Thundering Thursday

Mom doesn't get out of bed in the morning when her squawkbox starts squawking. So I help.

I play Thundering Herd of Elephants. I run from the Sewing Room, through the Dining Room, into Mom's Bedroom and up onto this desk, then I turn around and run back to where I started. I do this two or three times.

I always pause for a moment on the desk to make sure she knows it's me. And I make as much noise as I can. When she reaches over and hits the squawkbox to stop it from squawking, I know she is awake, so then I jump onto her bed and approach her quietly. I let out a couple of tiny little mews, but I don't let her pet me. After all, the idea is to get her UP, so she can give me some stinky goodness!

If she still doesn't get up, I go over and scratch the wing chair. This always makes her shoot right out of bed. Of course, by the time she is upright, I have thundered back to the sewing room!

Then I go back into the bedroom and MEOW for all I am worth. She puts on her slippers and her bathrobe, but I don't stop MEOWING until she has made it to the kitchen and has put down a nice bowl of fresh stinky goodness for me.

Heh!

  3. Millie,
I have thought for some time that your mom and I are long lost sisters as we are a lot alike. Now I am convinced that you and Rusty are soul mates, at least in the furry alarm clock department and your mutual affection for stinky goodness. Rest up for tomorrow morning.
    Love,

I just jump on the bed and touch her nose with my paw! That usually works...

  10. Barney is just starting to learn what the squawkbox means in our house - so I am going to keep him from reading this to get any bad ideas - but it is very funny!

  14. Mum is pretty good about getting out of the sleepy spot when the sqauking box goes off. But there is a pattern here, and when I expect it to go off and it doesn't, then I try to wake her up.

  16. Impressive technique, Millie! Panda Bear's wake up routine involves kneading Mom's bladder region. Works every time!
