Holey Moley Monday!

WHAT? Whaddya mean, we're gonna have MORE SNOW on Tuesday and Wednesday and you want to spend the time with me in my hammock?

Mom, you -know- there's only room for me!

Oh dear, I think my poor Mom is gonna lose it for sure...

Snoozy Saturday

It's warm outside (above freezing), the sun is out, the snow is melting a little bit. Mom's been watching tennis while she sews, and I'm napping. It's a perfect day.

Finally Friday!

Here's what it looks like outside this morning:Lots of snow. It has been a very snowy January, as you can see from this graphic from the news.
Concord is about a 20 minute drive north of here, and is the only place in the state of New Hampster where the official weather records are kept.

The good news is there is no snow in the forecast for the next few days. Mom was so happy she brought her new metal masheen for a bath.

It's another one of those I'm-so-glad-I'm-a-Cat moments!

Thinking Thursday

We're supposed to have a little bit of snow today. Supposed to have between 2 - 4" (5 - 10 cm).

What did we get? 7" (17.78cm).

And if that wasn't bad enough, Roger Federer lost in Australia.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Oh No Wednesday!

Oh no, more snow coming!

Oh no, no Nadal! (He lost is quarterfinal match at the Australian Open.)

On no, Mom's iron died! (She needs it to sew.)

Oh, no Mom. I'm not moving.

Tuxie Tuesday

This fabric needs a good coating of my furs...

Hey gang, my pal Bubbles, one of my oldest blogging buddies, is very sick. I would appreciate it a lot if you could go visit and leave some purrs.

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

It's -9 F outside this morning. (-22 C) I intend to spend the day here, in my heated cat cup.

Mom has to go day hunting.

Can I say again how glad I am to be a cat?

Snowbank Saturday

Just thought you'd like to see how much snow we have here in New Hampster. It's a beautiful day out. Sunny, blue skies, no wind, and the temperature is 25F (-3.8 C).

The snowbanks are so high, it is hard for anybody in a metal masheen to see if there is a car coming to turn onto a street.

For Ayla and Iza who asked a few days ago, the When When Contest usually starts in March, if there's enough snow on the ground.

You Have Got To Be Kidding Me Friday

More freaking snow.
but wait... there's more!

It's supposed to be minus 13 F on Monday! (That's -25C. And yes, that's frickin' cold!)

Thursday Thought

I like sitting on this comfy aff-ghan, watching the feather toy Mom is dragging around.

I'm done chasing it, but she doesn't know that!

Not Wordless Wednesday

Snow occupies space. This fact is lost on many who do not live with the stuff.

You should see the big pile of snow in the back yard. I'll show you a picture when it gets light enough for Mom to take one.Holy Bast! See that fence at the far right? That's six feet tall (over 183 cm). And see that coating on Mom's metal masheen? That's a layer of ice! And on the ground... ice!

Tuesday Tennis

It's all Tennis, all the time here. Mom's watching the Australian Open. It's a lot more interesting than watching the snow fall.

Yeah, we got more snow coming today, and freezing rain. Yuk.

Millie Monday

Dear Megan,

I do nap a lot. It's in my job description. However, I also practice Yoga faithfully.

Sunday Dusting

When it snows a little bit like this, it is called a "dusting." That big pile of snow in the background is over six feet tall (that's almost 2 meters for my Aussie pals).

Last night Mom was so involved with sewing she forgot to feed me my dinner! I had to remind her. Can you imagine?

Snoozy Saturday

It's nice and sunny here (although it is very cold out, 20F, -6.6C). When it's sunny, I like to nap in my cat hammock. Later, I'll move to my tent, and after dinner I'll nap in the heated cat cup.

Formerly Feral Friday

Yes, Megan, my Mom is a patient lady. When I came to live here over four years ago I was a feral kitty. Mom wanted a lap cat, but she got me instead. I didn't do laps then, and I don't do them now. Mom learned early on that if she wanted my trust, she would have to earn it. She did that by NOT trying to get close to me, and by NOT trying to touch me and NOT trying to pick me up. She learned that I always need to have an "escape route" from any room, and she's learned not to block the "escape route."

I have taught her WHEN I want to be petted, WHERE I want to be petted, and HOW LONG I want to be petted. Mom has learned those rules, and we get along fine. Last night, for example, I lay down next to her while she was in bed sleeping.

While I often tease my Mom, I know she's one smart cookie (that's a term of endearment). She made me the tent way back in September 2007. You can read about it here. I didn't use it then because of the escape route thing. But now, years later, I use the tent when I am alone in the house. What can I say? It's a great napping spot. I love having different napping spots.

She bought me the heated cat cup years ago, and I didn't like that when it was new either, but Mom is persistent, and one day I just discovered how nice a napping spot it was.

So yeah, it's good to be formerly feral, but better if you have a very smart, and patient Mom.

Thursday Thought

The snow finally stopped after dark last night. This is what it looks like this morning. Mom usually waits until there are no metal masheens in the street when she takes the picture, but today, she wanted you to see how high the snow is.

Where was I hiding out during the snowstorm? In my tent!

Mom made the tent about four years ago, and I liked it as much as I liked the cat cup.

The Heated Cat Cup

Mom bought me the heated cat cup over three years ago. Like any good cat, I ignored it for about two years. But now I like love it.

Mom bought it at Fosters & Stearns, but I bet you can get it cheaper elsewhere. So Spitty, make a play for it! You're a cat. You deserve it.

The Hot-As-Hell Box

This is the hot-as-hell box. It lives in the kitchen. Mom uses it to make things smell good. On Saturday, Mom cooked muffins in it. On Sunday she put a pan of beef in the hot-as-hell box to make beef stew. (It would have been delicious if she hadn't added stupid things like potatoes, carrots, celery, mushrooms and rutabaga.)

Later Mom baked a cake and then a loaf of English Muffin Bread in it.

The hot-as-hell box does not heat the house. That job is for the heating monster, and it lives in the basement. Mom says it eats green papers.

Snoozy Saturday

It's snowing out. Mom's got the hot-as-hell box going, and I'm napping in my heated cat cup. It's a great day for snoozing!

Friday, January 07, 2011

Formerly Feral Friday

Mom is trying to get me to pose for the camera. You see how well that works. I may be formerly feral, but I'm still a cat, for heaven's sake!

Woo Hoo! Lookit me! I went day hunting with Mom! Here I am sitting on her desk. (Hey Mom, you need a newer picture of Mooshie. He has lots of hair now!)I was a very good girlcat. I didn't knock anything over. That was really hard. There was LOTS of stuff I could have whapped. Mom has TWO computers at her desk! So silly!

I did a little exploring. This room is for talking. Which I think is pretty lame; everycat knows you can talk anywhere you want, but at Mom's day hunting gig, there are special rooms for it. Very weird. I would take a nap on that nice windowsill and watch the birds outside.

I really wanted to meet the servants Mom keeps talking about. Here are some of them. They weren't particularly friendly. I kept telling them to scootch over and make room for me, but they didn't move. Servants my eye! Dummies, more like!
This could be a lot of fun! Mom said No.

I have to say, Mom does absolutely NOTHING all day long! All she did was take a big pile of papers, write squiggles on them, and move them from one spot on her desk to the other. Yeah, she tippy-tapped on the computer all day too, but really, when she was done she didn't have ANYTHING to show for it. It was a really dull day. No wonder she never brings home anything interesting. Nothing interesting ever happens!

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Mom's feeling a lot better. She went day hunting yesterday, and then had a mamma... mammo... mammigra... oh.. mammogram last night. She got home late, and I let her know it was past my dinnertime!

This is what it looks like outside. The temperature is 22F (-4.4C). It should be a nice day today. Sunny, and the temps are supposed to go up to about 33F (that's .5C for my Aussie pals!)

I'm going to stay inside!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Hi everybody!

I was so excited about being in Australian Homespun magazine, that I posted about it a day early! Some of you wanted to read the article, so Megan left me this note in the comments. I am showing them here so you all have the information.

Millie - you and Monty look fabulous in the article. Thank you so much for allowing me to write it.

I am mindful that not a lot of patchwork/craft shops in the USA stock the magazine. However, it is possible to buy single issues online from several USA-based stores. They include:

Ericas at

and Stonehouse Publications

However, you have received a copy of this issue prior to its general release. It will only be going on sale here in Australia tomorrow, January 5. It typically takes about another month for it to become available in the USA. For those who are interested in following up, the issue number to look for is: Homespun Vol 12 #1.

I'll send you a note when it's available online in the USA so that you can remind your readers if you wish.

Millie & Monty Monday!

Woo Hoo!

See this magazine? It's the January 2011 issue of Australian Homespun magazine. It is a very nice magazine. See that pink bookmark? Open the magazine up to that page...
and... TA DA!
An article about Monty and me (and our Moms, of course, since they help us out with blogging.) I am very excited. Mom is, too. She's been telling everybody about it, and showing the magazine to all her family and friends. The nice lady who wrote the article, Megan Fisher, is a regular commenter on my blog. She sent Mom a "preview copy" of the magazine. Thank you Megan! The article is terrific!

Mom's feeling much better today. She has taken the Christymas decorations down, and will be packing them away. I will be playing under the tree as long as I can.

Dizzy Mom

Hi everybody. I'm fine, but Mom's cold has made her dizzy. She says even looking at the computer makes her feel a little crazy, so she's gonna spend the day in the recliner watching the picture box and napping.

Me? I'm just gonna nap.

It's warm out, the snow is melting, we both have foods, the house is warm. It's all good.

Happy New Year!
