Finally on Friday

Once a quilt starts getting really big, like the HAM Meezer Raffle Quilt, it gets heavy. Mom has a hard time managing it on her small sewing table, so she moves into the table room.Here, the top is all finished. Mom and Auntie will tie the quilt on Saturday, and Mom will try to finish it all up on Sunday, so it can fly out to Mary Kay next week.

Finally.

Thursday Thirteen - finally!

The When When Contest is officially over. The last of the snow in the back yard melted overnight and I am pleased to announce that Fiona Bun has won the consolation prize!
Which is interesting, because Diva Kitty Mom offered to make some snugglies and squiggles for the winners. The package containing these goodies arrived yesterday. No problem for Bounce, Lucy and Trixie, here is a sneak peak into their prize bag:Whoops! Let me get out of the way so you can get a better look:
There's all kinds of neat stuff in there. We'll let Bounce, Lucy and Trixie show off all the goodies when the package arrives at their house. Mom says it will fly out of here tomorrow.

But do I really send a snugglie and squiggles back to Fiona Bun? I think not. And since we live over 3,000 miles away from Fiona Bun, I can't send fresh Basil, Parsley or even Carrots. So I have sent Mom to scour her cookbooks for her favorite Vegetarian recipes and print them out for Diva Kitty Mom. Recipe Porn! Perfect! Heh!

DKM also sent me a wondrous pink snugglie, some of my favorite treats and stinky goodness, and some 'Nip. Here I am enjoying the wonderful 'Nip.

Mom put my beautiful snugglie on my hammock, so I can enjoy it while I lie in the sun!
DKM sent this pretty snugglie for Mom, "for her knees, while she is in the car."Mom LOVES it, but she says it won't be covering her knees! She says, "I have leather seats in my car. You wanna know how COLD those get in the winter when it is ZeroF (-18C) ? That nice snugglie is gonna keep my derriere warm!"

I, uh, think I need a little rest...

Colors on the Brain

I've pointed this out before, how Mom works with some colors during the day, and without her knowing it, she uses the same colors later, but in very unexpected ways. See if you can figure it out this time. Here are three Gizzy quilts Mom worked on yesterday, and at the very bottom, what she made for her dinner last night.
Mom says this is her idea of the perfect one-pot meal.

(That chicken has had its back removed, and also the keelbone, so it lies flat. It was roasted in a 450 oven for 40 minutes. I added the onions with the chicken, and the sweet potato and asparagus at the 25 minute mark. All vegies were tossed with olive oil, salt and pepper before being added to the pan. I also brushed the chicken with barbeque sauce at the 25 minute mark.)

Miral Monday

Mom and I were saddened to hear that Miral went to the Rainbow Bridge over the weekend. She will be sorely missed.

On the home front, you know your Mom is crazy when she gets up in the morning, and before she even has her breakfast, she makes a pillowcase. I'd say she's lost her mind, but hey, she cuts big pieces of fabric into small pieces of fabric and then sews them back together in to big pieces of fabric, so what do I know?

Lilly Lu, Mu Shue & Iris are OK!

We just read the news at the Cat Blogosphere, and Lilly Lu, Mu Shue and Iris have been found, alive, unhurt, and probably seriously freaked out, in their apartment. Animal Control is going to try to get them out tonight!

I am SO HAPPY! (I'm telling you, my purr-er was getting quite a workout purring for them!)

Mom has -NEVER- lived in or near Boston, or even in Massachusetts. But she thought this quiz was pretty neat. (Hmm, the graph isn't displaying properly. Oh well.)

We are still purring for Lilly Lu, Mu Shue, Iris & Mama Laura.

Frustrating Friday

Kikkycat, if the snow was all gone, you would have won the When When contest.
But it is still here.
So you didn't.

I am very frustrated.

Thursday

Oh dear, the snow is still here! Ninjacat, you did not win the When When contest!
I sit on Mom's bureau, so I can look out of both windows and watch the birds. Mom can't see where I am, unless the door to her room is ajar...

Sometimes I'm looking out the wrong window. Here's what Mom saw outside the table room window while I was in her bedroom...
Today is Go Orange for Animals Day. Mom is very disappointed because she doesn't have anything orange to wear.
Neither do I.

Wacky, Wicked, Wednesday

There is a little bit of snow left in this picture, so Scully and Boni, sorry, close but no cigar. You two will not win the When When contest! We will be having another warm, sunny day today, it should hit 61F (16.1C), so the snow will be melting! I have to tell you though, that this patch of snow is in the shade, and the sun never hits it. That is why it is taking so long to melt.

It's Wacky Wednesday, and here I am cleaning my toesies. Monty is gonna faint for sure when he sees this picture. I wonder if he'll make it to the icebox. Then again, there's that cool patch of snow outside...

Tuxie Tuesday

Oh no! There's still snow! That means Kaze, the 2 B's & Madness and Belle & Ranger won't be the winners of the When When contest! It's supposed to get up to 60F (15.56C) today. Maybe that snow will melt!
Diva Kitty gave ML, Roxy & me the Big Kahuna award, for bloggers that swim with grace and intelligence. Thank you so very much. I would like to give this award to Dragonheart and Merlin. Dragonheart is the most kind, gentle, graceful, elegant and most considerate cat I have ever met. He always comments and always displays a positive and friendly attitude. I salute you Dragonheart, and I know you are teaching Merlin to be the same way. Great job!

Mom's been sewing strips of purples and dark greens, and some funky beige. She's got some Gizzy quilts to finish up, so those cats who are waiting, Mom hasn't forgotten you! As you can see, I am testing this blue fabric that Mom just got.

Auntie Karate finally finished the last block of the HAM Meezer Raffle quilt, so Mom will be sewing that up soon and this weekend, she and Auntie will be working on putting it all together and sending it out to Mary Kay. Yay! Finally!

Monday, Monday

Do you see any snow on the ground? Yes. (Drat!)
Did Parker win the When When contest? No.

What with the family dinner and all, Mom got the table room all clean. She took this picture from the kitchen, looking through to her bedroom. Can you see me on the bed? I was watching the birds.Mom says she is feeling very worn and weary, so the very last room on her "Spring Cleaning" to-clean list, the computer room (which is very messy) is going to wait until she takes some of her vacation time.

I have been trying to help her feel better. Last night when she watched Sense and Sensibility, I sat next to her and purred while she petted me.

~~~~~~~~~
Go see Percy. He's feeling better, and has a new favorite napping spot: his new Gizzy Quilt!
Easy Like Sunday Morning
There is still a little bit of snow on the ground in this picture, so Ping, you will not win the When When contest. I think a we will have a winner very soon. But when?I want to thank all the cats who visited my blog yesterday and left Happy Birthday wishes. It was a terrific day. I told you Mom made spaghetti and meatballs. Lookit this picture of all the MEAT she used:
That is 4-3/4 pounds of pork spare ribs, 2-1/2 pounds of ground beef, 1 pound of ground veal, 1 pound of ground pork and 1 pound of sweet pork sausage. (The spare ribs get added to the sauce separately.) Mom says she will post the recipe on her cooking blog later. She made so much, that Roxy's Mom left with some, and Mimmay took some home too. Everybody was really happy about that. Even Missy, who came over too, had three meatballs of her own, and kept begging Mom for more.It was pretty funny to watch six beans going "Nom, nom, nom" all at the same time. Afterward they all watched a DVD on Mom's new picture box.
It's a very skinny box. Mom is -way- excited about it.
Today is My Birthday!
Maggie and LC, there is still snow in this picture, so you will not win the When When contest. The -only- snow in this picture is right behind the fence. There isn't any snow anywhere else. I think we will have a winner very soon.
Today is my birthday! I am TWO! I am a Lady Kitty! I got Stinky Goodness for breakfast, and Mom says I am gonna have it for dinner too! And I can have as many treats as I want all day long! And I know I am gonna get PRESENTS! And the WHOLE FAMILY is coming over for dinner and CAKE later.
My fur cousins Roxy and Lucky tagged me for a meme. It's the Make a Wish meme, and it's perfect, since everybody gets a to make a wish on their birthday.
The Rules
1. Think about what it is that you want more than anything, what your heart's desire and fondest wish is, and what it is that you would wish for if you were to see the above wishing star flame across the night sky.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic below.
3. Use a graphics program of your choice and place your wish on this picture:4. Post the Make A Wish Meme and your wishing star on your blog along with these rules.
5. Tag as many people as you like so that there can be wishing stars all across the Blogosphere.
So here is -my- birthday wish. Since I am an exceptionally lucky kitty (formerly feral, hit by a car, almost died, got rescued, got a TERRIFIC forever home...) I know what it is like NOT to have any of the things all us cats with people have. So it was very easy for me to make my birthday wish.
Happy Birthday Millie!
Formerly Feral Friday
Monty Q, Meerkat, Fire, you guys... are so close! But there is still snow on the ground, so you are out of the When When contest. I'm sorry!Yes, it is snowing this morning. Mom says it will turn to rain a little later. Yeah right!
Tomorrow is my Birthday! I'm gonna be TWO! I'll be a Lady Kitty! Mom said I'm gonna get stinky goodness. The Family is coming over to dinner too. Mom says she's gonna make spaghetti and meatballs. I bet the meatballs are made with BEEF! After that there's gonna be cake and everybody is gonna watch a movie on Mom's new picture box.Me? I'll probably find a nice quiet place and take a nap. I sure wouldn't be celebrating if I wasn't formerly feral.
There is Still Snow Thursday
Pixel there is still a bit of snow in the picture, so you haven't won the When When contest. Sorry!I have decided that there will be a consolation prize. Even though the snow might disappear in this view out front, there is still a lot of snow out back, where Mom parks the metal machine she calls Astro. As you can see.
When the snow is gone in THIS picture, the cat who picked that day will ALSO get a prize!
Woo hoo!
Go, Snow, Go!
