A Momentous Event!

I've lived here in New Hampster with Mom for 1,643 days (that's four years, five months, twenty-eight days and twenty-two hours).

Yesterday, Wednesday February 2, 2011 a very momentous event occurred.

I sat in Mom's lap for the very first time.

Not walked across it. Not stood on it, but curled up and made myself comfortable.

I might even do it again sometime, but I don't think I'll wait sixty-eight million four hundred seventy-nine thousand three hundred twenty-five sleeps before I do it again.

The details: Mom didn't make a sound (if she coughs when I am sitting next to her I jump away). She didn't squee, she didn't wiggle, she just petted me and told me I was wonderful. I'm pretty sure she was smiling. She did look around for the camera, but it was in another room (heh.) I stayed in her lap about five minutes while Mom petted me and gave me scritches. Some noise
startled me, and I jumped off.

Oh, and, this is what it looked like after the snow stopped falling yesterday afternoon.

Millie - I'm not sure that even "momentous" covers this dramatic turn of events. It's sensational news. Do tell: what caused you to give lap sitting a whirl? Did you enjoy it? What did you mom say - did she squee with delight? How long did the lap sitting last? What was the best thing about it?

We're gonna hold the front page for this - it's ginormous news. Congratulations. I hope your mom is right tickled!

Wow - bigggggggggggggg news. I do that to my mum occasionally, so she lets me have temptations when I visit her lap, and it encourages me to do it more.

I am sure that you will be on your Mom's lap as often as possible now that you have found out what it feels like! Good girl! ( I bet Mom was pretty chuffed about it, too !)

Millie, I've followed your blog from the very first day and hoped -- for 1,643 days -- that someday you would curl up on your mom's lap. Hooray! Reading about this is a great way to start my day.

Yay Millie! This really is something to be celebrating! It is so good that you sat on your mom's lap - oh she must have been so so happy! We are impressed she didn't do anything to startle you - our mom is the same way when Virgil sits in her lap (which isn't often, but is more often then you sitting on your mom). We are super excited you did!

Oh, and our mom is going to email your mom about Hugo at some point - we heard he is visiting you next and she just wants to check a couple things.

After so many sleeps, this IS stupendous news! Maybe the snow made you seek out 'warm blooded furniture' as Teri thinks we think of her lap as. Whatever the reason, may there be more lapsitting in your future plans!

Wow..I bet you not only made her day but her whole month!

Millie,
We are so happy for you and your Mom. When our Lola, the psychoblonde cat that has hated our MamaCat for years, finally crawled up on MamaCat and sat on her lap. MamaCat just cried and cried she was so happy. You just don't know how much this means to your Mom!!
