2013 Wrap Up

2013 has been a busy year for Mom and me.

In January, Mom did lots of tippy-tapping.

We had a lot of snow in February.

Mr Karate came home in March and brought Rubylocks,

and Mom bought me a kitty condo.

In April we traveled to Mary-land to visit Monty's fambly.

In May Mom cleaned out the kitchen cabinets. (I napped)

In June, Mom fussed over her garden.

In July we watched Andy Murray win Wimbledon.

In August we traveled to Catifornia to visit Mr Karate, Rubylocks and Yoda.

In September I discovered the Pacific Ocean.

In October Mom and I traveled to Mem-fiss and Saint Loo-eee and saw the Gateway Arch.

In November I helped Mom finish up some quilts.

In December I helped Mom decorate for Christymas.

It's been an exciting year. I traveled to fourteen states and got my very own busy-ness cards,

2013 has been a Very Good Year. Good bye 2013. Hello 2014.

Happy New Year!

Does This Look Like "Easy" to You?

On Sunday mornings, after Mom gives me my foods, do you know what she does?  She goes into the kitchen and makes a mess. She does all kinds of stupid stuff.  When she's all done, she helps me write a blog post, but by then it's almost lunchtime. I thought you deserved to know why my posts are often late on Sunday mornings.

This morning Mom took all kinds of stupid greenish stuff out of the cold box and cut it up. She cut up potatoes, carrots, parsnips, squash, onions, mush-rooms, something called a leek, celery and parsnips, and garlic. Then she put it in a big pan and shoved that in the hot-as-hell box.

They stayed in there for a long time, and then Mom took them out and put them in a giant pot she got as a present for Christymas, put water and soy sauce, peppercorns, bay leaves and yukky parsley in with it.  Do you know what will happen next? The stuff will boil and smell up the whole house. And after that? Mom is going to throw the cut up vegies AWAY and keep the WATER they cooked in.

Go figure.

Mom's pretty pleased with herself about it. Dunno why. Sounds kinda silly to me.

And while that boiling was happening, Mom mixed a bunch of other junk in a big bowl. Oats, nuts, pumpkin seeds, coconut and cinnnnna-nninnina-mon and nutmeg. Then she added maple syrup and coconut oil, and now that stuff is in the hot-as-hell box.

Mom will add some stupid dried cranberries to it and then it will be "granola."

Granola, smanola, I'd rather have stinky goodness and 'Nip any day of the week.

After this Mom will clean the gigantic pile of dishes she made, have herself some breakfast and pronounce the morning "Good." Heck, the morning was "Good" before she made all that mess, but hey, she's my Mom and I love her.

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Saturday Caturday

Sorry I've been away. Mom got a cold on Christymas Eve and has been feeling poorly. She went day-hunting on Boxing day, but her Boss told her to go home, so she spent a lot of time sacked out on the couch.  Here's proof:

(In case you all didn't think I take good care of my Mom.)

She's feeling better today, so she doesn't need me to hold her down. She's off spending the green papers that are trapped in all those plastic cards she got for Christymas.

Speaking of which. Remember Homer, the blind cat? His person wrote a book about him. Well, his person wrote another book, and this one is a story seen through a cat's point of view. Mom and I read it, and it's very good. It is called Love Saves the Day, and you can find all about it here. For you Kindle owners who have not read about Homer, Amazon has a special deal where you can get both books for the price of one.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a heated cat cup and a nap I want to get back to...

(What did I get for Christymas, you ask?  I got a stocking full of spiffy treats and 'Nip. The perfect gift.)

Holiday Photos

This is Mr Karate and Rubylocks modeling the hats they were given for Christymas.

As you can see, Mr Karate is very silly.

This is Mim-may and Missy-the-woofie enjoying the quilt Mom made for them.

This is Auntie Karate and my fur-cousin Roxy, who tried to lick the plates when Mom and Auntie Karate were putting them in the dishwasher. Roxy will eat anything.

Really. Anything.

Here's PlusOne, who loves nothing more than a gigantic pile of mashed potatoes.

Lastly, here I am enjoying my heated cat cup.

Happy Boxing Day!

Santa Tracker!

It is already Christmas in many places in the world, and I am tracking Santa Claus as he makes his deliveries.  You can track him at NORAD, or on Google.

I can't wait.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Easy Like Sunday

Mom's got all her Christy-mas preparations finished. The presents are all wrapped and are under the Christy-mas tree. I can see a bulge in my Christy-mas stocking, so I know there's something in there for me. There's homemade bread rising in the kitchen

Mom even finished the quilt she was working on.  All that's left now is the cleaning up.

Heh.

Saturday Quality Testing

Before the Holidays, I tend to be extra-busy checking Mom's quilts for Love, Kindness, Softness, Comfort and Warmth. (I also have to make sure they get an adequate coating of my furs.) A Quality Assurance Cat's job is a tough one, but somecat has to do it.

Furry Family Friday

This is my fur-cousin Obiwan. He lives with Mr Karate and Rubylocks in Catifornia. Obiwan is enjoying the quilt Mom sent to Mr Karate and Rubylocks for Christymas.

I am glad to see everybuddy is enjoying the quilt. Mr Karate says it has been "cold" out there in Catifornia lately, so this is perfect for them. Mom is very happy the quilt will be well-loved.

Thursday Thing

Hey! I'm over here in Mom's sewing studio today!

Mom and I sent a box of these to Mr Karate and Rubylocks. I always knew chocolate was like 'Nip for Beans, but I never thought chocolate dipped strawberries were like extra special super duper heavy duty 'Nip.

Now I know!

Happy Holidays!

Wednesday Wonder

It's HERE! It's HERE! The tree is here.
I had to inspect it very carefully.

 Ok, looks good so far.
Mom really likes that the lights are already on the tree so she doesn't have to wrestle with them.
Here it is, all decorated. Mom is very happy.

Me too.

This and That Tuesday

No tree yet. Mom says it should arrive on THURSDAY.  I thought it would be here by now.  (sigh)

We should be getting more snow today. It will start after Mom goes day-hunting and snow all day. "They" say we could get between 2 - 6 inches. Ick.

The temperatures should be getting back to "normal" by the end of the week.  Good thing.

Now if  you'll excuse me, I have napping to catch up on.

Millie Monday

Well! The snow is over for a day or so, but tomorrow is supposed to be really (really) cold.

How cold? Tomorrow morning it is supposed to be -2F!! (That's -19C!)

I'm glad I'm an indoor kitty with lots and lots of nice warm places to nap.

A White Sunday

OK, so the idea of a "White Christymas" is really a fantasy. We do get them, but rarely. Usually were we are here in New Hampster, we don't get that kind of snow until AFTER Christmas.  I think this year we're gonna have a white Christymas, though. Here is what it looked like last night at 11 PM. It had started snowing lightly at dinnertime.

No, Mom didn't go outside or open the window to take this picture. She took it right through the glass. (For the When When pictures, she does open the window.)

When we both woke up this morning at 8 AM, she took this picture. It hard to tell how much snow there is, although it's easy to see there is a LOT. Mom says the snow is probably deeper than I am tall. It is not snowing now, but the storm may still drop more snow.

One of the very nice things about waking up with this much snow on the ground is that it's quiet. The snow muffles the sound and it's very peaceful. It will stay that way until folks start their snow-throwing machines and shoveling their driveways, and the monster snowplows go by and shake the house.

Crap

I mean, SNOW.

Frigid Formerly Feral Friday

It is really cold out. It is 9F outside (that's almost -13C).  That's the kind of cold we usually have in late January. The average high temperature here in December is 38F (3C) and the average low temperature is 20F (-6.7C).

I am trying to stay warm on my fleecy pillow in the warmest room in the house.

I cannot tell you just how happy I am that I am a formerly feral kitty.

Thursday Thing

I nap anyplace I want.  From this spot I can see everything.

Still no tree yet, but Mom says it's coming. It is due NEXT WEEK!

It's Coming...

Oh lookit! It's my Christy-mas stocking. It is WAY bigger than any of my feets. I can't wait to see what Mom fills it up with.

No tree yet, but I'm on the lookout.

PS, My holiday header was created by the wonderful Zoolatry!

Millie Monday

Once a month, Mom takes my litter boxes apart (one at a time) and washes them in the rainbox. She uses some stinky smelly anti-bac-bug cleaning stuff to get rid of all the stinky stuff. Then she rinses the parts and dries them all off.  After that she puts each Breeze box back together, puts the Breeze pad in the little slot, then dumps a bag of Breeze pellets and puts the cover back on. (Mom puts a new pad in the box each week, but the pellets only get changed once a month.)

While Mom does that, I am usually far away taking a nap in someplace comfy. My Mom's pretty cool.

Mom says Mr Brown will be bringing The Tree later this week.  I can't wait. I want to see that happen.  AND... Mom has moved the pointy-plants so I can't reach them. Frostin says they are terrible, horrible, no-good, very, very, very bad plants for cats to eat. How bad? How about a one-way ticket to the Rainbow Bridge bad?  Yikes!  Anyway, they are someplace I can't get to, which is fine by me because I plan to be here for a while.

Simply Sunday

I'm enjoying being at the top of my kitty condo and watching the world go by. Mom is getting the Christy-mas decorations up. We've never had one of these pointy-settas things before.

Mom put the Santa out right after Turkey Day. She wanted it where she could see it every day, so she decided to put it in the living room.

Have yourselves a nice lazy, easy Sunday.

Formerly Feral Friday

I don't mind posing for Mom when she takes pictures with her iFone. It doesn't flash bright lights into my eyes and it takes nice pictures too.

I'm a lucky formerly feral feline. I have a great home and a spiffy kitty condo.  Mom says I'm overdue for a visit to the v-e-t. That wouldn't be a big deal if she could just pick me up anytime she wanted, but I'm not that kind of kitty. In that case, I'm still just plain feral.

Gymnastics

I like doing gymnastics on the top of my kitty condo. Sometimes Mom gets a good picture, like this one.

But sometimes it's a silly one!

Enjoy your Thursday.
