Mom got an update about Monty Q's Babybean:
Babybean got burned when she pulled a bowl of soup off the counter onto herself while Dadbean had stepped away. Mombean was at a meeting 40 miles away and made it home in 14 minutes. Dadbean got her in the big tub to rinse her off with cool water. Mombean called the ambulance. They arrived 4 minutes later, and the medivac was waiting for them.
Babybean will be in the hospital at least another day because her chest burns started weeping a lot. The good news is she’s eating like Fat Eric and the swelling is going down around her eyes. She can open them and the eye doctor doesn’t see any damage to them. She’s walking around and likes to peek in at the nurse’s station.
Mombean has a question. She will have to wash Babybean’s face three times a day and they want her to soak her cheek before washing it. Terrycloth feels like sandpaper to her right now. Has anybody got any suggestions for something Mombean could use instead? Something soft, washable and easier than towels?
Mom says Mombean has read all the comments and really appreciates all the positive thoughts and prayers. Her eyes were leaking as she read them.

PS Mom doesn't know exactly how old Babybean is. She thinks between one and two.

She might want to check out microfiber wash cloths. They are very soft and easy to wash. Another option is a chenille cloth. You can find these a spa stores like bed bath and beyond or the body shop.
Poor BabyBean. My mom seconds DK's suggestion of microfibre.
My humans and I are keeping BabyBean in our prayers and sending healing purrs her way.
So glad to hear she's ok and doing good! To wash her face, what about a men's undershirt, cut into washcloth sized pieces? Or even an infant wash cloth. Both are very soft, cheap and easily accesible!

I was going to suggest microfiber cloths too. they are very soft. Maybe a baby store would have very soft infant fiber cloths.
All we can suggest is a piece of an old (white) t-shirt.

The only soft thing Mom can think of right now is a cotton diaper. She used those on her BabyBeans, but that was about forty years ago! They are very soft.

Microfiber or chamois. Check the automotive section for chamois. Microfiber cloths will probably be in both auto and household cleansers.
40 miles in 14 minutes? Holy frijole.... MomBean should be driving stock cars!

Old Navy carries VERY soft little t-shirts in the men's and baby's departments. Perhaps a soft white tee would feel better. :-(
Also, the paper blankets (not the sheets) some hospitals use are very soft (and disposable!).

Yup, Microfibre, it's soft, durable and washes very well coming back soft everytime. Poor baby, she was just curious and gots hurted. We'z still sending healing purrs fur baby bean. And man, dat mom can drive!
Hi - I left a comment on Monty's blog also, but when you talk to them again, please let them know I am thinking about them - I was also going to suggest flannel, or a piece of fleece might work. She probably has some scraps left over from when she makes the cat beds - and I think that if it was washed well first and then hemmed, it would work really well. I hope you are also doing well.

Clyde and I are very glad to hear that babybean is doing better. I think that tshirts would work very well or even just a hand with nothing else.
We will keep purring for babybean and all the family.
You might want to get a recommendation from the hospital, nurses or doctors, on the washcloth issue. Something soft, but also something that won't shed lint to stick on the skin for now.

We agree with the suggestions of using a t-shirt scrap or maybe cutting up a sheet into pieces an' using that.

Praying for BaybBean and the ParentBeans. I agree with the baby wascloth idea. Flannel recieving blankets could also be used. Daddy Bean's cut-up Tees may be the best thing, as these would also let BabyBean feel psychologically closer to her daddy while being washed, almost like a handhold or a hug.
Its amazing how fast something like that can happen, whether a babybean or a kitten! I've been so worried, thanks for the update.
