Frisky Friday

I don't spend ALL DAY on the quilt in the plum wing chair. I do stuff.
What do I do? I sit in the windows and look outside, I whap things, and I hunt.

You heard me, I hunt. A cricket got in the house yesterday. It is getting cooler at night, and they want to get inside to get warm. Well, I do not like bugs in MY house, so I hunted him down and deaded him. I left him on the floor in the living room so Mom would know. I thought she'd take a picture as a trophy, but nope.

(sigh.)

PS, check this out: Cat Scans! It's just too funny!

Friday Facts

Here is the tree today. It -appears- to have lost some leafs, but there is still a very stubborn bunch clinging to some of the higher branches, as you can see in the detailed photo below:
So, the contest continues. Nobody picked today, so while we have no winner, we do not have a loser.

I have some Friday Facts to correct some misconceptions, as indicated by some of the comments on yesterday's post.

1. I always liked being petted, but I didn't -ask- to be petted.

2. Gizzy -always- loved being petted, and sat in anybody's lap when he was a kit, but once he turned one, no laps for him. That lasted about 7 years, until Mr Karate went away one summer. Toward the end of the summer he got so lonely he climbed into Mom's lap, and was a lap cat the rest of his life.

3. Mom was (and still is) reading The Friday Night Knitting Club. No spoilers, please.

4. The Last Leaf Falls Contest will end on December 16, the last date chosen. Those last leafs will fall, but it might not be until Spring, when New Leafs take their place. If the leafs fall before then, oh well!

5. I still don't sit in anybody's lap.

6. Mom has picked me up exactly twice. First time was the moment we met, way back when. The second time was my last visit to the v-e-t. We were waiting for Dr. L, and I was on that metal table you all know about, trembling. Mom picked me up to try to soothe me. I let her hold me for about fifteen seconds then started wiggling. Mom put me down.

7. Pip-pay is home from rehab, and is walking around with a cane!

Friday Facts

"I know there's a Temp-tay-tion treat around here somewhere...."

Mom is always happy when Fridays come around. Except she will have to go day hunting on Saturday, for which she is seriously bummed. Anyway, here are some random facts I have been collecting this week:

1. The broken kitchen window has been replaced. Turns out it was a custom size and had to be made special. That's why it took so long.

2. Mom went to the dentist for her crown. I don't understand what a dentist has to do with a crown, and I didn't see her wearing a crown. I was really looking forward to playing with it. She says she has a "temporary crown" and she will get the real one in a month.

3. She says the dentist looked and found another place where she would need a crown. But he fixed it so she can get this other crown next year. Dunno why, she has only one head, why does she need more than one crown?

4. Last year at this time she was getting ready to go to Texas. The shindig this year is in SanDiego, home of Daisy Mae Maus and the Feline Americans, but Mom is staying home this year. She's seriously bummed out about that too.

5. Mr Karate & the Boy will play their cellos together in a recital on Sunday. Mr Karate told Mom to bring her earplugs. Huh?

6. Mom was quite surprised when Tsonga beat Nadal in straight sets at the Australian Open. She was also surprised when Djokovic beat Federer.

7. She was really saddened to learn that Heath Ledger died.

8. I am not sleeping on Mom's bed at night. Been there, done that.

9. Of course, I had to sleep there last night because, well, you know.

10. Marty is settling in at his new home at the top of Mount Washington.
As you can see.
