My 13th Gotcha-versary!

Thirteen years ago today, Mom's life changed. She didn't KNOW her life had changed. She just thought she was adopting a cat, but if she HADN'T adopted me, nobody would know about her. I got her to blogging, and later, making quilts, and then blogging about quilts.

Mom thinks living with a tame feral cat is interesting. I won't come when she calls me, and she never knows where she will find me. There are all kinds of places in the house where I can nap, and while I have my favorites, there are some I use maybe once in two or three years. Rarely do I nap in such an obvious place as the couch (and the only reason I was there was because Mom was sitting next to me.)

So where am I now? Let's see. You are all accustomed to seeing the couch as in the top photo, but there is a table with a lamp in the corner that you rarely ever see.

The table isn't as deep as the couch, so it sits forward from the wall.

 See me?

Mom stuck a basket back there when we moved in, almost five years ago, partly because she didn't know where else to put it.

Clearly I have found the right spot. And I don't mean the basket in the corner.

No Bein is ever fully prepared for a cat. They think "pets" and they think of slobberring big woofies or small yappy ones. And they sort of unnerstand that because they are usually pack animals themselves.

We're differnt. We sneak into a Beings life slowly and quietly, kittenly, adultly. Sometimes stand-offishly but suddenly laply. They never know what to expect.

They wake up in the middle of the night and we are curled up next to them, but wait a minute and we arent there. Then we are again later and they discover they have slept well with us purring nearby...

Happy gotcha day, Millie! It's true, some cats come into a human's life and change it dramatically. That happened with Sparkle and my human, and even more now with her and me. I'm glad your human found such an awesome journey with and through you.

Wow. 13 years. I followed Millie from Day 1 when she was rescued and you gave her her furever home. I still have all the Gizzy quilts, and the PTU quilts, and a laptop keyboard quilt, all made by you and QA'd by Gizzy himself, for our three kitties. All three of our furbabies are now gone. We lost two, in two months, in 2017 and our last girl just this last June. They were all 16 - 16.5 years old when they passed on. But I still have all of their quilts and I will always know which color, which design, went with each baby kitty.

Happy Gotcha Day Millie!

You've come a long way from the little kitten that swore she would never let her Mom or any other human touch her. It's hard to believe that was 13 years ago already.

Indeed you did find the right spot, Millie - though the basket is pretty nifty, too.
