Thursday Trees

Several of you have commented that this tree doesn't seem to have lost any leafs yet. Mom can't get over it either. So she took a few more pictures this morning. It was raining overnight, and was still cloudy. The weatherguys say it is supposed be sunny and warm later today, but now it's just grey. Mom says it is a good time to see the real colors.

This maple tree in the neighbor's yard has lost most of its leaves, but as you can see, there is a big tree nearby (actually in our yard) that is still green. Mom says this tree turns yellow, usually in November.
The tree that had such nice pretty red leaves on this day, has lost most of them, as you can see, but there are other trees in the neighborhood that are still green and leafy.
Here, you can see some rhodies on the other side of the fence on the left, and a "burning bush" that is turning red. The tall trees in the middle are red maples. Here are some other trees in the area, all at different stages of color. Lots of them still have lots of leaves too.
Which brings us back to our tree across the street. As you can see, there are trees with lots of leaves, still green all around it.

Mom actually called Auntie Karate yesterday, asking if most trees were naked by December (except for the stupid oak trees). Auntie said yes, they were.

If you want to know more about the leaves changing colors, you can check this out.

Nice pictures. It's nice to see other places trees progress. We have 2 maples in our front yard, 1 with leaves 1 without.

Beech trees can be pretty stubborn too. We've got only a smattering of leaves left clinging on after last night's rain up here in Central Maine.

Very nice fall photos!

My OTW is SOOOO jealous. We just get yellow leaves, cause all we have are birches and pines this far north. And they all blow off the trees in a week.

We got the package!!! The Big One brought it home from where the Man in the Blue Shorts and his dogsled drops it off on Monday (though it could have been there since Thursday or Friday)

We've posted pictures on our blog! The OTW says she'll post a few on the Bizzy for Gizzy blog tomorrow. Well, today, since it's already 8:30am, but she's going to bed.

THANK YOU!!! I love it!!!

HI MILLIE!!!!

Ooo! You have pretty leaves! I love pouncing them when mommy brings them in!

Thank you for the Gizzy Quilt! I'm going to make Jack share!

PS. Jack calls her the Opposable Thumb Wench 'cause he thinks he's Boss Cat of the house and all the humans, but I call her mommy 'cause I know even Queens of the Universe like me need mommies!

Natures colors are just so beautiful. It's a pretty sight to see the leaves turning to red and gold.

why is it we don't notice the beauty around us until it's framed in a tiny window?

Ooh -we like Mr. Karate's comment. We don't get changing colors here - it's too warm. Mom says she misses it.
