JJ, I am sorry, but instead of the snow going away, we got a little bit overnight and as you can see there is still snow on the ground. You are not this year's winner of the When When Contest.
Mom cleaned the house yesterday, which included dragging the rug sucking monster in all the rooms. It looks nice in here, I have to say. She hasn't been "motivated" most of the winter, and now she is happy. She finished a nifty black-and-white quilt she's been working on, and that makes her feel good.
It ought to. It is made of MY COLORS! It only took her how many years to make a quilt inspired by my furs (and Gizzy and Jasmine's)? Anyways, after she finishes a quilt she always cleans the house.
I am celebrating by camping out in the nifty tent she made for me.

Tennis in Oz
Mom loves tennis. It is time for the Australian Open, so the only thing that will be on the picture box for the next two weeks (outside of Downton Abbey, Sherlock and my pals the guys named Pat) will be the tennis.
I sense prolonged periods for laptime and scritches.
Sounds good.
(but boy, oh boy, was Mom pissed at Julian Fellowes last night...)

Icky Monday
I am napping on the tall stool in the Office, on my window perch, in my heated cat cup. (I like to keep Mom guessing.) It is raining outside, and has been raining most of the night. The sun is up, although you can't tell from this photo.
While it rained most of the night, the temperatures were close to freezing, so that black road really very slippery and Mom will have to be careful when she drives to her day hunting gig in the metal masheen.
Yesterday Mom went to see the new Hobbit movie with Mim-may and Pip-pay. She was so tired later that she couldn't stay up to watch the first episode of Downton Abbey. Tsk Tsk. No spoilers, please!

Crap. Mom's going day hunting today. I like it when she stays home so I can get scritches any time I want.

Garden Day
It's hot here in New Hampster. I have found a cool place to nap.
Mom is happy she got the house all nice and clean before the hots got here. She wants to show off her garden. She's pretty cool, so I will let her.
Here is a picture of what it looked like at the beginning of June.
and here is what it looks like now.
Mom has been picking lettuce and spinach and a-roo-gala, and clipping herbs like basil, chives, rosemary, thyme, parsley, sage, oregano and marjoram to add to the things she cooks for dinner.

Lookit! Mr Karate sent Mom these flowers for Father's Day. He sent along a note saying that since she did the work of two parents he could celebrate her on two days. Pretty cool, huh?
Of course I have always known Mom is seriously awesome.
After all, she picked me!

Mom can't make the bed if I'm napping on it.
Heh.
Mom went too Ooo-Ick's yesterday and ate one of these:
It's a "Lob-stah" roll. She was raving about it. (Dunno why, we all know I much prefer BEEF!) Mom thinks it's pretty funny when the so-called "chefs" try to make the lobster roll "better." They add all kinds of silly stuff, but Mom says all it needs is Lobster, mayo, and a toasted hot dog roll. Mom adds some finely chopped celery, a little lemon juice and some pepper. Mom says, sure you can dress it up, but when you have lovely lobster like this (see those great big chunks?) it's a sin to add anything that takes away from the lobster.
By the way, Mom ate half of this Lobstah Roll before she thought to take a picture of it.
Mom and I will be watching the Tennis. It's a perfect day here in New Hampster, on stay-cation day 3.

It's Monday!
It's a great day!
Erm, can I have a little privacy, please?
Well if I can't.... Mom has been doing well on the WW bit. She has lost 5 pounds (2.2 kg).

Millie Monday Monday

Yesterday, I was napping, and Mom was doing what Mom does on the weekend. Then all of a sudden, I looked up from my napping spot and saw her in bed, sleeping.
In her pajamas.
At three o'clock in the afternoon.
I mean, I know it's been raining and the weather's been cold and crappy, but seriously...
Mom. Napping. In the middle of the day...*
Holy carp! Maybe there's hope for her after all!!
*Mom's fine. She's just been staying up too late reading and watching tv.

I've been sticking close to Mom lately. She's been doing a lot of housecleaning stuff since coming back from vacation, but I've made sure she SITS so she can give me scritches. We all know how that helps keep a people's stress level down.

It is simply a cat's prerogative to not eat what your bean puts in your bowl and ask for something else.
This morning, I got my usual bowl of stinky goodness - today it was Beef, usually my most favoritest flavor, but Mom just bought a new bag of crunchies, so when she put some in another bowl, well, I just couldn't help myself.
Change is good.
Changing your mind when your Mom doesn't expect it... Priceless.

I Am a Lap Cat
No fooling. Mom sits down. I get in her lap.
If I want to get in Mom's lap and she's NOT sitting down, I meow. Eventually (she is a human, after all, it takes a while) she figures it out and sits down so I can get in her lap.
Yay me!

Mom's not usually a johnny-come-lately to much of anything. Usually she's on top of just about everything. But she missed the bus the first time Masterpiece showed Downton Abbey, so she's been doing a bit of catching up. She'd watched bits from each episode, but not the whole thing from start to finish.
We took care of that yesterday, watching all four episodes - the first three on the internets, and the last one on the picture box. Six hours, wow. Yes, I napped next to Mom, and sometimes on her lap while we watched.
We took a break to watch my friends, the guys named Pat, romp around with the poor Bills from Buffalo.
The Christymas tree is down. Mom took it all apart, and put it in its great big box. Mom says it is going going gone, and that next year we'll have a smaller tree. She's hoping somebody from Freecycle will want it and take it away. I'm going to miss that tree and the great big box, but Mom says it will work out, and she promises me we will have a Christymas tree next year, so I'm not worried.
Today we're going to watch Roses parade on floats. I've never seen roses float, so I'm quite looking forward to it.
Oh, and Mom has -finally- taken some pictures of me, so my posts will have photographic evidence of my recent exploits!

One of Mom's quilt blogging friends has lent her a really nice sewing machine. Mom's really excited. She keeps talking about how much I changed her life, how if she hadn't adopted me everything would be different.
Well, like, duh!

Mom's got a big week coming up. Since she's cooking not one, but TWO turkeys, and at least a dozen beans are coming over for Turkey Day, she's been spending a lot of time in the kitchen. She's already cleaned the house, but I suspect she'll find something else that needs doing.
Me? I'm watching as much Bird TV as I can. The cat hammock is a perfect spot for it. What are your beans doing this Turkey Day?

There's nothing better than napping in warm laundry out of the drying monster
Unless maybe it's winning a prize! Ayla, Iza and Marley and their TBT won a copy of the "Awkward Family Pet Photos" book.
Concatulations, and may you all laugh at the pictures, and never be caught in one!

This is me, lying next to Mom on the couch, getting scritches. I don't do this every day.
There's still a lot of snow outside. School has been cancelled and a lot of folks are without electricity. They even cancelled Halloween!

Mom had a great class the other day, but was good for nothing on Sunday. She lay on the couch, watched TV and gave me scritches.
It was a great weekend.

I've been keeping an eye on Mom, making sure she doesn't get too tired before her big week. So far, she's doing pretty good.
She put some BEEF in the crooked pot (yes, I know it's the crock pot, but I think crooked pot is funnier.) This means her dinner will be all ready when she gets home
She has also replenished my stinky goodness stash. There is enough foods for me for almost two weeks. All my favorite flavors too.
Please go over to see my friend Parker and leave her some purrs. She could use them. She has the dreaded C-word, cancer. I've got my purr-er in overdrive for her.
