UP
I am always interested in what is up. As you can see. Mom, however is interested in a different kind of UP. And she wants to go there later after she comes back from hunting the monthend.
Mom and I will be watching the Tennis in Paris (a city she visited once) this weekend too. She said she is glad to see she is not the only bean who turned the heat on in the last couple of days.
Don't forget to buy your raffle tickets for a Gizzy Quilt!
Thanks very much if you have agreed to send a postcard or note to Kidbean.

Formerly Feral Friday
I never had such a good spot as this when I was a feral kitty. I love investigating Mom's unmentionables. I love drawers. It's been colder than normal here. Mom actually got up in the middle of the night, took off her summer nightgown and found a winter one, with long sleeves, put it on, and got back into bed.
It's been raining too. Yuk. Another reason to find a nice comfy place to nap!

Hide
Mom is pretty cool, but sometimes she does the stupidest things, and I'm just embarrassed.
Sometimes she gets up in the middle of the night and opens the cold box instead of turning on a light. She looks in, doesn't take anything out, and then goes back to bed again. What's that all about?
She gets in the rainbox each day, and then she puts this goo in her headfur to make it stand up all spiky. I mean, like, seriously, she's over 50 and has gray headfurs. Who's she trying to kid with spiky hair?
And she waves bye-bye at her computer whenever she shuts it down. For what? It's not like it has legs and can go anywhere.
Seriously.

Mail Call for Kidbean
This is Monty's Kidbean. (this picture was taken last summer)
He has been feeling "left out" because he doesn't get any mail. He wrote a nice letter to Mom, asking if she would write him a letter. Of course she did.
Would anybody else like to send him a picture postcard of something in your town? Or maybe a picture of your lovely feline self? Or a short note (remember he is only 6 years old) saying "Hi"? Or maybe a little drawing or little story about yourself? Something cute and fun.
This isn't a "let's send the kid 8,467 squillion postcards to set a world record" kind of thing. I don't want to freak him out. But he might really enjoy getting some [snail] mail, and in these tough times, I think it can make everybody smile a little bit.
Email me at darlingmillie AT gmail DOT com if you are interested. Because Kidbean is only 6, you have to tell me who you are, and I (or the CB) have to know you. I'm not gonna give his address to strangers. Because, he's practically my own fambly, and I want to protect him.
Thanks!
Don't forget about the Gizzy Quilt Raffle to benefit the Cat Blogosphere's own ML. Tickets are on sale through the end of the month. The Paypal button is right up at the top of the blog, on the right!
And the quilt I was napping on yesterday can be seen at Mom's Quilting Blog.

Millie Monday
You know your Mom is a bit cuckoo when she gets up early on a day she doesn't have to go day hunting. You know something is afoot when she turns on the tv before she turns on the computer. She's watching the tennis in Paris.
I, on the other hand, in addition to performing quality inspection on her newest quilt, have been thinking about my pals in Hoos-ton, Missy Blue Eyes, KC, and the Sherwood bunch.
Mom ML does a lot for all of us cats in the Cat Blogosphere, and she works really hard taking care of her Charley. It just breaks my heart that she is selling her possessions to pay for the ginormous v-e-t bills. I want to help, so I had a long talk with Mom.
We are going to raffle a Gizzy Quilt to raise green papers for Mom ML. You can find the details below, and I will post a Paypal button on my blog before the end of the day.
Gizzy Quilt Raffle Details
1. Gizzy Quilts are made of 100% top quality cotton with a fleece middle.
2. They are 24" square.
3. They are completely machine washable and dryable.
4. Gizzy Quilts usually sell for $45 USD.
5. We will pay for US Priority Mail shipping anywhere in the US. International winners will have to pay the difference for shipping.
6. The winner may choose their color preference, but Mom will make the quilt from fabrics she already has in her stash. (Mom's got a ginormous stash.)
7. The raffle tickets are $5.00 each. You can buy as many as you want.
8. The tickets will be available until midnight on Sunday May 31, 2009. When it isn't Sunday anywhere in the world, the raffle will be over.
9. The winner will be drawn and announced on June 1, 2009.
10. Tickets will be available through Paypal only. We will post a Paypal button on my blog before the end of today, May 25.

Momentous News
Mom has like some serious heavy duty momentous news she wants me to tell you.
It's all about me and frankly, I can't see what the fuss is about.
No, I did not win the lottery.
OK.
Yesterday Mom was cleaning up the living room. She was folding the blankets when the phone rang. She sat down, putting the blanket she was folding on her lap. It was a nice fleece blankie.
I saw she was sitting in the recliner, so I thought it would be a good time to get scritches. I ran over, and jumped up. Then I saw the fleece blankie and I thought "Oooh! Fleece! My favorite!"
So I tested it with my paw, and then curled up on it.
Oh. My Goodness. I thought Mom was going to explode, she was almost sqeeing.
I do NOT know what the excitement was about.
It's not like I was sitting on her lap or anything. Because I wasn't, you know. I was sitting on the fleece blankie.

Freaky Friday
I understand there is this silly movie where a mom and daughter somehow get switched into each other's bodies, and it is called Freaky Friday. Well, turnabout is fair play. You all know what I eat for breakfast. Here's what Mom had one morning this week. And this was -before- she poured the milk into the bowl. I simply cannot understand why she thinks the stuff in this bowl is better than a can of stinky goodness.
I just don't get it.
I told you it was freaky Friday!

Thursday Three - Yak Yak Yak
Last night, Mom came home, gave me my stinky goodness, then went out again. When she came back, her hair was a lot shorter. She hasn't got long hair at all, but now it's what she calls "summer short." Then she had her dinner, and went out again. When she came back this time, she said we might be getting a new couch. (That sounds interesting.) She didn't go out again, but she might as well have. She called Monty's Mom on the telephone, and they talked and talked and talked and talked and talked and talked and talked.... What did they talk about? They talked about Monty and Tucker, and me. They talked about moms and kids, and they told each other funny stories. They laughed. They talked about panties and bread and SweetBean and KidBean, and Mr Karate, and day hunting, and quilts and everything and nothing.
Beans sure are weird.

Three Tries Tuesday
This morning, Mom got up, and opened a can of stinky goodness for me. It was beef. I don't like beef any more. I wouldn't eat it.
I whined.
She tried a can of beef and chicken.
MOM! I don't like beef!
I whined again.
Finally, she got smart, and opened a can of Turkey. I -love- turkey.Nom, nom, nom!
I'm a cat, and I'm entitled to change my mind.

Bucket Brigade
See these kitty litter buckets? Mom uses them as pots for her stupid Basil. Well, the upstairs next-door neighbors use what mom calls "mud buckets" for their tomato plants.
I do not know why Mom buys dirt, and I can't imagine why anybody would buy mud, but nobody's asking me.
Anyways, the upstairs neighbs got a lot of mud buckets yesterday. They were stuck one inside the other. That much I know because I saw them. But then the neighb guy started picking them up and dropping them on the ground. The noise was so positively terrifying I immediately ran away to hide under the bed.
It went on forever and ever. Dinnertime came, and Mom put out a nice can of stinky goodness for me, but I stayed where I was.
Mom ate her own dinner, and washed all the pots and pans, and I still stayed where I was.
Finally, when it was dark outside, and quiet all around, I came out to have my dinner in peace and quiet.
Then I sat next to Mom.

A Dirty Day
It was a Dirty Day yesterday! Not for me! Heaven forbid. (I was halfway across the world, with my friends Adan and Lego celebrating Michico's wedding.)But outside my window there are ginormous bags of dirt,
waving petuniasred and pink geraniumsand herbs. Sage, Mint and Basil. (Mom assures me I shall get 'Nip!)
Mom finished the quilt for Monty's new bean baby that is coming later this year. You can check it out over at her quilting blog.
As for me, well, I need to rest from all the excitement.

Wedding Day!
My tuxie pal (and nose twin) Adan's mom is getting married today! Michico and Arion are getting married. Go on over and with them Concatulations!
I'll be teleporting over later party with Adan and Lego. Any other wedding crashers want to come with me?

Finally Friday!
Let's face it, if you're a Cat (like I am), Friday is just another day. Another day of sleeping as late as I want, demanding to be fed, napping in my favorite spots, whapping various items from the tabletops and getting my special stink on as many of Mom's sewing projects as possible. When she gets back from her day hunting gig, I demand food, attention, and then pretty much do anything I want.
Mom looks forward to Friday because after Friday come Saturday and Sunday, and she doesn't (usually) have to go to her day hunting gig either one of those days. Does she spend those two days sleeping late, or napping in her favorite spots?
No.
She's a silly bean. She'll spend the time doing the washing machine shuffle, going food hunting, dragging the rug sucking monster all over hell and damnation, and she'll be in the sewing room cutting up big pieces of fabric into little pieces of fabric, and then sewing them back up into big pieces of fabric again.
And she thinks I'm crazy for sleeping under the bed.
Go figure.

Tough Week
Mom came home from her day hunting gig on Monday shaking all over. I had to make her sit down so I could get next to her and purr. You will be happy to know I got her back to normal after an hour or so.
Tuesday night wasn't a lot better, although she didn't need so much purring time.
Wednesday she was a little bit better, but she still seemed a bit freaked out to me. I think she said some beans at her day hunting gig were laying down.
She isn't, but I don't understand why laying down is a bad thing. This is one of those times that I am really glad I am a cat.
And it's one time I think Mom would rather be a cat, too.

Tuxie Tuesday Tussle
I promised you a story.
On Saturday, Mim-may came over to watch The # 1 Ladies' Detective Agency on TV. She brought Missy the woofie with her.
I was minding my own business, napping under the bed. Missy came looking for me, and found me. I hissed, and let her know she was invading my space. Missy wasn't too happy about it. Naturally, she tried to apologize, but I had to defend my space!
Mom heard the hissing and growling, and came looking. I had come out from under the bed, and had Missy backed into a corner. Mom separated us, and made Missy leave me alone.
Victory!

Life at Home
Life around here has been pretty dull lately. Mom's been busy sewing (If you want to see the sewing Mom has been doing, you have to go visit her quilting blog), and I've been doing what I'm doing in this quilt... sitting in the windows watching. When I'm not in the window, I've been napping under the bed.
There's a story about that, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow!

Happy Mother's Day
I know I used this picture last week, but it's a good one of Mom and Me. I love my Mom. Happy Mother's Day to all Moms, cats and otherwise.
Mom's gonna spend some time with Auntie Karate, Mr Big and PlusOne, Mr Karate, Mim-may and Pip-pay this morning. They'll be having waffles and strawberries and maple syrup with lots of milk. I'll be having stinky goodness and after my morning nap, when Mom gets home we're going to spend a lot of time sharing the recliner. She'll be giving me scritches, and I'll be purring. It will be a purrfect day!
**Smootchies, all Moms!**
Monty Q honey, make sure you give your Mombean a headbutt and purrs from me.

Family Friday
The quilt for Aiko came back from the quilter yesterday, and I have checked it out. (Aiko is the new babybean that is coming this fall to Monty's family.) The quality of the quilt itself is very good. I am imparting those special things that only cats (and woofies) can provide. My own special stink, and cat hair for two. Love, kindness, thoughtfulness, friendliness are some others.
It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.
If you think I'm joking, check out Roxy's blog today. Her Mom made Monty's Sweetbean a quilt, and Roxy did the same thing to that quilt before Sweetbean got it. You'll have to go visit Roxy to see if she did a good job.

Thoughtful Thursday
You know, sometimes Mom is pretty stupid. I have to lie on each and every piece of clothing she wears every day, to make sure it's marked with my special stink.
She comes home after her day hunting gig smelling of those stupid servants she fusses over all the time. Then she has the nerve to go into the sewing room to sew. I let her know In No Uncertain Terms that she has to SIT in the recliner so I can get her back smelling the way she should.
She ignores me! Imagine that!
(Don't worry, she's got a wing chair in her room that is great for sharpening my claws.)

Easy Like Sunday
This is one of my favorite things.Yes, I am sitting next to Mom in the recliner. We do this a lot now.
This is another picture of my favorite things...
Mom went food hunting yesterday and brought back all this wonderful stinky goodness just for me. Can you believe I get a can in the morning and a can again at dinner? And if you are wondering why none of these cans is all beef, it's because... well, I don't like it any more. Now I like Chick-hen and Turk-key.
I'm a cat. It's my prerogative to change my mind!
