Services for Violette

I'm going to let Mom take over today. She wants to tell you all about yesterday.

Violette meant so much to all of us. She brought joy to her family, and united many of us as friends, changing our lives forever. Her untimely death affected us all. The Cat Blogosphere came together as never before, allowing me to attend her funeral and provide comfort for her family. For that you all have my everlasting thanks.

The CB sent this lovely bouquet of flowers:
I worked all day Friday assembling the fabric squares into this quilt. Violette was laid to rest wrapped it, representing the love we all felt for her. The service was very moving. Everybody cried. Violette's casket was covered in the quilt I made for her during the funeral, an image I will never forget, and an honor which left me truly humbled.

The CB's presence was definitely felt yesterday. I know I could feel them there. I had dream of baby Violette, in heaven, surrounded by our kitties who have passed. They were all purring and giving her smooches. It was as if they were saying "our mommies and daddies loved you, so we love you too".

Thank you for allowing all of us to be there in spirit and for providing such a tangable way for us to show our love to her and her family. I think I am doing a very poor job expressing how I feel but thank you Mom Lynne.

The quilt is very beautiful. Thank you for working so hard to make sure that Sprout could be wrapped in all our love for her final journey. A picture came to my mind, too. I saw Violette as a cherub flying above a herd of cats at the Rainbow Bridge, laughing and giggling while the cats played Thundering Herd of Elephants.
