It was before my time, but Mom says it was a really tough day to witness. There is a live webcam of the site here. I don't understand why Mom looks at it like, every five minutes.
This is one of those days when I'm really glad I'm a cat, and yet at the same time, I feel sad because I'm only a cat.

There's no "only" about it, Millie. Being a cat is a noble, honourable and important undertaking. You do it particularly well.

You bring joy to your corner of the world and to the lives of others through your blog.
Cats like you have comforted countless humans during sadnesses like 9/11 ... please be glad you are a cat and give your mom some extra purrs today...
Being "only" a cat means that you can help your mom through the sadness without having to try to wrap your head around how anyone could do this.
In fact, only humans could think up something so horrible to do to each other.
I wish I was a cat.
We remember, and hope for a better future. Mommy agrees about being a Cat--she says at least our spats are brief, to the point, and over something important.
We will remember!
We will always remember.

My human had special memories of the World Trade Center, so 9/11 was awful for her on a personal level, plus everything else, even though she did not actually know anyone who died. Today is a hard day for her.

Millie, we think that kitties and woofies are what helped many people get through this ;)

millie ... there's no such thing as "only". At least cats don't do bad things ... they help folk recover. Purrs.
