Yesterday I showed you how Mom can do one quilt from start to finish without stopping. I said that isn't how she usually does it. So today I will show you the Facts. This is how it really happens here. (you can click the pictures to biggify)
A lot of you said she was really fast. She says she's made so many quilts she's "got it down to a science."
Mom got started at 4 o'clock. She pinned pieces for 5 quilts:
See. Five quilts, five different colors. (Mine is the pink one ) Now she's gonna sew them.
Here she has sewn all the pieces together into blocks and arranged them by quilt. She takes a picture of each design so she can sew it together the way she wants it to look.
She presses all the seams to one side. Now she has to lay them out and sew them into rows. How does she know which row is which?
Simple. On the right side of each row, she puts one pin on the edge for the first row, two pins for the second row, three pins for the third, and four pins for the fourth.
OK, now you get it. You can work out the rest on your own.
Oops. Flash reflection. Time for dinner, anyways.
...
She's ba--ack!
I'm getting bored...
Finally! My quilt top is finished. Mom... where are you going? What do you mean you're going to bed? Aren't you gonna finish my quilt? Mom? Mom?
Sheesh! Oh well, I guess she'll finish another time.
(All these quilts but mine have since been finished and are flying around on their way to their cats.)

Wow, she's really busy! I'm sure she'll finish your quilt soon.
My mom can't sew (or anything) so she says she's in awe. Such pretty quilts!

Poor Millie, you should have gotten the FIRST quilt!
She will make one for Jasmine. She is working out the colors in her head. I think she has an idea. Don't worry, you'll all get to see it!
Millie, your Mum is so very clever, and you are good at telling us all about the quilts. I sleep on mine every day and some of the night. I love it.
your human is obviously immensley talented. My human couldn't sew a button let alone a quilt! I am really very impressed!
That is so neat Millie. Your mom is very talented and she makes beautiful quilts. Maybe she will finish yours tomorrow. Have a nice weekend.

Mom does similar things when she's making chandelier earrings for her senior girls at Prom time. She says that it's a timesaver to set things up neatly first so that things can be assembled "assembly line" style.
Those Gizzy Quilts are gorgeous. I use ours efurry day for naps! It's furry popular here!
