The Heating Monster

The heating monster in this house lives in a closet next to the washing machine. Apparently it has been unhappy, because it stopped working in the middle of the day.  Mom got home from day hunting and the house was 61F inside. We usually keep it at 67F. Mom called the heating monster v-e-t's and they sent somebody over (at very expensive so-called "emergency" rates because it was after 5:00 PM).

The guy came in and fiddled with it, then he went outside and fiddled with the tank that holds the food for the heating monster. He fiddled some more and got it working. All good. Happy happy joy you.

Then yesterday it did it again. Mom called the heating monster v-e-t's and again agreed to pay the very expensive so-called "emergency" rates because it was after 5:00 PM. Hey, Mom goes day hunting during the day. It's kinda sorta not fair.

Anyway last night another HM V-e-t came over and he fiddled for along time and got it going. He said it needed some fine tuning. Not only did he get it working, but it isn't as noisy as it was before. As long as it makes heat, I'm happy.

Anyway, there is still snow on the ground outside, but the next guess is for Sunday April 5, and that's my birthday. I will be NINE! I think it will be a terrific birthday present if the snow is gone by then.

Remember, the rules state that THE DAY will be the day Mom looks out the window and sees NO SNOW! Although you get to see the house across the street every day, this isn't the only snow we can see outside.

Oooh - not good when the heating monster needs emergency home visits from the vet. But ... it does make me wonder whether your mom might be able to arrange for a home visit next time you need a vet. For your annual check and such like. It would certainly save all the hassles of putting you in the PTU. Take a leaf out of the heating monster's book, Millie - just be too big and too difficult to be packed up and taken!

Seems s bit mean to charge you when it was not really fixed the first time.

We hate it when the heating monster has an "off" day and we shiver until the engineer comes and does his magic too Millie!

I agree with Georgia and Julie about the heating monster vet charging again. Not fair!! We keep a maintenance agreement on the heating monster with the local power company. You might tell your Mom to check it out.
