Rainy Sunday

We're getting rain today, and Mom's cleaning up. She has to go back to her regular day hunting tomorrow after spending a week home with us. She's already washed a lot of pots and pans and made a batch of granola. Now she's got something in the crooked pot that's beginning to smell nice. I dunno if we are going to be able to get any.

She had lamb chops last night and Gizzy had a few bites. I have new crunchies. Mom says it's grown up food since I am not a kitten anymore. (I had been eating Gizzy and Jasmine's geezer cat crunchies when my own bowl was empty. Heh.) Mom's got a mountain of laundry to fold. Jasmine and I have been taking turns napping in it. I'm pretty sure she's gonna get the Rug Sucking Monster out, so I'm paying real close attention. I hate that thing.

Gizzy's napping, of course. Mom's not gonna work in the sewing room today. She's got quite a few kitty quilts designed and will be sewing tops again tomorrow. Since she's made so many kitty quilts (more than I can count, that's for sure) she's got a system. She puts pieces all over the floor, until she gets it the way she likes it. You 've seen them, they look like this:

She takes a picture, and emails it to the kitty who ordered it. If the kitty doesn't think it's quite right, she makes changes, takes another picture, and emails it back. This is not uncommon. We want every kitty to be really happy with their quilt. When it is just right, she prints it out. Then she puts the printed picture, and all the pieces for the quilt in a plastic envelope. She writes the kitty's name on it, and sets it aside. She will do this for several quilts, using the pieces she has in her stash, and let me tell you, it is QUITE a stash. There are quilts for which fabric is on order, or fabric she has to wash, or iron or cut. But the kitty quilts get made first-come first serve and she just works her way down "The List." The quilt above, by the way, is spoken for.

So Mom has a pile of quilts to make, as you can see from the picture below. This way the quilt pieces don't get dirty or messed up (by you-know-who), and the sewing room is kept nice and neat.

And that's how I know Mom is gonna drag the rug-sucking monster all over the floor.

You can see another trans-oceanic flying Gizzy quilt here. It flew all the way to Hawaii.

The quilt with the rainbow squiggles is really gorgeous. Some lucky kitty is going to be really happy. Enjoy your relaxation time until the Sucking Monster comes out.

Your Mom has a really good system for getting the quilts ready and just right. That is very smart!

You are getting to be a big girl now to eat grown up cat food instead of kitten foods!

Wowie, what a beautiful quilt! Makes me wanna curl up on it and take a nap. It's cold and rainy here, too -- a great day to sleep 'n' snuggle.

Kittyhugs and purrs from MaoMao!

Wow, your Mom is very organized.
Our apartment is always a mess and full of Mom's papers everywhere. She says she is organized in her head. But we know that is just an excuse for leaving stuff everywhere.

Millie, your Mom is extremely talented, and also very organized! We are having a very dreary, rainy day here as well. We also want to let you know that all of you are in our thoughts. We are sending lots of loving, healing, and comforting purrs to Gizzy. We can tell that he is such a special kitty.

My mum has to go back to work tomorrow too, teaching the little monsters, after her Easter holiday. Sigh. That means I have to stay in the house all day instead of being allowed to lie in the sunshine on the patio. We will post pics of my Gizzy quilt soon. More purrs to Gizzy.

Your mom has a great system. :) And she has a great eye for colours and patterns. :) Looking forward to having mine arrive! The past two weeks have been holidays here in Germany, so the German mail system is really slow at the moment. We ordered stuff from here in Germany two weeks ago, and it still hasn't arrived!
