the street, in a picture taken this morning. Mom has a correction about the red tree across the street. She says it is a Japanese Maple.

Today is the last day to enter the Last Leaf Falls Contest. You have to put your guess in the comments of this post. Good luck!

Finally Friday!

HI everybody! Here's the tree across the street. As you can see, it still has all its leaves. You should check out yesterday's post, so you can enter the Last Leaf Contest.

I have a favor to ask of you all. A couple of favors.

First, my pal Beezer is very sick with the dreaded c-word. He may be going to the Bridge soon. Drop by his blog and leave some love and purrs. His Mom has had a rough year, and they could both user our purrs and prayers.

Secondly, Mr Tigger is still AWOL. We need to keep sending him vibes to go home. He's been Out now for a couple of weeks, and I'll bet he's one freaked out cat. I sure do hope he gets home safely, and soon.

Lastly, it's Monty Q's DadBean's birthday today. Pop on over and leave some purrs.

Thanks!

When the Last Leaf Falls Contest!!

Here are the trees outside. This was yesterday morning. It's been colder than usual, and will continue to be cold for the rest of the week. I've been making sure I get lots of cuddling by sitting next to Mom in the recliner.

Kept her out of the sewing room I have!

Heh!

Update: Milo and Alfie think we should have a contest, "When the Leafs Drop Off The Tree" Contest. I'm game.

Here goes. You enter the date you think there will be no more leaves on the red tree across the street. (It's a variety of Red Maple if anybody is interested.) The red leaves here are its normal color. It usually turns BRIGHT red in autumn. This tree hasn't done that yet.

Enter your guess in the comments of TODAY's post! Comments will be accepted until the end of the day, Saturday October 17.

Every day I will post a picture of the trees across the street. On the day where the red maple has NO LEAVES on any branch of the tree, that will be THE DAY, and the cats/woofies/buns who have selected that day will be the winner.

The prize will be treats of some kind. You can expect Temptations if you are a Cat, and some woofie snack if you are a woofie. If you are a bun, I will find treats for you too. (If anybody would like to donate prizes, let me know.)

So you can probably tell that you have to be a Cat, Woofie, or Bun to enter. (Hey, it's my blog and I make the rules.)

We are just coming into "Peak Foliage Season" in our part of New Hampster. The leaves will turn colors before they fall off the tree. Wind and rain knock the leaves down faster. We are supposed to have a lot of both in the next couple of days.

The leaves will be off the trees by December for sure. Don't guess any dates in December (unless you want to lose.) They'll be off sooner than that, but I'm not giving you any more hints, either.

Good luck!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Here are the trees yesterday morning before Mom went day hunting. It was raining.
These are the trees when she got home from day hunting. It had stopped raining and the sun was out a bit.Me, I'm just watching.
