You have certainly given me a lot to think about. For those of you not paying attention... yesterday I admitted I was a bit hard on my Mom, but it was because I didn't want her to think she had me wrapped around her little finger. Megan in Oz, one of my regular readers, left this comment...
PS. Millie - thanks for your note. I feel as if I'm famous - I've had my name included in one of your blog postings!
I understand the whole "cat as aloof goddess-like creature" facade, but to be brutally honest, I don't think it suits you. I think you're a much warmer, loving cat than that.
Another option might be to present yourself to your mom and the world as one of the cleverest cats on the planet: one who was born "in the gutter" (almost literally, I guess), but who had the determination and smarts to elevate themselves to their present very happy circumstances by choosing - from all the possible moms around - your mom. As you might say: "Wowza!"
You have scored yourself a wonderful forever home with a doting mom and every comfort that you could possibly want.
If you went with this approach, then you could acknowledge your mom by boasting to the rest of us about every new wonderful thing she did for you, which, in turn, would add to your cleverness in finding her.
What do you think?

Well!
I've learned a lot since I came to live here. Gizzy (my bestest pal, who with my big sis Jasmine is now waiting at the Bridge) told me if I was smart I would continue to learn new things. I am very fortunate to have friends in the blogosphere who help keep me on my toes, (so to speak.)
I've given it a lot of thought, and Megan, you're right.
I did start out in the gutter, I certainly have scored a wonderful forever home, and I do have every comfort a cat could want. My Mom is pretty awesome. She's smart, she's talented, I've got her wrapped around my paw, and she's all mine.
Thank you Megan.

We have always thought your Mom was awesome just like you.
Millie! Remember: You are Cat! Gratitude does not become us. The hoominz were placed here on the planet to be our servants, and they (and we) should never forget it!
That said, I will admit you found yourself a good one and it doesn't hurt to be appreciative once in awhile.
Well, we're not so sure about "the cleverness in finding you" part since you had to get hit by a car to do it.
But we've known you since Malcolm rescued you so we know you're grateful, but we like your sassyness too! It's all a part of being a cat!
Yeah, what Scooby, Shaggy and Scout said. Just letting dem be in our pawsome pressens should be enuff fur dem, wif da okashunal pet and some skritchin', all on our skedjool of course!
You're pretty lucky to have such an amazing mommy! And I think that it's perfectly alright to be a little aloof. You ARE the queen, after all!
Millie - I'm quite overwhelmed. Not only have I been mentioned in one of your blog postings, I've now scored a headline and had one of my (nearly-always-wordy) comments quoted. I'm going to float on air for the rest of the week. Thank you!
I note that many of your pusscat pals are encouraging you to maintain a degree of aloofness and not become tooooo cosy and grateful.
Because you're a pusscat, I understand that you do need to maintain your dignity and goddess-like aura, which may well look like aloofness to humans. My suggestion was not about abandoning those innate characteristics of all pusscats, so much as suggesting that you lacked some credibility when you wrote things that are hard on your mom. That is, you come across in your blog as a fun-loving, interesting, and kind pusscat - and when you're hard on your mom, somehow it seems a bit forced. I wondered whether you were trying to disguise the fact that you know that you're on a very good thing and were really only play acting the "treat 'em mean and keep 'em keen" stuff.
I thought if you adopted a perspective of "I'm such a clever pusscat because I've found myself a mom who rocks and who is wrapped around my paw", you wouldn't need to pretend to be tough on your mom from time to time.
Having said all of that, I realised after I'd written my comment that it was terribly arrogant of me to be making suggestions to you about how you write your blog, so I do apologise.
Thanks again for responding so grandly and in such good spirit.

PS. Millie - sorry, I also meant to comment on another superb photograph on your blog today. I'm thinking that it might be suitable for say "June" in the Mille 2011 calendar. A great action and tummy shot all rolled in to one. Sensational.

Millie, you are a very lucky cat. Not every cat I know is as lucky as you are. It must be because your Mom is so special. I agree with Megan you need to be totally loving and giving. Your Mom is that way with you. Love, your Mim-may, Jeanne
A cat is a cat is a cat. They are who they are. Gotta love them for that.

Millie we are all happy to have our mum's wrapped around our paws. But we have to keep them on their toes at all times! We are all lucky in our forever homes.
