Five Years Ago!

Quick! What were YOU doing five years ago today?

Can't remember?

Well, I CAN!

FIVE YEARS AGO today, I got hit by a car as I was crossing the street. It broke my leg, and dislocated my hip. It was TERRIBLE! I couldn't move! Cars were driving by, and I was screaming and scared. I thought sure another car would hit me and I would go to the Bridge!

But then something wonderful happened. A man picked me up and carried me to safety. He tried to find my home, but I didn't have a home. I was homeless. I was a wild kitty. I was a Feral. Some people think it's okay to kill feral cats. I was terrified. I couldn't run. I couldn't hide. I couldn't save myself.

When the Man couldn't find my home, he picked me up and brought me to the Animal Hospital.

I needed a new kitty hip, and they don't come cheap. The Man asked his friends if they could help with the green papers. To his surprise, and my everlasting gratitude, they did. They told their friends, and their friends told their friends until my story went around the world, and more than a thousand green papers flew to the Man to pay for my bionic hip.

The Man and his friends had a contest to give me a forever name. That's how I got my name, "Millie."

The Man is named Malcolm, and he is my Hero. Who would have thought that what started as one of the worst days of my life, could turn out to be one of the best!

Five years ago today. Nope, no way am I ever gonna forget that day. Happy Rescue-versary to me!

Thanks Malcolm!

  3. It's a fabulous story Millie and I love hearing it re-told. It says wonderful things about strangers helping strangers (and kitties). But of course, it gets better, because you got yourself a forever mom, and in the past five years, you've had a wonderful, positive impact on her life too.

    Hi Millie,

You know how lucky you are. Not too many kitties survive encounters with cars. And then all those seemingly unconnected things that happened next--Malcomb, the nice hospital, all the nice people with green papers...and FINALLY, your MOM. Definitely worth celebrating!! Make us believe there is magic out there.
