Snuggly Sunday

Mom has been bribing me with 'Nip to climb on the new cat tree.

I will do practically anything for 'Nip, as you can see.

However. Do you see me on that thing?
 You do not.

The snow is melting fast. It was 60F (15.5C) and sunny yesterday. Will there be any left when the sun comes up?

I do not know. We will see!

I'm sorry Ducky, but you are not the winner of the When When Contest.

Millie Monday

While Mom was cleaning, she found some home grown 'Nip, and it fell on the floor. I had myself a little 'Nip Fest!

W00t!

Saturday Caturday

Um, Mom... I think it's time to move my 'Nip plant to a more, shall we say -secure- place on the porch.

What's Up Wednesday?

Or maybe, what's down? Lookit where my 'Nip plant was this morning when Mom got up. She says it was the wind, but I am not sure I believe her.

Do Tigers like 'Nip? Watch this to find out:

The Fresh Stuff

You all know how much I love my 'Nip. Mom grows it for me. Yesterday she brought me the "trimmings" from my own 'Nip garden. You all know the dried stuff is good. The fresh stuff is pretty good too! Sometimes the littlest things can be the best!

****Four years ago today, I almost went to the Bridge. I got hitted by a car, and Malcolm rescued me. The rest, as they say, is history. You can read the story here, but be forewarned, it's long, so make yourself comfortable!

Rainy Saturday

Hi! It's raining today. It looks like our tree is finally starting to change colors.Mom and I both got packages from the man in the bloo shorts. Mine was from my friends Isis, Summer, Babe, Jeannie, Bob & Romeo from Florida. It's a giant 'Nip-stuffed Candy Corn Toy! Woo hoo!Mom got a squillion zippers.I still think she's crazy.

Tattle Tale Tuxie Tuesday

You all know how much I love 'Nip. Last night, Mom was refilling my favorite mink mousie, and I got a little carried away...
Oh yeah, it was good. Here are the trees today. Not much change on the Japanese Maple, but that other maple in the background is turning orange nicely. Dunno if it will turn bright Red though. Some years it does, some years it doesn't. It depends on the weather.Mom has to wait until the sun comes up so she can take a picture, and it doesn't come up until after 7 o'clock local time. This is why my posts are kinda late.

Friendly Friday

My friend Rusty sent me a package.

There's some boring stuff in it for Mom, (like fabric) but something caught my nose right away!
It's 'Nip!
A very special 'Nip toy in Tuxie colors! I have been sniffing it, rubbing up against it, and batting it all over the house!

Thanks Rusty!

It's Mim-may's birthday today! Happy Birthday Mim-may! (Maybe you could help me go over and give her some Happy Birthday wishes!)

Saturday Something

Mom got up this morning, ate breakfast, got dressed and went out stuff-hunting. She left earlier than when she goes day-hunting. I thought she was gonna sleep late because she is on vacation.

Just goes to show how weird beans are. She brought back this stuff. It's stuff to CLEAN the house? She's crazy. She's on vacation and she wants to clean.

Naturally I had to check it out.And she got some things she claims to be pots, but they look kinda flat to me. She is gonna plant her seeds in them. You all know how she is a Basil freak. She has some Catnip in there for me, but look....Lookit how many packages of seeds! Only ONE of them is 'Nip!

How unfair is that?

Thursday Three

There is still snow on the ground, so today isn't the day. We are supposed to have temps in the 50's F (10C) for the next few days, and the weather guys say we will have hard rain over the weekend. The When When Contest continues.
For those of you who selected dates in April, here is what the back yard looks like. The snow pile there is still at least two gizzys high (that's 3 feet in bean measuring.)

And now for some terrific news. My favorite mousie has dried out and this morning Mom filled it with 'Nip. I waited as patiently as I could. Can you see my whiskers in the right corner of the photo? Now, excuse me, I uh, um... I got stuff to do.

Saturday Cat-NIP-turday

Yesterday I got a little package in the mail from my dear friends, Skeeter, LC & Ayla and their Big Thing. They had read about how Mom had planted a whole lotta stupid Basil, but no 'Nip. So they sent me some!
This is the letter I got with my 'Nip:Isn't that sweet? So is the 'Nip, I gotta tell ya. I sniffed it, ate it, and rolled around in it.
This morning, Mom got up real early and went out. When she came back, she had lots of this junky stupid stuff:
But she -also- bought this:My very own pot of 'Nip. Mom says it will grow real big, and I can have 'Nip leafs whenever I want.

I guess Mom is pretty cool after all!

Sleepy Sunday

Sundays are for napping. I am on the comfy recliner on top of Jasmine's quilt.

Last night, Mom took my nip out of the hallway, where it had been drying. MY VERY OWN, HOME-GROWN NIP. As you can see, I got into it right away, making sure it was ready.

It was ready. It was is GOOD!

Mom stuffed my very favorite mink mousie full of my wonderful home grown NIP. She even added the Nip flowers, which are very good and VERY potent. You can see how eager I was to get my paws on my mousie.

Finally, when it was stuffed FULL of my wonderful, home-grown NIP, Mom let me have the mousie to play with. And I really, really, really had a lot of fun batting it around, and chasing it all over the house.

So you could say the top picture is me recovering from a bit of a Nip-over.

Sunday 'Nip Update

Mom stole some of my 'Nip from my 'Nip plant. See, it looks like she gave it a bad haircut. She says she was "harvesting" it. Yeah sure.
She tied it all up and hung it in the hallway. This is what it looked like when she cut it:
And this is what it looked like this morning, all droopy:I told her she had to take it down, that it was DYING! Mom told me not to get my knickers in a twist, that the plant was still growing, and now looks like this:
That made me feel a -tiny- bit better, but then I saw this picture (which I borrowed from Kelly's blog)

And now I am so jealous I practically can't stand it. LOOKIT ALL THAT WONDERFUL NIP! It is surrounding Kelly! I wish I could roll around in my very own Nip patch. That's what I want NEXT year... a giant Nip patch I can roll around in.

MO-oooooooommmm!

(And what the heck is this talk about knickers anyway?)

PS, Dragonheart posted pictures of his Gizzy quilt over at Bizzy for Gizzy. Go check it out!

Terrible Tuesday

Mom went outside this morning and saw this:
SOMECAT CHEWED MY NIP! SOMECAT SMOTHERED MY NIP!!

MY 'NIP!!!

Mom brought it inside for me to inspect. It smelled OK. It smelled very, very good, in fact.
We tried to figure out a way to keep it outside so it could grow into a big, beautiful 'Nip plant. Mom did figure out a way to keep that bad somecat away from MY 'Nip.

She hanged it.

How-To Tuesday

How to Make a 'Nip Sack

Start with a piece of fabric. It has to be a "long rectangle" or the size of two squares sitting next to each other. This one is 3-1/2" by 7"
Fold in half so it makes a square, right sides together. Sew the side opposite the fold, using at least a 1/4" seam.
Line up the seam with the fold, like in the picture. Now sew across one of the other ends.
Turn the sack inside out. A chopstick is good for getting the corners turned out correctly. Don't push too hard or you might poke a hole in the corner!
Fill with 'Nip. Mom uses "Cosmic Catnip." As you can see, I am supervising and testing the Nip. Somecat has to do it.
When the sack is good and full of nip, bring the raw edges together so the sack is shaped like a pyramid. This seam will be perpendicular to the one on the bottom.
Turn the raw edges in, and pin.
Sew the pinned edge shut. Trim threads, remove pins.
Ta-da! One nifty pyramid shaped 'Nip Sack. Ready for one Secret Paw, which will be on its way to a very special cat by the time you are reading this.
Clean the mess made by one nipped-out cat.HEY! I resemble that remark!
