Road Trip, Day Two

Bast! That hotel bed was comfy! I slept great. When the ladies got dressed, we all went down for breakfast on the terrace.

I was hungry!

Then we walked around and looked at all the contestant quilts,

and the special show quilts,

and more show quilts (these were from Egypt).

I found my namesake, a longarm sewing machine named Millie.

And so (to her everlasting delight), did Mom!

Then it was time to hit the road. After driving a couple of hours, we stopped for ice cream.

Finally we crossed into Massachusetts. (Hey Mom, next time, move me to the left a bit...)

 Holy BAST it was a long drive home.

 I am SO GLAD to be home and out of those traveling duds you have NO IDEA!!

Road Trip Day One

So yesterday Mom packed the car, and fixed me a special seat.

We picked up Mim-may and got in the car and drove.

We drove through Ver-mont. I have never been to Ver-mont. Ver-mont is pretty.

Then we drove to Noo York. I got a big welcome in Noo York.

After another couple of hours driving (Noo York is a big state), we got to the hotel.

 We brought our stuff to our room. Whoa. Lookit this nice big bed.

Then we went to the Oncenter, where the big quilt show was being held. I do not know why I am wearing a button that says "I am AQS" when my name is Millie.

The first thing we had to do was find Mom's quilt. Found it!

Then we had to find Julie's quilt.  Found that too!

Then we had to buy show pins for Mom, Julie and Chris. We got to the show late, and Mim-may was tired, so we went back to the hotel to rest before dinner.

Mom ordered a French Martini to drink with dinner. It was quite nice (hic).

Then it was back to the hotel room for an early night, because we have a very big day on Saturday, and we all needed our rest.

More later! I am having fun in Sirra-cuze Noo York.

Road Trip

Yup, Mom, Mim-may and me will be going on a road trip to Syracuse NY. It's what Mom calls a "bump and run" trip, which means we drive all the way over there, stay a little while, and then drive all the way back home.

I'm excited. I'm gonna go visit a new place and see all kinds of cool quilts, get some souvenirs and meet all kinds of fun people.

Woot!

Thoughtful Thursday

Uh oh. Something's up. Mom said something about Sirra-cuse and going to see her quilt, The Black Box, which is pretty funny, considering she already knows what it looks like. It won't be right away, and Mim-may is coming with us.

Road Trip

Mom and I are going to the ocean for the big Holiday weekend. We are visiting one of Mom's quilty friends.  Woo Hoo!

Thursday Catch-Up

Mom is wicked tired. She did the washing machine shuffle yesterday and went food hunting but mostly she lay on the couch watching tennis on TV. Naturally I was close by, purring. Mom didn't get the flashy box out, so I thought I would show you some pictures from our trip.

 We got ice cream and cupcakes in Manhattan Beach.

Yoda relaxing in a cool spot. (It was hot in LA.)

The beans went out to eat real live dead raw fish.  I did not come because I do not like fish.

(Mim-may tripped and fell the first day, scratched her glasses and got a black eye. So in some pictures her face looks funny. Maybe you noticed it. A very good make-up artist made her look beautiful for the wedding day.)

 This flower was in bloom at Mr Karate's place. Isn't it pretty?

On The Road Again

We're finally on our way. By the time you read this, we will be On The Road to Monty's.

I am so excited! Mom is excited too!

Spiffy Saturday

Good morning, everybody.... Hello Monty!

Mom finished the top for the super special Gizzy Quilt we are making for Monty.

We have picked out a terrific fabric for the backing (lots of cats) and Mom has selected fabric for the binding. She'll probably finish the quilt later tonight after she gets through Processing the Month End.

Then tomorrow she will make reservations and buy our tickets to Mary-land. We will be taking the train. Mom and I are very excited.

What's Up Wednesday

I have to tell you, I'm getting pretty fed up with this SSP business. And now this other quilt for somebody Mom doesn't even know. It's enough to make me yowl!

Honestly! Mom's sewing this, and sewing that... All this preparation for the big trip to Mary-land to see Sprout, and nobody's even thinking about My Special Guy! So I have this plan...

Wait a minute... OH MONTY Q! LOOK WHAT I HAVE FOR YOU!!!

OK!

Has he passed out yet? Good, 'cause I kinda want this to be a surprise, so don't nobody tell him. (Yeah, I know this was probably a bit, well... sneaky, but how else am I gonna get him outta the room so I can surprise him?)

I told Mom, in fact, I made it QUITE CLEAR... that she has to put this sewing the letters bit to some better use than a dumb doll quilt. I told Mom she has to make a -very- special Gizzy Quilt for my dear darling Monty Q. Now she's a bit slow on the uptake, so this is as far as I managed to get her to do last night...
I bet you can all guess what's coming next... Millie [heart] Monty Q! And you'd be right! But frankly, I think Skeeter, LC & Ayla's idea of adding a cat (or two) would REALLY make this a spiffy Gizzy Quilt.

So now I gotta go investigate Mom's "stash" of fabrics. I know she's got a lot of black and white, but I dunno how she's gonna get brown tabby cat fabric. Still, though, she's pretty clever when she needs to be.

Now remember... keep it a secret from Monty!

Mancats Monday

You all know that I am not a Mancat. I am a Ladycat. I want to celebrate two Mancats here today on Mancat Monday.

First, Luxor. It's not everycat who would put up with having his home invaded by 22 or 28 cats and a couple of dogs he's never met. He was a complete gentleman and a wonderful host on our road trip to visit him. Lux, for your incredible cool and patience, I salute you!
Next, my sweetheart Monty Q. (I'm biased, so what?) Monty put together a terrific itinerary of stuff to do and visit when we got to his place. He also shared driving responsibilities, and spent a great deal of time entertaining us with his singing. And when I got lonely and homesick, he immediately made arrangements to help get me home. Monty, thanks for being there for me!
I shall always remember this road trip. It was the most fun! I met lots of great friends, ate lots of great food, saw wonderful new places and had a fabulous time. I am eager to get home and rest, but I hope we can all have another road trip again someday.

Last Stop on the Road Trip

We are visiting Tara and Kavan today. They have a lovely yard. I got to watch hummingbirds and climb the tree. We will also visit Miss Peach, who has organized hot air balloon rides for all of us. We also had a terrific visit with DKM & the fluffies... that massage was just what I needed to renew my spirits. That barbeque with Michael, well, I've never had such fabulous food! I'm impressed!

This has been the most incredible week of my life. I have had so much fun with my friends, and seen so many new places, and tried new foods. It has been magical, the I cannot thank my friends enough for their generous hospitality!

But as you all know, I am homesick. My dear Monty Q has organized a train to bring us back home. It is a really fast train. We will put the big red bus on it, and bring all the cats back home. In Florida, we will put the cars on the train, and head back to the cold Northeast. We will spend Monday speeding across the country, and I will be home sometime on Tuesday!

But you know what Monty Q did just for me? He made sure the train had a GIGANTIC wide screen plasma TV so Roxy, Lucky and I could watch The Big Game today between The Guys Named Pat and those horseshoe guys, even though the Guys Named Pat are not Monty's favorite team.

Now that's love!

Homesick

I have been having a lot of fun on this road trip, traveling all around the country visiting friends, eating new foods and seeing the sights. I have enjoyed racing with Sammy, Monty's singing, driving with Dragonheart, visiting San Francisco with Beezer, eating lizard stew with Daisy and watching Lucky and Lux find each other. I really want to see Napa and ride in a hot air balloon.

But I am homesick. I miss my Mom. I miss her scritches. I miss watching her make Gizzy quilts. I miss my own bed. It's kinda noisy on the road trip, and my house is nice and quiet.

After the hot air balloon ride, can we go home now?

Road Trip Travels thru Texas

You think this is a BIG bus? It looks big. But when you put 22 (and more) cats, two dogs, buckets of temptations, a few litter boxes, some cushions, blankies and spiffy clothes, well, it gets a little crowded. So once again we are a caravan on our way across Texcats to visit Luxor.

To his credit, he is getting ready. I don't know how ready he can be. We've been to Daytona and Miles drove the bus around the racetrack. We've had lizard stew at Daisy's. We even had roadkill armadillo by Angus' place. What a unique experience! You gotta read about THAT!

Check out this picture of the inside of our pimped-out bus. I am wondering who is playing thundering herd of elephants upstairs on the double decker. Monty is taking a little breather from treating us to his version of La Dona est Mobile. (It doesn't sound like Pavarotti's version.)

We're having lunch in Galveston, at Missy & KC's. Bar-B-Q & a nice buffet (can a buffet be naughty?)

Oh, I forgot to mention the LOVELY welcome Daisy gave us, and we had a great sightseeing trip courtesy of Moe & Mindy. You should check out the pictures!

After the highly anticipated meeting of Lucky and Luxor, we will be continuing on the the Pacific, so Dragonheart (and the rest of us) can see the Pacific Ocean and partake of the sights there. Beezer, Daisy Mae Maus and Sophia and the buns have terrific plans for us. I can't wait.

We will meet up with Kimo & Sabi (hope we don't have any trouble with the earthquake).

Along the way, Poppy Q, Parker, Derby, Samantha & Tigger, Mr Chen & Ollie, China, Willow, Sanjee and others have joined us.

We are having SO MUCH FUN! (And if you are on the bus and I forgot to mention you, I am so sorry.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though we are having a great time, we did all stop our silliness and have a moment of silence for dear Mia, who crossed the Rainbow Bridger last night.
We are so sorry to lose her.
Notes from the Road Trip!
Oh my goodness, what an exciting day! I am having so much fun with all my pals! We are on our way to meet Daisy and Samantha and Tigger in Florida. We will be picking up Derby on our way through on our way to visit Luxor at home in New Mexico.
We've had the most interesting things to eat at the Meezers, and we all got to run around playing thundering herd of elephants, and during the chinese fire drill at that intersection in Emporia Virginia.
I am sitting in the front seat, Monty Q is driving and howling at the moon (he calls it singing). Lucky is beside me, maps firmly in paw. She is keeping us on a tight leash schedule.
I'm having more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Wait a minute, what's different about a barrel of monkeys? We have two cars full of cats and dogs. I think we'll need another vehicle by the time we leave Daisy's, after all, cats need to nap during the day and it's getting a little crowded.
Good thing I brought a portable litter box, because Miles is so excitable.
Dragonheart is a real sweetie, and a great conversationalist. He can talk to anycat or dog about anything. There is never a lull in conversation when he's around.
I can't wait to get to Daisy's. She's got a very special meal planned for us. I hope we get to see an alligator.
It looks like our trip will take us to the Pacific Ocean, so we will get to see Beezer and Daisy Mae Maus, maybe even Sophia and the buns, Fiona and Orlando.
Cheysuli, sure, bring Eric and Flynn and meet us at Lux's! That would be great! We expect to arrive there after dinner on Wednesday, just in time for some trick or treating!
Oh, I gotta go, I love Monty, but the guy just can't carry a tune...
On the Road to New Mexico
Lucky, Roxy, Moe & Mindy, Dragonheart, Georgia and Tilly and I are on the way to New York to pick up Sammy and Miles for our road trip to New Mexico to visit Lux.
I had picked up Dragonheart at the airport earlier this evening. It was nice to finally meet him. He is -such- a gentlecat. Everybody likes him already!
Since Mom is such a good cook, I convinced her to make some great road food for us. Mom has made some cat treats and some dog treats. (Mom rocks.) She's set up water bowls for us, and even a portable litter box in the back. We've all got harnesses, so we are driving safely.
Of course, we have been listening to the Red Sox game. WE WON THE WORLD SERIES! How exciting!
This is exhausting! I need a nap!
So-So Saturday
It's raining out, and the wind has blown a lot of leaves off the trees. Here is the maple tree in our back yard two weeks ago:
and here it is right now:
It hardly has any leaves left and we can see the neighbor's house.
I went to Fat Eric's birthday party last night and met a lot of you. I met the Crew and Ruis for the first time; saw many other friends, and had lots of fun. Everycat seemed to think I should convince Mom to get me a Mite as a companion. I dunno about that. I like being Top Cat.
Mom's gotta go day hunting today. Something about "Month End Processing." She says she doesn't mind as much when it's a crappy day outside. When she comes back she is going to finish this quilt for some lady cats in Kansas:
Oh and, I'll be going on a Road Trip with Lucky, Monty Q, Daisy, the Meezers, and a few others. We're going out to see Lux. You have to go see Roxy's blog to get the whole story. It's gonna be a really interesting weekend!
And of course, I'll be rooting for the Red Sox tonight!
Maybe it won't be a so-so Saturday after all!
