Thursday Thoughts

Mom wasn't exactly thrilled about scraping an inch of snow off the windshield of her car before she went day hunting yesterday.

When Mom got home from day-hunting last night, the ice on the bush outside was shimmering in the sun. Which is saying something because it was above freezing for most of the day. But it was very windy, so it felt a lot colder.

I have been hiding out in my tent, on the cushy warm fleece pillow.

Several cats have commented they might have had a chance at winning the When When Contest with this late bout of snow, but no. The rules of the When When Contest clearly state that the contest is over when Mom and I look out the window in the morning and don't see any snow anywhere. If snow falls AFTER that day, then oh well, it's New England weather for you.  Sorry Sparkle.

Sunny Saturday

This looks great! Mom and I both love the sunny day, the blue sky and the warm temperatures. I hope the snow melts FAST. Well, actually, I am more interested in the ICE melting from the driveway and the parking lot out back.

Mom fell again today. She took one step out the door and slipped and fell on the black ice. She was not a happy camper. She did not think the ground was covered with ice. Mom got up, came back inside and got some of the ice-melt pellets and spread it out.  Then she went out food hunting, and now she is back home. She says her butt hurts, and she's going to do some sewing. She has some ideas for a wedding quilt, but she hasn't shared them with me.

I am napping.

Easy Like Sunday

I am napping in the sun.

We had some very interesting weather yesterday. The weatherguys said it was supposed to get warm, then rain, but that didn't happen. It stayed cold, and it rained.

Then it got warm (55F) and it got really foggy.

This is what it looks like this morning. It's a gorgeous day, sunny and 45F!
(Mom took this pictures through the window, btw)

See that ice at the end of the driveway?  Mom really wants that to go away. She fell on the ice on Friday. It was covered with a dusting of snow so she couldn't see it.

Enjoy your day!

Got Ice? Got Electricity? Got Lucky!

In New Hampster yesterday we had rain, then it got so cold everything froze. This is the bush out front.

This might look pretty, but it is Very Very BAD! The tree branches get so heavy, they drag the tree right over. See...This happened all over the state yesterday. The trees fell over onto electrical wires, crashed into cars, and even went through the roof of a house. The toppled trees blocked roads making getting around very hard. Many schools were closed. Over one million houses and businesses lost power. Most of those had no heat. And the local grocery store was open, but had no milk, no meat and no "perishables." The local Mall closed for the day.

What's really bad is that many of the homes without electricity won't get it restored soon and it is supposed to be Really Really Cold the next couple of days.

Mom and I were very lucky. When we woke up yesterday we had power, and heat.
