Rubylocks & Little Miss

It turns out that Rubylock's hair isn't red any more. But who cares when she is as pretty as she is? Mr Karate took this picture of her and Little Miss and the quilt Mom made for them at the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Yeah, I'm in love.

My House

Mom's been working out in the front garden. The front of the house faces East and gets the morning sun. She's planted lots of pretty flowers out there.

She has hot pink geraniums in boxes on either side of the driveway, and boxes of purple waving petunias on the side near the lamppost. She has a couple of pots of some fancy stuff (Ipomoea, Zinnia, Salvia, Lobularia and Verbena) that love the sun. She put two out front and put another one so she could see it from the kitchen window. She had one last year and the hummingbirds loved it.

She also put a big planter in front of the "crocodile rock" that has a Canna and something called a Rio and some other pretty white flower.

I snoopervised from the front porch. The front of the house faces East and gets the morning sun.

This is a Columbine in the shade garden on the North side of the house. Mom assures me she did not plant it this close to the house, but I cannot see it so I can't tell you for sure if she is right or just imagining things.

I can't see this bleeding heart from any window, but I think it's very pretty. Mom has been working hard to get this plant to grow, and finally it is doing it's thing after she moved something else to give this guy more space.

We are all set to watch the Tennis in Paris at Roland Garros.

Not Very Wordy Wednesday

Mom got some new fabric for the back of a quilt. It came out of the drying monster and Mom put it on her work table. I'm pretty sure she said I should stay off.

As if.

Garden Time

Mom's been playing in the dirt again. Yesterday she got up and went to the garden stores. She came back with dirt and mulch, and lots and lots of plants. This morning she got up and planted the herbs in the herb garden while a Dutch Baby baked in the oven (she promised me it wasn't a real baby). She planted three parsley plants, three Basil, more chives, oregano, thyme, and rosemary. There was a sage plant and a parsley plant that came back from last year. There are also some garlic chives in there somewhere, and Mom has a Cilantro plant she will put in a pot so it can live in the shade. Mom says it will go to seed too fast if she keeps it in the sun with the other herbs.

Me? I'm on the front porch; where else do you think I'd be?

Millie Doing Quality Testing

You know, the work never ends around here. If I'm not watching over my domain from one of the two kitty condos, it's catching up on my ZZZZ's or performing Quality Assurance checks on Mom's quilts.

Not only did I check this quilt for sewing mistakes, but I checked it for softness, warmth and cuddle-ability. Yes, that is a word, and it is an extremely important quality in a quilt. This quilt passed with flying colors.

Which is funny, considering...

Oh crap. Mom won't let me tell you.

Yet.

Heh.

Wordy Wednesday

It is finally warm enough for Mom to leave the window to the front porch open so I can come and go as I please. In fact, Mom had to stick her arm through the window just to take this picture of me.

Millie Finds a Boo Boo

Yup, I did. Mom was sewing this quilt together and didn't notice she made a mistake. But I saw it and went to sit right next to it so she would see. It took a while. I had to be very persistent, but she finally saw the mistake and fixed it.

I'm telling you, my job as quilt QA inspector never ends.

I know I haven't been blogging much lately, but I am fine. I have been napping behind the couch and Mom hasn't been able to get many pictures. As the weather warms up and I spend more time on the front porch, that will change, but the weather has been wet and cool lately so I have been staying inside.

Millie Monday

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging lately. Mom has been busy, but I've just been napping. I know, I've been very lazy, but I guess I'm just getting slower now that I am a senior cat.
