Wordy Wednesday

Obviously, I know how to live. I eat, wash, play and nap whenever I want. Mom decided to follow my lead today.

She slept late. She did the day hunting called "Year End Processing" the day before yesterday, getting home very very late - 10:30 PM. So she got to sleep in yesterday. And sleep she did. She didn't even get up before 8 AM.

She never got dressed.

She ate what she wanted, when she wanted. I think she even had tortilla chips and hot chocolate for breakfast. She ate the tortilla chips right out of the great big bag.

She watched the Roses parade. I don't know why they called it that, I didn't see any marching roses.

She didn't take the Christymas tree down, which is what she usually does on New Year's Day.

She ironed fabric and cut strips. She then paired up strips. Did she work on any of the quilts she has to make this month? Nope. She planned about a half dozen because she liked the colors she had and wanted to make them.

She said today was HER day and she wasn't gonna do anything she didn't want to do. Like the dishes. She left them dirty all over the place.

Mom said she didn't do anything because this is what it did all day yesterday:

It snowed -all day long- (Can it snow short?)

She did, however, do one constructive thing. She made ME a Gizzy quilt from the wonderful cat fabric that Kimo & Sabi sent her for Christymas.

Here is the front:
And here is the back:
She only used cat fabrics. She used some cat fabrics she already had, like the pink ones (in Lilly Lu's quilt) and some black and white cats from Beau's quilt.

You can click the pictures to biggify.

She says TODAY she has to go back to the straight and narrow.

Once again, I must say how glad I am to be a cat.

LOL. Our Mom also had a day like that today, cause she has to go back to work tomorrow. She is very sad about that. We hope our Mom enjoyed her day.

Lynne,
Sounds like a good day to just do things for yourself. My mum has done more or less the same for the past two days, except it has been hot and sunny here. She has just done paintings, the washing and a bit of housework. Hoorah!!!

My beans all laid around the house yesterday too! It must be some kind of bean tradition to be lazy on New Year's Day. I really like your kitty quilt, it is very pretty.

Millie, do you mean to say your Mom was naked all day?!?

Verrrry cute quilt. The back fabric looks like the cat from a kids' book, I think it's called Bad Kitty.

Mom has a Portuguese friend, and she said that there is an old Portuguese wives tale that says that whatever you do on New Years Day is what you will have to do every day for the next year, so perhaps it was best that your mom took care of herself.

We like the gizzy quilt - we will have pictures up soon on our blog of the one we got from you a long time ago.

That sounds like a great day! I'm glad your mommy took a day for herself (and you of course!) I like Camie's friend's theory. I'd love my mommy to spend everyday like they spent Jan. 1st!

You have such a great quilt! Youll look very pretty on it. Happy New Year!!

Mom beans need down time too. So a day in the PJ's is OK.

So your mom takes herself for a cat and lives like her for one day, lol ! Very good idea. The quilt looks beautiful, did you already nap on it ?

Millie:
It's good that your momma took a day for herself. Havin' cocoa an' tortilla chips for breakfast once in awhile is a good thing.

Your Gizzy is GORGEOUS. All of those neat-o cat fabrics look terrific together ... an' your quilt is furry unique.
