This is Nin. Until yesterday, he was the Top Cat in New Hampster. He lived at the top of Mount Washington, the highest mountain in New Hampshire, and the home of the world's worst weather.
He was the resident Cat. His job was to make the summit feel like home for the beans who worked up there. You can see pictures here. He also chased mice.
Yesterday, Nin retired. He's a geezer cat, over 17 years old. He is retiring so he'll be closer to the v-e-t in case of emergencies. See, in the winter, you can't get up and down to the summit whenever you want. You can read all about Nin's retirement here.
The staff at the Mount Washington Observatory are working with a local shelter to find a replacement for Nin. One of the requirements is the good sense to come inside out of the snow.
I hope Nin has as great a life as a retired cat as he did working up at the summit of Mount Washington. I'm sure we'll hear when a new cat takes over.

Oh, goodness ... There was a commercial for workers at Mount Washington Observatory (an' how it has the nation's worst weather) ... I can't remember the product being advertised.
Good luck to Nin an' "happy retirement" ...

Nin looks as though he was a great asset to the people on the mountain. It's nice that he gets to retire and have a home with people he knows. I hope he is happy and comfy there!
Hey Millie. My mom told me to stop by and say hi! You probably remember my older sister Ayla. Well, I've taken up the reins as the blogging cat of the household so please stop by my blog!
"the good sense to come inside out of the snow" well, dat leaves Zippy out...
We hope that Nin has a very happy retirement! He definately had a very important job.

Do you want the job Millie?
I remember when I was a little bean in Vermont and we'd watch the weather report from the top of Mt. Washington. Very often the challenged man they had reading the weather could barely get what he was talking about said because there was a cat smooching up to him while he was on camera. It was probably Nin's predecessor, as it was a few more than 17 years ago. I'm glad they've had a cat up there. Every bean needs at least one cat!
That was a wonderful story! Thanks!!
