If you don't do anything else today, please do this. Go to Google, and watch today's Google Doodle animation. It celebrates Lotte Reiniger, a German filmmaker who pioneered silhouette films.
It is so totally cool and beautiful. After you're done watching (and if you're anything like Mom, wiping the tears out of your eyes...) then click the link that says "Watch how today's doodle was made."
If you miss this today, you can go to: http://www.google.com/doodles to see it. And depending on where you live, you might not see this one. Google has different doodles for different countries. For example, Mom and I did not see Suzanne Leglen's doodle on May 24 because we do not live in France.

Thanks for the links - we enjoyed the two little movies. We had never heard of the artist, but wasn't she a clever lady? And so patient.

Thank you, Lynne! That was beautiful.
I watched the original google doodle but not the behind the scenes until your reminder. Thanks! Reminds me of the way we did a clay animation movie in high school - very tedious but great results.
Thanks for posting about the google tribute to Lotte. I'd never heard of her which is sad because her work is awesome. The tribute is so cool and so is the how it's made piece :)
thanx to your mom Millie for this post; watched the clip and it is amazing, and the work Lotte produced is as well. I've just read about her over at Wikipedia; and how cool that her second film was ~~~~~ Doctor Doolittle ♥♥♥
