Wordy Wednesday

We only got a "dusting" of snow last night, and not the three to six inches the weather guys were expecting. But we do have the cold. It is 3F (-16C) outside now. I will be spending a lot of time in my heated cat cup.

The tennis in Oz has been good. The late matches are still going on when Mom gets up in the morning, so she was able to watch Stan-the-man beat Djokovic yesterday and this morning we watched Roger Federer win against Andy Murray.

Last night we watched the first Sherlock. Oh boy, Mom loves him big time. Watson too.

Mom's slowly getting the house back to "normal" (that means clean) now that she has finished her funny chicken quilt. She actually folded and put away the laundry that had been sitting out for two weeks. She did all the dishes in the kitchen and cleared off a lot of junk on the dining room table. She paid all the Mr Bills and the worktables in her studio and clean and neat. There is a gigantic stack of paper in the "office" she has to work her way through.

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Wordy Wednesday!

Lookit! My friend Miles is visiting (or as he says, "bisiting.")

Miles Meezer is one of my oldest and dearest furriends. He has been traveling all over by riding with the man in the bloo shorts's truck.  Here we are talking about old times, like the Road Trip for Romance way way back in the fall of 2007!

Miles is enjoying seeing all the quilts around here, and he is helping me fur them all up.

Words Only Wednesday

I know I've been bugging Mom to take more pictures but yesterday she took some pictures that you don't want to see.

Mom has a boo-boo on her eyeball and it's red. She's got pictures of it, but they'd freak you out, so you are going to have to use your imaginations.  Mom called the eye-vet and they told her it was likely a burst blood vessel and she'd just have to wait it out. The nurse said it would take about a week to go away, and that it was just like a bruise and that it would change colors and get really ugly looking.

Mom says it doesn't affect her vision, and it doesn't hurt. If either of those things happens, she has to go see the eye-vet. Mom has some eyedrops to keep it "lubricated." I don't know what that means, but I think it means slippery.

This red-eye thing means Mom may not be able to look at any of her computers for long periods of time, so she's going to be chillaxing when she's home, and I will be able to sit beside her and get scritches.

Heh.

Ducky, Mr Karate and La Girlfriend are in Los Angeles. They visited Hawaii for the Turkey-Day holiday.

Words Only Wednesday

Mom came home from her day hunting gig yesterday, gave me my stinky goodness and then lay down on the couch to read about the hornets-nest-kicking-girl.  When I was done my dinner, and after my bath, I curled up next to Mom on the couch and got lots of scritches.

Life is good.

Wordy Wednesday

I can still see dried leafs stuck to the tree across the street. ML & KC, dear friends, you are not the winners of the Last Leaf Falls Contest. I am really getting tired of this tree. I have decided that unless the leafs GO AWAY, we will only post pictures of the tree on December 3, 5, 7 & 16, the last dates chosen as possible Last Leaf Dates.

This is Mom and her friend, D. They have been email pals for about ten years; have spent the last couple of days together and had a blast. Yesterday they went for a walk at The Mall and then went to the store that sells the Evil Little Chocolates that DKM and others have raved about. They've been yakking about quilts and stuff. Having a grand time. Today Mom's going to show D & A her day hunting spots, and then they will be flying home to Catifornia.
Finally I can have my own Mom all to myself. Company is nice, but I like my regular routine.

Wordy Wednesday

Hi everybody! Here's our Japanese Maple, still looking good; still with all its leaves. But check this out, the house down the street a bit...
We haven't even had the turkey yet!

I have been asked by Suddie, a Tibetan Terrier, to let everybody know about her blog. She has got one of the cutest header pictures I have ever seen. She's a woofie, but she's a tuxie, and that's OK in my book. Go on over and visit. She's just started blogging, so she doesn't have many comments or followers.

I am on the Map! Literally! Check out this post from Freya, and add yourself to the Cat Blogger's map!

Actually, I am at home, helping Mom get ready for the day ahead.
She might be running a bit late.

Wordy Wednesday

It was a rough day yesterday. First I got shoved into the PTU, then brought to the v-e-t, and finally stabbed with a really big needle. I was Not Happy. In fact, I was a little bit hissy at Mom when we finally got home.
Can you blame me?

Of course, I was also Totally Freaked Out, and I needed to cuddle next to somecat. But there is no Other Cat, there is only Mom. So I sat in front of her and just kept meowing. Eventually she got the message and went to sit down in the recliner.

I was very fortunate that she was home on vacation. It was also a lucky thing that Mim-may came over and the three of us watched the new HBO adaptation of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. (If your bean moms haven't read the books, Mom heartily recommends them, and the first one is here, from Amazon.)

Yes, I admit it. I sat next to Mom for the entire afternoon, and right up until bedtime.

I'm feeling much better today, thank you.

Wordy Wednesday!

There is still a little bit of snow in the back yard. It is covered with dirt, and you can hardly see it, but it is there. The When When Contest for the consolation prize continues...
Honestly, Mom is always sticking the flashy box in my face.
I'm taking lessons in hypnotism from my friend Poppy Q. I'm trying to get Mom to give me stinky goodness for breakfast as well as dinner...

Wordy Wednesday!

Life here is getting back to normal!

Mom is making Gizzy Quilts again! Lookit this one, in nice chocolate browns, some gold and some dark reds.
And this one has dark purples, lavenders, creams and a touch of green. As usual, I can't tell you where these two are going, but they are going different places. In fact they are going to opposite sides of the US!

Mom's on a zipper kick, lately. Think she's got enough?
Probably not.

Wordy Wednesday

Obviously, I know how to live. I eat, wash, play and nap whenever I want. Mom decided to follow my lead today.

She slept late. She did the day hunting called "Year End Processing" the day before yesterday, getting home very very late - 10:30 PM. So she got to sleep in yesterday. And sleep she did. She didn't even get up before 8 AM.

She never got dressed.

She ate what she wanted, when she wanted. I think she even had tortilla chips and hot chocolate for breakfast. She ate the tortilla chips right out of the great big bag.

She watched the Roses parade. I don't know why they called it that, I didn't see any marching roses.

She didn't take the Christymas tree down, which is what she usually does on New Year's Day.

She ironed fabric and cut strips. She then paired up strips. Did she work on any of the quilts she has to make this month? Nope. She planned about a half dozen because she liked the colors she had and wanted to make them.

She said today was HER day and she wasn't gonna do anything she didn't want to do. Like the dishes. She left them dirty all over the place.

Mom said she didn't do anything because this is what it did all day yesterday:

It snowed -all day long- (Can it snow short?)

She did, however, do one constructive thing. She made ME a Gizzy quilt from the wonderful cat fabric that Kimo & Sabi sent her for Christymas.

Here is the front:
And here is the back:
She only used cat fabrics. She used some cat fabrics she already had, like the pink ones (in Lilly Lu's quilt) and some black and white cats from Beau's quilt.

You can click the pictures to biggify.

She says TODAY she has to go back to the straight and narrow.

Once again, I must say how glad I am to be a cat.

Wordy Wednesday

We will start with a little good news: Mom's polyp was benign! Whee! But since a genetic relative (who has not been mentioned in this blog before) already has colon cancer, Mom must be tested again with another C-test in "1 - 2 years." Phew!

Next, for some medium good news: The Christymas Tree in this house isn't naked anymore. Mom has been covering it in wires and lights. Looks pretty. Next, she will add the nice shiny balls and the gazillion ornaments. I can't wait to climb the tree again!

Now, some REALLY GOOD NEWS: The Police caught two of the "perps" that broke into Roxy & Lucky's house, and recovered a lot of stuff. Go to Roxy's blog and read all about it. How did the Men in Blue catch the bad guys? They had stolen a little box from the boy that he kept quarters in. They couldn't open it, so they threw it out of their car window as they drove down the street. A neighbor reported the "suspicious car" and gave the Police the car's license number. The Police said the things they had stolen were recovered from four different locations. It just goes to show, you see something funny, CALL THE COPS! YAY POLICE!

Merry Christymas Everybody!

Wordy Wednesday

Mom came home last night, made dinner, made suds in the sink, then sewed this Gizzy quilt together. This one is for a Tuxie cat like me!

Mom wanted to go to bed early last night, but Mr Karate called and asked to visit. Naturally Mom said, "Yes, come over!" Mr Karate made himself a parfait of ice cream, cookies and caramel sauce. Mom gave him some leftovers from her dinner he could have for lunch today and they talked geek. He will come over on Saturday and they will decorate the Christymas tree together. finally. That tree is weird naked.

So you know, it was pretty dull around here.

Mom's got the chocolate biscotti recipe up over at her cooking blog, Cooks With Love.

Wordy Wednesday

There will be no turkey here tomorrow. It will be at Mimmay and Pippay's. I will be spending the day by myself. Imagine!

It snowed here yesterday.

The Cat Blogosphere calendar arrived! Have you ordered yours yet? You know you're a real blogger when you can identify most of the cats in it!
