Sheesh!

Tempting Tuxie Tuesday

Mom says I look like a temptress here. She says I'm gonna make Monty Q faint again. She says I can be very naughty.

Ha! Ha! She's right!

But I don't know WHO (except Fiona Bun) would be tempted in the least by this:

and I am told this is 'Nip. I have to say I am not impressed.

Spring?

The calendar says this is May. So how come I see Halloween fabric?
Oh. A Halloween Gizzy kitty quilt. Let me guess... this must be for either an all Black or a Gorgeous Ginger kitty.

Looks good next to me, too.

Mom's Mother's Day

Derby wondered if my suggestions for what to do for your Mom on Mother's Day were really not-so-subtle hints to Mr Karate.

I told him the answer was no. Mr Karate did not need any help figuring out what to do for his Mom on Mother's Day.

He had to work, and when he got out at 3:00 PM he called her and asked if she had some different kinds of food. Ricotta cheese (yes), Parmesan cheese (yes), Asiago cheese (yes), Ricotta cheese (yes), fresh Basil (yes), fresh Parsley (yes), Olive oil (duh!), 28 oz can tomatoes (no, she made tomato soup last week), vanilla (yes), sliced almonds (no, all out). Then he said, "OK, I will be there about 6 PM."

At 6PM he arrived, with a few bags of groceries and took over the kitchen. I dunno what it is, but it smells good and Mom is smiling.

Mother's Day

Sunday is Mother's Day. It's a day to celebrate Moms.

Bring your Mom flowers. Cook waffles for your Mom for breakfast. Take her out for Sushi. Bring her to see a show in the City. Take her to the movies. Visit an Art Museum with her. Bring her a box of her favorite chocolates. Get her a gift certificate to her favorite bookstore. Give her a CD of her current favorite band. Or maybe a DVD of her favorite Opera.
Don't forget to get her a card.

Or bring her on a ten day motorcycle trip through Moab Utah, Arches National Park, Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon.

But for heaven's sake, don't forget her. Or we'll be having a private conversation later, you and me.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. You Moms (truly) Rock!

Hiding Out

I'm hiding out from Jasmine.

Do you think it's working?
I can't see her anywhere.

Friendly Feline Friday

I am so lucky to have friends. I love my friends. I love blogging and being able to share my adventures with my friends. Of course, sometimes you meet a very special friend.

Like Monty Q. He and his MomBean sent my Mom a big box of fabric to help with the Gizzy quilts. It had some terrific fabric in it and Mom was really happy. So I knew he was special right off the bat.

He claims to be about 14-1/2 pounds (cough) so I think that means he's bigger, but that's OK with me, because Gizzy was 15.6 pounds when I came to live here back in August. I thought Gizzy was PERFECT, so if Monty Q is as big as Gizzy was, well, then Monty Q must be pretty cool.

Anyway.

Today when Mom got home from her day hunting, the guy in the blue shorts had left a package, and it was addressed to ME.I could tell by sniffing the box that it was a SPECIAL package, and inside was NIP! Nip Flowers - the most potent kind of Nip! And Nip seeds, so Mom can plant me more Nip! And BEEF treats! And three cans of stinky goodness!

It was SO GOOD! Mom let me have some Nip, and I had a little bit of a Nip frenzy. Oh! It was SO GOOD! Monty Q, you're the MAN-cat. You are AWESOME! You just made my whole Day! Week, Month, even! Thank you so so much! Monty Q, you can teleport over any time you want and share my cat hammock with me.

Mom says it's okay because Jasmine can be the chaperone and she'll make sure there won't be any funny business going on.

(No kidding. Jasmine wouldn't know funny if it...)

Oops.

Mom says I have to be nice.

Here's Jasmine tonight, doing the final Quality Assurance check on another kitty quilt. This one is going to a beautiful grey tiger cat with soft green eyes. This quilt, and the yellow one from yesterday, and the purple one from the day before are going to cats who live together.

Do you know I still don't have a kitty quilt of my own yet?

Seven Random Facts About Me

I've been tagged by Luxor and Parker.

Here are the rules. Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write on their own blog about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your blog!

Seven Random Facts About Me:

1. I love Beef.
2. I love my feather toys.
3. I love to run really fast.
4. Although I like it when Mom pets me and gives me scritches, I am not totally comfortable about it.
5. I don't like having my claws trimmed.
6. I meow very loudly when I want Mom's attention.
7. I hate the rug-sucking monster.

I am tagging:
1. Mr Zenith
2. Zippy

Wide Wednesday???

I am Not FAT! I'm NOT! This is simply a terribly unflattering pose from a very bad angle. I just needed to stretch a bit. On this new quilt that Mom just finished making for somecat. Everybody knows the camera adds pounds.

I wonder if I am as long as a gizzy* yet?

I bet I'm close.

The Hiss - The Look

Here is a picture of Jasmine and I. This is what happens when we are in the same room together. She tries to scare me away by giving me "The Hiss." I give her "The Look" back.

Clean and Dirty

It was a really boring weekend. Mom didn't do much of anything interesting.

She dug around in all that stupid dirt, took yukky green leafy rabbit food from smaller pots of dirt and put them into bigger pots of dirt. She claims she made another pot of cat grass and another big pot of catnip, but they both look like dirt to me, so I'm not impressed.

She moved some stuff in and some stuff out of the picture box room and dragged the rug sucking monster around in there. She did the same thing in the studio.

She brought some more stuff down to the Pit of Despair. That place must be pretty big.

She went food hunting and brought back all kinds of boring yukky junk.

She even took some pieces of wood and made her bed higher so she could put this great big box on wheels underneath. Then she filled that with stuff.

She did some kind of dance with the washing and drying monsters because she kept saying she was doing the "washing machine shuffle." To give her credit I have to say she also folded all those clothes and put them all away. For the first time in weeks there isn't a laundry basket of clothes sitting around somewhere.

She made something called granola and a big pot of red stuff she calls tomato soup. Neither had any beef in it so my question is, why bother? And there aren't any dirty pots and pans or dishes all over the kitchen counter this morning. She thinks that's a very big deal. Of course, the table in the table room is still covered with books and papers and small boxes and stuff. And the rug sucker is still standing out in the open.

She talked to her brother in Catorado because their Mom is flying out there today for a two week motorcycle trip with this brother (she says we can call him Mr CabinetMaker) through some of the National Parks in Utah (like Bryce, Zion and Moab). Her Mom is 73, so imagine her in full biking gear on the back of a motorcycle.

She did do a couple of things she was really supposed to do. She worked out a kitty quilt in black and white and green for somecat, and she added fleece middles and backing to a few others and quilted them.

So all in all it was a pretty dull weekend around here.

Another Dirty Day!

Check this out:
Three of these are supposed to be Red Rubin Basil.
Three of these are supposed to be Purple Ruffles Basil.
Three of these are supposed to be Sweet Basil.
Three of these are supposed to be Green Ruffles Basil.
Three of these are supposed to be Thai 'Siam Queen' Basil.
Three of these are supposed to be Spicy Saber Basil.

Six of these are supposed to be Genovese Basil.
Three are supposed to be Peppermint, three others are supposed to be Marjoram.

To me, they're all just DIRT! I just don't understand it. Mom gets 24 dirt pots of Basil and I get two measly dirt pots of 'Nip.

I mean, I know Mom likes Pesto, but this is ridiculous.

I'm just sayin'.

Don't Cry for Us!

Everycat & bean,

Thanks for your kind thoughts, but please don't cry for us. We are not so sad we are miserable. We are doing OK. Jasmine and I are getting pets from Mom, and we are making sure she isn't lonely. Jasmine and I are figuring out how we are going to get along. I keep asking her to play and she says "Go away!" Someday she'll change her mind, I just know it.

In the meantime, I play in the sewing room when Mom is working on Gizzy Kitty Quilts. Jasmine watches from the worktable.

O.K., so she doesn't watch.

How It Izz Without Our Giz

We all miss Gizzy.

Mom slows the car machine down as she drives up the driveway every day to look at the window where Gizzy would wait for her. She says she doesn't expect to see Gizzy, but she'd like it if either Jasmine or I would watch for her, or greet her at the door.

She says it's weird not to see Gizzy waiting for her to get out of the rainbox every morning. And there is no reason to let the water run in the bathroom sink any more, because both Jasmine and I drink from the various water bowls we have around the house.

Gizzy always was wherever Mom was, watching her, or napping nearby. Now, sometimes she finds herself all alone in a room, and that's new for her.

~

Jasmine misses her pal. She and Gizzy would nap next to each other in Mom's chair. They didn't fight. He liked the high places and she didn't. They could both sleep on Mom's bed at night. They took turns on her lap.

Jasmine was Mom's cat, and Gizzy was Mr Karate's cat for about 7 years. Then Mr Karate went away to college. Gizzy was lonely and spent more time near Mom. Jasmine didn't really like it at first, but they worked it out. When Gizzy got sick, he wanted to spend as much time as he could in Mom's lap, and Jasmine kinda got left out. So now that Gizzy is gone, Jasmine wants Mom back as her special person. I guess I understand.

~

I miss Gizzy a lot. I know he was a geezer cat, sick and old, but when I came to live here, he was really nice to me. He let me lie next to him. He'd wash my ears. We'd play a little bit. He didn't like it when I squished him when we were on the cat hammock together, but I liked to be near him. Now I don't have anybody to cuddle up next to. Jasmine doesn't want me anywhere near her, and I'm just not ready to sit in Mom's lap, or let her pick me up.

When Gizzy was sick, he would sleep next to Mom on the bed. In the morning, before Mom would wake up, I would lie down next to him. Mom would wake up, and reach down to pet us, and she would pet me too. I think she even pet my belly a coupla times, but it was okay, cause I knew she was stuck under the covers. Now, Jasmine either sleeps at the end of Mom's bed, and watches the door from inside the bedroom, or she sits on the big blue chair in the table room and guards it from outside. If I even try to get into Mom's bedroom, she hisses at me. So if I wanted to sleep on the bed or on the comfy chair in there, I can't.

If Jasmine is in the kitchen, she hisses at me if I try to come in. I am lucky that I can jump higher than she can, so I can jump onto the counter to get my crunchies. The table in the table room is really big, plenty big for all of us, but if I try to get up there in the morning when Mom is eating breakfast, Jasmine has a huge hissy fit, and fights me to make sure I don't get up there. And I can't even THINK about getting next to Mom when she is at the computer. Heavens to Murgatroyd, that's Jasmine's spot!

That leaves Mom to give me some touching and cuddling. If you can believe it, I jump on the counter and STARE at her, and MEOW like crazy trying to get her attention. It took a few tries but she finally understood that I wasn't really interested in treats, or more food, that I really wanted her to give me scritches and pets. I'm training her, so she'll KNOW what I want.

Well, ok, I'll take treats too, or more food, if I can get it.

More Dirty Business

I am beginning to wonder if Fiona hijacked my Mom. Lookit this:

Apparently this is Dill.

And this stuff is Purple Sage.

In this big pot is Red Leaf Lettuce.

Yuk!

YUK!

YUK!

And Mom is trying to convince me there's 'Nip in these two pots.

Who is she trying to fool?

I may have been born at night, but I wasn't born last night. All I see is DIRT!

Yech!

Wacky Wednesday

Mom found this page from a Far Side calendar. She thought it was pretty funny, so we decided to share it with you. In case you can't see, the boxes on the floor are marked "DANGER" and the thought bubble above the cat says "I know nothing."

Two-Cat Tuesday

Mom spent Sunday cleaning in this room she calls the studio. There was all kindsa stuff all over the place and she moved a lot to the basement (which she now calls the Pit of Despair) and threw some junk out.

You can see Jasmine and I. Jasmine ALWAYS sits there when Mom is at the computer. I can't ever get on that table. But I like this new spot way better anyway. I can see outside and I can see into the rest of the room and all the way to the picture box room.

Mom says that she is definitely NOT a professional organizer in the making, but she could be a client!

Colors on the Brain

Mom says colors can stick in your head the same way a song gets stuck in your head and plays over and over and over and over...

She says people don't always know they have colors stuck in their heads, but you can tell if you watch the things they do. This is what Mom was working on just before she went to bed the night before last:

She got up early yesterday morning and went food hunting. She bought some stupid pansies. Of ALL the colors of pansies she could have bought, of the yellows and pinks, and whatever colors they have... she bought these:

Funny, huh?

btw... The kitty quilt up top with the greens and purples and teals is going to a Bengal kitty fambly. Won't they look stunningly gorgeous on it?

And Daisy, the answer the question you asked about two weeks ago is... 42.

Still No 'Nip

Mom planted these in dirt today. She says they are Pansies.

Pansies, shmanzies, they aren't 'Nip! I want NIP!

She says "It's coming."

So's Christmas. I want Nip.
