Mom loves tennis. It is time for the Australian Open, so the only thing that will be on the picture box for the next two weeks (outside of Downton Abbey, Sherlock and my pals the guys named Pat) will be the tennis.
I sense prolonged periods for laptime and scritches.
Sounds good.
(but boy, oh boy, was Mom pissed at Julian Fellowes last night...)

Millie Monday
It's still cold out, and there is a little bit of snow left on the ground. It won't stay around for long. All you When-When wishers are going to have to wait a few months.
In other news and events, Mom and I were watching my pals, the guys named Pat, on TV last night and it wasn't looking good. A series of unfortunate events had the guys down by 24 points early in the second half. It was late, so Mom and I went to bed, not looking forward to watching the guys lose.
Turns out I should have better faith in Tom Brady and Mr Belly-check. In the second half they made a big comeback and ended up winning the game.
I shall leave you to imagine my thoughts about the other guys. Let's just say I am VERY happy my pals, the guys named Pat, didn't give up.

What Won?
So what did Mom watch last night?
Because the ticking clock show ran late, Survivor didn't start until 9 PM, when The Next Iron Chef started. So Mom started out watching the guys named Pat. It was raining at Razor Field and the game started badly for my guys. Besides, Mom has an app on her iFone that tells her how the guys named Pat are doing.
So Mom watched The Next Iron Chef.
Me? I napped.

Sunday TV Con-un-drum
Mom and I watch a lot of TV together. There isn't any tennis until the Aussie Open next January, so Mom's TV watching is a bit more, shall we say, varied. You all know that Mom loves Project Runway, and we both love our pals, the guys named Pat. She also loves cooking shows.
She has a big problem. Tonight, the guys named Pat are playing at 8:20. The Next Iron Chef is at 9:00. But Mom has a guilty pleasure. A show she loves to watch, but keeps secret. Mom loves Survivor. The two hour season finale is at 8:00 tonight.
Which will Mom watch?
I dunno, but I think the remote is gonna get a workout.

I Am A Sports Fan Cat
I am a Sports Fan.
I watch the Tennis with Mom, and sometimes Golf, but best of all, I love my pals, The Guys Named Pat. They are playing in a very big game today, and I sure do hope they win it. None of us fans expected they could make it to the Super Bowl this year, and we are very proud of them. I know lots of beans don't like the guys named Pat, and frankly, I don't want to hear it. They are my team.
Go Pats!

Le Weekend
Mom was taming the paper tiger on her desk on Saturday, but we got invaded by these guys
who stayed to watch a movie. (That's PlusOne on the left, and Mr Karate on the right). Mom had to make THREE batches of popcorn with Parmesan cheese for them to eat.
I hid in my tent.
Today Mom finished with the paper tiger, paid all the Mr Bills and now we are watching my pals, the guys named Pat.
Well, sort of. Sometimes those games are just a little bit scary. (I hope we win, I hope we win, I hope we win...)
OMB! OMB! OMB! OMB! (Oh My Bast!) We WON! The guys named Pat are going to the Super Bowl! OMB! Woo Hoo!

O Happy Day!
Have I told you all lately how much I love my friends, the guys named Pat? It was so much fun watching them play Teebow's Broncos. I'm sure Mr Cabinetmaker wasn't enjoying it so much. (Mr Cabinetmaker is Mom's brother who lives in Colorado.)
You know that Mom's on a roll when I don't post on a Saturday. It means Mom got up early, went food hunting, and then did all her errands. Yesterday was no different. While Mom was doing that. I was doing this.
I plan to be doing a lot more of this today.

Millie Monday
Mom's not usually a johnny-come-lately to much of anything. Usually she's on top of just about everything. But she missed the bus the first time Masterpiece showed Downton Abbey, so she's been doing a bit of catching up. She'd watched bits from each episode, but not the whole thing from start to finish.
We took care of that yesterday, watching all four episodes - the first three on the internets, and the last one on the picture box. Six hours, wow. Yes, I napped next to Mom, and sometimes on her lap while we watched.
We took a break to watch my friends, the guys named Pat, romp around with the poor Bills from Buffalo.
The Christymas tree is down. Mom took it all apart, and put it in its great big box. Mom says it is going going gone, and that next year we'll have a smaller tree. She's hoping somebody from Freecycle will want it and take it away. I'm going to miss that tree and the great big box, but Mom says it will work out, and she promises me we will have a Christymas tree next year, so I'm not worried.
Today we're going to watch Roses parade on floats. I've never seen roses float, so I'm quite looking forward to it.
Oh, and Mom has -finally- taken some pictures of me, so my posts will have photographic evidence of my recent exploits!

Sporty Sleepy Sunday
I've been doing a lot of sleeping on Mom's bed. I now sleep next to her almost every night.
The other night she got home from day hunting, fed me my stinky goodness, and then lay down on the couch and read a book on her Kindle.
For five hours.
Holy Bast, she needed a good night's sleep after that. I was only too happy to help.
Today? Today is a sports Sunday for her. Tennis, and then my pals, the Guys Named Pat.
I'll be napping.
**Mom just finished reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Monday Funday
Monty, honey, get yourself a cushion so you don't hurt yourself if you fall over, because you might need it when you look at this picture of me practicing my kittycat yoga:
I got a lot of snuggling time with Mom yesterday. She took a nap in the middle of the day, and I lay down next to her. Later, we watched my pals, the guys named Pat win their game.

Tuxie Tuesday

Do you know this is my 900th post? Pretty amazing, huh?
Yesterday, while Mom was watching Roger, I was sitting next to her, purring, while she was petting me and giving me scritches. If she stopped, I'd meow, and get her to continue. I've been here just over two whole years, and I really think I like this petting business. I didn't used to.
It sure is a good thing I can change my mind.
I sure am gonna miss watching my pal Tom play with the guys named Pat. I am confident they will do well without him, but it won't be as much fun. I guess I have been spoiled by watching The Best (and it isn't your Steelers, Monty!).

Not Easy Sunday
Mom brought THIS home yesterday. The v-e-t wanted Mom to think about some special Obesity Management food by Purina which is by prescription. Mom would like to try a lower calorie food and see if that works. Mom used to give this to Gizzy and Jasmine, and she said it worked. So we shall see. Of course, if -I- am f-a-t, I can only imagine how many other f-a-t cats there are out there.
'Nuff said!
Moving on to another subject -- here are some of those fabric blocks Mom has been working on. After she cut them all up, and then mixed them up and sewed them back together again, she set them out on the floor. Then she started moving them around, and I helped quite a bit. But she didn't like the changes I made. Here is one section she thought was working well. As it turns out, she thinks she needs more blocks. So she will probably be making more later... but she has set this project aside for now. Do you know what she made yesterday afternoon?
She made a pillowcase.
The fabric is by Jane Sassaman, and Mom was inspired by her blog. Mom has had that fabric for a couple of years now, and didn't know what to do with it. She really wanted to use different fabrics like in the examples (see Jane's blog), but decided to make a simple pillowcase first, to see how she liked it. She only made ONE, and will probably make the second one today, while she frets about The Game.
After that, it's back to the Gizzy quilts (finally.)
Oh yeah, about The Game. We'll be watching, and keeping our fingers & paws crossed for a Perfect ending to a Perfect Season. And if you are rooting for the other guys, or if you hate the guys named Pat (because people tend to hate people who are Very Good at something), I don't want to hear it.
Mom did post a recipe suitable for Game Day over at her cooking blog.

Going to the Super Bowl!!

We're going to the Super Bowl!
We're going to the Super Bowl!
We're going to the Super Bowl!
We're going to the Super Bowl!
The Guys Named Pat, my beloved New England Patriots, have won the AFC Championship and are going to the Super Bowl!

Yippee! One more game to win to cap a PERFECT season!
Oh, so much excitement, I have to go take a nap!
Easy Sunday, (for now...)
The house is clean.
The picture box room is clean. (Mom did those two drawings. Mim-may did the painting of the lily)
The bathroom is clean (so are the litterboxes)
The kitchen is clean.
The computer room is clean. The dining room table is cleared of stuff. Mom's bed has been made. The books have been kept (whatever THAT means). The rug sucking monster has made an appearance. The laundry is being done.
The Gizzy quilts that will fly out of here the day after tomorrow (thanks, Pixel!) are almost finished.
Everything is ready for The Game today at 3 PM Eastern Time, between my beloved Guys Named Pat and the lightning bolt guys for the AFC Championship.
I'm gettin' ready too...

They won again last night, and are still undefeated.

Patriots Pursue Perfection

For all the fans of the Dolphins, Steelers, Colts, Jets, Chargers, Bills, Bengals, Browns and Cowboys. For fans of the Redskins, Eagles and Ravens, I know it would be nice to say I am sorry that my team beat yours, but I am not. I am a New England Patriots fan. They are the guys named Pat, and they are my team.
Say what you want about spygate, or about the arrogance of the Coach (kinda like a cat, if you ask me), my pals, the guys named Pat, went out and beat the others. You don't like that they scored a lot of points? Too bad, that's what defense is for.
I hope we beat the Giants, and I hope we beat all the other teams, and go to the Super Bowl and win it.
I am a fan of the guys named Pat, the New England Patriots, and they are my team.
Tonight they pursue a perfect season, and I am rooting for them.
GO PATS!

Monday Morning Quarterbacking
Well, Mom made some English Muffin Bread, Brownies and roasted another chicken in the hot-as-hell box again today. Can you tell Mr Karate was here for dinner? Mom will use the leftover chicken to make a Cobb Salad for lunches this week.
They watched a movie, and then they watched my favorite team, the guys named Pat. I can't imagine the Buffalos enjoyed playing last night. I love Tom Brady. He is so cool! (Monty, don't get worried, I just like Tom as a football player. YOU are my # 1 cat!)
Mom also worked on a few Gizzy Quilts, and as most of you know, started a cooking blog of her own. Heh. I got tired of her hogging mine.
And YES! I got some of that nice chicken! Mom dropped some on the floor, and I scarfed it right up! It isn't as good as beef, but it works for me!

Last Stop on the Road Trip
We are visiting Tara and Kavan today. They have a lovely yard. I got to watch hummingbirds and climb the tree. We will also visit Miss Peach, who has organized hot air balloon rides for all of us. We also had a terrific visit with DKM & the fluffies... that massage was just what I needed to renew my spirits. That barbeque with Michael, well, I've never had such fabulous food! I'm impressed!
This has been the most incredible week of my life. I have had so much fun with my friends, and seen so many new places, and tried new foods. It has been magical, the I cannot thank my friends enough for their generous hospitality!
But as you all know, I am homesick. My dear Monty Q has organized a train to bring us back home. It is a really fast train. We will put the big red bus on it, and bring all the cats back home. In Florida, we will put the cars on the train, and head back to the cold Northeast. We will spend Monday speeding across the country, and I will be home sometime on Tuesday!
But you know what Monty Q did just for me? He made sure the train had a GIGANTIC wide screen plasma TV so Roxy, Lucky and I could watch The Big Game today between The Guys Named Pat and those horseshoe guys, even though the Guys Named Pat are not Monty's favorite team.

Now that's love!

A Skinny Gizzy Quilt
It's a VERY good day to be a New England Sports fan. The guys named Pat beat the Dolphins (sorry Daisy), and the Red Sox are going to the World Series! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Mom made me another quilt, twice as big as the last "table quilt." It's the size of half an ordinary Gizzy. I call it a Skinny Gizzy. This one has pieces that many cats may recognize from their quilts... I see pieces from Mr Zenith, Parker, Charlemagne, Samantha, Beau, Marie, Freya, Daisy Mae Maus, Speedy, Daisy, Kimiko and Kona's quilts.
Here's the back. I love it. It's really funky.
And here I am trying it out. As you can see, it is just the right size. It's sitting on a stack of fabric Mom has to cut and iron.
Mom's feeling poorly. She keeps honking. She says her nose is running, but every time I look at her, it's right on her face where it belongs.
