It was 55F (12.7C) when we got up this morning, so Mom didn't open the porch door all the way, but she was nice enough to make sure I could go out there and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells.
Mom is reading The Martian so she hasn't been doing much of anything else, including helping me with my blog. It seems to me that my needs and desires are significantly more important than whether or not a fictional astronaut gets off Mars alive, but with Mom's nose deep in the book, it's sometimes hard to tell.

Hey Mom,
The printing on some of these buttons is wearing off.
What do you mean, you want it now? Can't you see I'm READING here?
Go teach your class.

Almost Wordless Wednesday
Mom has her nose in a book and I don't think she'll pull it out until she is finished reading it. It is a 650 page monster by Elizabeth George. Mom's not too particularly impressed with it, but she is sticking with it because she wants to see how all the pieces fit together at the end.
Which is why you are looking at a picture of Yoda, and not me.

Tattle Tale Tuesday
Mom had such a busy weekend, that she came home after day hunting, made us both dinner, then sat down on the couch and read a book.
I don't mean she picked up a book she had started already. She picked up a ***NEW*** book and read it from start to finish.
I think that makes her SuperMom. Which isn't a surprise to me because I already knew that.
But still.
***which book, you ask? This one.

Happy Easter
Mom's back and hip were hurting her a lot last night. I lay next to her and purred until she went to sleep. I am glad to help her feel better.
Later today, I'll be able to nap in her lap while she reads her new book. Yes, go figure, but there are some books Mom likes to have as real books, not eBooks on her Kindle.
Happy Easter everybuddy!

Words Only Wednesday
Mom came home from her day hunting gig yesterday, gave me my stinky goodness and then lay down on the couch to read about the hornets-nest-kicking-girl. When I was done my dinner, and after my bath, I curled up next to Mom on the couch and got lots of scritches.
Life is good.

Whodunit?
HONESTLY! She did it again!
Mom read an ENTIRE BOOK on her Kindle in ONE day!
She claims the book just "appeared" on her Kindle, poof! Just like that! (How gullible does she think I am, anyway?)
She picked it up, made herself comfortable on the couch and started reading.
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TENNIS MATCH!
She finished it a few hours later.

Wordy Wednesday - Thursday Edition
It's not my fault.
Mom's in love with words. In fact, she's addicted.
Did you know that? Mom loves words. She hunts them down. She likes new ones, she likes old ones. She likes knowing how to spell them all correctly. She likes word puzzles. But most of all she likes to follow them.
Mom loves to read.
You know Mom's got a Kindle. Over the last two or three weeks she has been hooked on the thing, reading as she eats breakfast, reading at lunch, reading as she eats her dinner. She's been reading as she pets me, and has been reading until past her bedtime. She even wakes up in the middle of the night and reads.
There's this guy, Inspector Gamache, in the books she is reading now. Mom's reading the sixth one. She finished the fifth one yesterday, and already she is 3/4 finished the sixth one. After this, there is one more, then she will have to wait for Inspector Gamache's creator, Louise Penny, to write some more.
In the meantime the house goes to pot. Mom doesn't make her bed in the morning (not that I'm complaining. It's a great place to nap.) She goes day hunting, and when she gets home, she feeds me, then sits down to read. After a while she makes her dinner, and eats it (while reading.) She puts the dirty dishes on the counter, and then goes back to reading. She hasn't done any sewing, and as you all know, she hasn't helped me with my blog posts lately.
Mom will run out of words about Inspector Gamache in a few days. The US Open tennis tournament will start next week, and then it will be All Tennis, All The Time. I'm getting my stinky goodness, my treats, and my scritches, so don't worry about me.
I'm just happy that Kindle isn't like the linking books in Myst and Riven.
**Update: Mom finished her book, and the newest one won't come out until next week, so it looks like I have my Mom to myself for a few days!
Go on over to Roxy's and wish Auntie Karate a Happy Birthday.

Finally Friday
Mom hasn't done anything all week. Usually she makes quilts at night, but this week she balanced books, did all the dishes and sat around reading*.
I'm not complaining. I've been sitting next to her most nights and getting plenty of scritches, but I run whenever she brings out the little camera, so no pictures.
Oh well!
*What's Mom been reading? The Gardner Heist, The Help, The Disappearing Spoon, Gunn's Golden Rules.
The When When Contest officially over!
Gracie, Emily & tt, there is no snow in the back yard, so you have won consolation prizes. Please send your favorite flavor of Temptations and your snail mail addresses to me at darlingmillie AT gmail DOT com. (You know how to put them together.) Mom will be putting together the prize packages this weekend, and hopes to mail them next week!
Thanks for playing this year!

Easy Like Sunday
Remember I told you about Homer? Well, Mr Karate got Mom his book (Homer's Odyssey) for Christymas, and we have been reading it together.Hey Mom! Get back here! We're not done reading yet!
(honestly!)

Mom Does it Again
I can't believe it! Mom did it again! She read an entire book again last night. And when she finished she had to go right to bed, so I don't have a Thursday Thirteen... I didn't sit with her this time. Although I have been sleeping on her bed with her a little bit in the middle of the night. Sometimes she knows I am there and gives me scritches. But I don't stay there all night. I like my independence.
She's crazy bizzy at her day hunting gig. The new servant and wall of fire are being delivered on Friday, and she will probably have to work on Saturday too. Her servant must be really stupid. She jokes that he doesn't know jack. I do not know what this means and she will not tell me. I think it is proof that she is crazy.
Several of you have asked what books she has been reading. No, they are not long or complicated. The first one was Julie and Romeo and the second one was Julie and Romeo Get Lucky. And no, they didn't get Lucky.
And no, I don't get that either.
Once again, I sure am glad I am a cat.

Family Friday
I have been asked to show another picture of Mr Karate. Here he is, reading Harry Potter. (He finished the book last night.) Remember I told you Mom is an Artist? Well, see the bookmark just below his hands -- it's a picture of a little boy reading a book? Well it is a picture of a drawing Mom did of Mr Karate when he was about 12, reading.Yes, Mom painted the dry sink those wild colors.
