Wordy Wednesday

These strips represent bindings for one, two... fourteen quilts. Five (not telling you which five) have already been sewn up onto quilts and are in the process of flying out to their new homes.

Mom's kinda PO'd at the PO. She has a laser printer. It's a lot more economical than a color inkjet printer, since she only replaces the toner cartridge about every other year or so, but when she finally runs out, it's pricey (like $65.00) to replace. So she has been printing the USPS labels at her day hunting gig.

Except last week there was a printer problem and one of her labels didn't print. Finally she got it to print, and sent the package off. Now the USPS says she owes money for that label. Except, of course, she already paid for it. So they won't let her print any others until she pays for the label she didn't print (or use.)

So she called them today and after spending some time on "ignore" she got a real person who told her that to fix it she would have to pay for the label, and they would issue a credit. Get this, the credit will take almost 2 weeks to appear on her magic plastic card account! Mom is not best pleased.

The toner cartridge is on order.

In other news, I spent an entire -hour- sitting next to her in the comfy green recliner last night, while we watched Nova. I let her know I wanted attention by sitting on the table, directly in front of her while she ate her dinner (a disgusting mess of grape tomatoes, onions, cauliflower, and green rabbit junk (sorry Fiona) on a turkey cutlet). What did I say to her?

"Meow."

What else would I say?

  5. We are sorry to hear that the Post Office is being troublesome. Bureaucracies seem to have lots of strange ways of doing things.

Those are all very pretty bindings for different quilts! :)

Mom has had issues with the PO too. Sometimes they leave the door to our mailbox open and if it rains the mail gets all wet!

The quilt strips are very pretty. Every cat who gets a Gizzy is very lucky! We love ours!

  7. I want my mom to get me a Gizzy quilt but she said that because of her foot, she can't teach extra classes this semester which means "money will be tight." I don't know what that means except that I'll have to wait until the summer to get a quilt. Bah.

Oh and Mom swears at the PO all the time.

  8. Your poor mom! I am going to send some extra purrs her way, and your way too, Millie. I know it isn't easy living with a PO'd mommy.

I can't wait to see who is getting gizzys! Mommy tells me that I may get one by this summer. I am keeping my paws crossed!

  11. Whoo, Jan would be furious too. All that trouble for a label you didn't even use.

Buddy, Merci and Samaritan say they'll be glad to come help your mom eat that "disgusting" food next time. But we felines side with you, Millie.

  14. Millie, those are beautiful! We heard that Mu Shue, Lilly Lu & Iris were getting us a Bizzy quilt ... is one of those ours?

And thank you so much for your birthday wish to my sisterbean! All the kitty greetings made her and my mom have happy eye leaks instead of sad. My mom said she and your mom have a lot in common. I like it that my mom is a single mom -- it means I don't have to share her attention with some manbean!

  15. Mom says that the PO is a pain in the rump. She used the automated package machine. It charged her $1.99 to send an envelope ... and then the recipient got a bill for an additional 32¢ because there was insufficient postage. Bah!

Oh, an' our Chargers are wearin' their long undies for their trip to New England to challenge your pals ... the guys named "Pat." Our Chargers are bringin' their A game, so it will be quite a contest.

An' I gave you an AWARD, too! Stop by for deeeeetails!
