Rain

It was raining this hard all night. Can you see the water running down the hill? It was just like that. I think Mom might need boots AND her umbrella when she goes day hunting later. It was pounding on our metal carport and the awnings. It splashed on the screens in the sewing studio. Mom opened the door to the front porch so I could check it out.

We needed the rain, but not like this.

(btw, this photo was taken in May. It was too dark to get a picture of what it really looked like.)

Tuxie Tuesday

Hey, what can I say? Life doesn't get much better than this.

Millie Monday

I am sorry I did not post over the weekend. Mom was out doing errands and then she had to update her new phone.

I was mostly here on the kitty condo although I did spend a lot of time next to her on the couch getting scritches while she watched my pals, the guys named Pat demolish the poor Jags. Every time my pals, scored Mom jumped up and I ran away. Since the guys named Pat scored every time they had the ball, I did a lot of running. But I always got back on the couch for more scritches.

Last night Mom kept running in and out to watch the Moon turn red. Did you see it?

Thing Thursday

It's that time of year again...

Mom has plugged in the heated cat cup. Now she has to convince me to get into it.

Mom put some treats in it to tempt me, but it is my prerogative as a cat to do as I want when I want.

Heh.

Tuxie Tuesday

It's chilly out. I slept right next to Mom last night. Not ALL night, mind you, but for a lot of it. Her bed is big, so there's room for both of us, and it's nice and warm.

Millie Monday

Mom finished washing ALL the windows in the house. Yesterday she dragged the rug sucking monster around.

You don't think I stayed around for that, did you?

Chilly Saturday

It was 55F (12.7C) when we got up this morning, so Mom didn't open the porch door all the way, but she was nice enough to make sure I could go out there and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells.

Mom is reading The Martian so she hasn't been doing much of anything else, including helping me with my blog. It seems to me that my needs and desires are significantly more important than whether or not a fictional astronaut gets off Mars alive, but with Mom's nose deep in the book, it's sometimes hard to tell.

Friday Follies

Mom saw this pig on a leash at the health food store. She thought it was funny. Mom says pigs are very smart and very clean. In that way they are like cats. However, I would never allow myself to be put on a leash. I have a bit more self-respect.

These gigantic birds are not hawks. They are turkey buzzards and they eat dead stuff. It was hot, and one of them was cooling himself off by extending his wings. Mom says they have been flying around the neighborhood a lot lately. I am very happy to be an indoor kitty.

Thinking Thursday

I am thinking that summer is almost over, and that means I won't be able to sit on the porch.

So I am going to enjoy it as long as I can.

Tuxie Tuesday

I love my kitty condos.

Millie Monday

Mom goes back to her day-hunting gig today. She was furry bizzy on her staycation. She brought the metal masheen for a checkup, got the heating monster ready for winter, fixed the door on the shed, weeded the veg garden and brought me to the v-e-t. And all that was just the first week.

Then she rearranged the stuff in the shed, washed all the windows in the house and organized the cupboard over the washing monster. She cleaned the studio, brought Mim-may shopping twice (once before she hurt her hip and once after), and replaced the wreath on the front door.

We watched my pals, the guys named Pat, hoist their fourth Super Bowl banner, win their first game of the season and rooted for Roger Federer in the tennis.

Mom baked a batch of homemade granola, some bread and two batches of cookies. She made spaghetti sauce and meatballs.

Oh, and did I tell you she made seven quilts?

I'm kinda glad I'm going to have the house to myself, because it's been tiring just watching her.

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Sleepy Sunday

So here I am on Mom's bed. She was sleeping, and I was next to her. It was good.

Feline Friday

I have three cat hammicks, and I love them all. This one is in the sewing studio, and I was napping there while Mom was sewing.

Holy Carp! Mom's staycation is almost over. That went by quick!

Whatzit Wednesday

Mom has been so bizzy this week she hasn't taken any pictures of me.

OK, I guess I was wrong.

She put the brick edging around her shade garden, washed half the windows in the house, and weeded this raised garden bed. It was ALL weeds. She says the evil Lymes really slowed her down this summer.

I have had it good though, I've been getting lots of treats and scritches and I have been sleeping on the big bed right next to Mom. It's pretty nice.

Spiffy Saturday

After meowing at Mom all day Thursday, and napping under the bed for the last two days, and sleeping with Mom for the last two nights, (yes, really) I'm out and about again.

Mom and I have another week of staycation together, and it is supposed to be sunny and hot.

Heh.

Oh Poop!

Dear Max,

After trying to emulate you for almost nine years, I finally did it. I pooped at the stabby place when the v-e-t was squeezing my tummy. But I digress.

Instead of napping contentedly this morning, I should have been paying attention. Mom came into the room and picked me up and placed me in the crate (just like that!) Then we went for a ride in the metal masheen and I was brought to the stabby place. Naturally I howled my displeasure the entire ride.

Once we got there, I was forced to wait while all kinds of woofies came in and out. One of them wanted to sniff me, but I objected strenuously.

After forever, I was brought into an exam room and placed on a very cold metal table, where I had to wait and wait and wait. Mom took advantage of me by petting me with two hands at the same time which I have never permitted.

I was not amused.

After another interminable wait, two very nice ladies (I have to admit it. They were very good to me.) came in and started poking at me. They brushed my furs, squeezed my tummy (that's where I pooped on the table), looked at my teeths and eyes and listened to my heart. The lady v-e-t actually put some drops UP MY NOSE!!! It was positively demeaning.

Aside from some tartar on my teeths, I am in excellent shape, and was deemed "perfect."

Like that's a surprise.

Tuxie Tuesday and a Mim-may Update

It was hot and sticky here in New Hampster yesterday and the weather guys say it will be like that all week. The recliner in the sewing studio is a comfy and cool place to nap, so I am hanging out here.

Mim-may came through surgery with flying colors and she could go home very soon. She has two screws in her hip, and the surgeon said, "That's going to hurt."  Mim-may says it does, but it's better than the alternative.

Ask me how I know this.

(for those that do not know, I have a titanium rod in one of my legs after it got broken when I was hit by a car.)
