Too Hot Tuxie Tuesday

It's hot and sticky. So the windows are open, and I like that. I can smell the outside smells and hear the birdies outside.

Mom had a fun day at her day hunting gig yesterday. Two of the servants, who usually take quick naps on Sunday, didn't wake up in time. I guess they were so sleepy they crashed. Good thing Mom still has "the magic stuff" to get them back on the job.

Miffed Millie Monday

Mom visited one of her quilty friends yesterday. You can read all about it on her quilting blog.

Mom met Cally and Maggie, both Ragdolls.

They don't look like dolls.

They don't smell like dolls either.

(Mom's stay-cation is over, and she's back at her day-hunting gig today.)

The Fresh Stuff

You all know how much I love my 'Nip. Mom grows it for me. Yesterday she brought me the "trimmings" from my own 'Nip garden. You all know the dried stuff is good. The fresh stuff is pretty good too! Sometimes the littlest things can be the best!

****Four years ago today, I almost went to the Bridge. I got hitted by a car, and Malcolm rescued me. The rest, as they say, is history. You can read the story here, but be forewarned, it's long, so make yourself comfortable!

Stay-Cation, Day 8, Snoozy Saturday

Mom went to her favorite quilt shop yesterday. She came back smiling from ear to ear. She bought lots of fabric for a new quilt she will be making and a couple of spiffy quilting gadgets. Today Mom has to do the usual household chores, like food hunting and the washing machine shuffle, because tomorrow she'll be visiting another of her quilting buddies.

Me? I've been catching up on my napping.

Mom's bed is one of my favorite napping spots. We've been watching a lot of tennis, and it can be boring exhausting.

Stay-Cation, Day 7

It was Hot, hot, hot and sticky yesterday. Mom has been working in the sewing room while watching the Tennis. I think she's getting cabin fever because she's planning to make a trip to her very favorite quilt shop later.

This little pincushion arrived from Whiskeronsin. One of Mom's friends made it, and naturally, I had to inspect it.

It's Over!

It's over! The American, John Isner, won that epic marathon match at Wimbledon!

Wow! I am glad I will be able to say I watched the whole thing!

Too Pooped to Pop, Stay-cation Day 6

I was watching that marathon match at Wimbledon yesterday between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut. You know, the one that started on Tuesday and was called because of darkness... To win the fifth set at The Big W, you have to win by two games because there is no tiebreaker. Mr Isner & Mr Mahut played over six hours yesterday, still tied, until finally it got too dark to continue. The score in the fifth set is 59-59.

And they are going to continue today, until one of them wins.

I'm telling you, just watching was exhausting!

Have I told you lately how glad I am to be a cat?

Stay-Cation, Day 4

I am -so lucky- simply to be here today! You have No Idea! I almost died yesterday, watching Roger play at Wimbledon! Oh. Oh. Oh! It was positively heart-stopping!

I know you're going to say I should be rooting for Raffa, the young Spaniard, and I do like him very much, but my heart belongs to Roger. When I moved to my forever home almost four years ago and the tennis was on, I watched Roger, and I thought he was just wonderful.

So when Roger, the defending Champion, was two sets and a break down (in the first round at The Big W), and the other guy was serving for the match, my heart was in my throat. I almost couldn't watch! But Roger suddenly found his mojo and won the match.

Phew!

The rest of the day was very anticlimactic by comparison.

Stay-Cation, Day 3

If you want me, you'll find me napping any spot where I can see the telly. This is the first day of play at Wimbledon, and Mom and I will be watching. So how did Stay-cation Day 2 go? Unbelievable. Mom washed -four- windows, and even washed the windowsticks for three of them. They were so dirty, Mom put them in the bathtub! Yech!

However, Mom did attend Mr Karate's recital yesterday, where he played beautifully, and we watched the crazy golf-on-the-rocks final. Of course, Mom changed the sheets on the bed and did the washing-machine shuffle, made herself a nice dinner and then washed some (but not all) of the dirty pots and pans that are sitting on the kitchen counter. She's going to have to fuss over the stupid leafy green junk growing in dirt in the yard. My 'Nip is coming along beautifully, however.

Stay-Cation, Day 2

I did not think washing the windows was on the plan for stay-cation, but I might have been wrong about that. This is the kitchen window. Know what's wrong with it?Mom took the windows out last night to wash them.Yup, she washed them while she watched golf-on-the-rocks.
I don't get it. I'm doing -my- bit according to plan.

Mom says I should tell the -whole truth-.

In addition to washing a couple of windows, and putting a dimmer switch on the ceiling fan in the sewing room, Mom did some sewing yesterday, did a little food hunting, visited a quilt shop, and went to the movies with Mr Karate.

(Mom says Toy Story 3 is -awesome-; that watching the "Spanish" Buzz Lightyear alone is worth the price of admission, but the movie is not for kids under 4.)

They went out to dinner afterward, ate steak, bacon-wrapped scallops and ribs, did some clothes hunting for Mr Karate, and kitchen-gizmo hunting for Mom.

Mom says that was an awesome start to her stay-cation vacation.

So what's the plan for today? Well, after the obligatory change-the-sheets and empty-the- dishwasher and wash-another-couple-of-windows, it's go see Mr Karate & PlusOne play in their recital, and more sewing and more golf-on-the-rocks.

You can find me in the cat hammock.

Stay-Cation, Day 1

Mom's on Stay-cation. She is furry excited. She plans to do a lot of sewing, watching tennis, and visiting with some of her quilting friends. She also plans to sleep late every day.

I plan to get lots of scritches, leave my furs on all her quiting projects, and nap.

See any similarities?

Life Can Be Tough

Last night after dinner, Mom was on the computer, and I was napping in the cat hammock near my favorite window. We could hear the little sticky people running around outside, making lots of noise and and having fun. Then it got really quiet. Mom brought the trash out because Friday is garbage day, and saw three police cars outside, with their lights flashing. Cops were talking to a lady next door, who was crying. Another cop was talking to somebody else down the street. There was lots of pleading, lots of "It wasn't my fault" and "she did it and I'm the one getting into trouble." It went on for a long time. Mom and I do not know what happened, but somebody got a ride in the paddywagon.

I don't know what a paddywagon is, but I don't ever want to ride in one.

I'm so happy Mom loves me.

Weird Wednesday

There's a lot of stuff Mom's not good at. Mom says she isn't good at bookkeeping, but I don't believe her. This place is stuffed full of books. Mom get books from the man in the bloo shorts. (Right now she's mad at him. He didn't come to take the present for Monty's MomBean, for her birthday tomorrow. Now the present will be late and Mom is using words from the bad werds list.)

Anyway, Mom has an entire bookcase full of cookbooks! Last night Auntie Karate came over, like she does every week, and she and Mom do the books and give green papers to some guy named Bill that I have never met. Bill gets a lot of Mom's green papers. How Bill and keeping books are connected I have no idea.

Nor do I care to.

I'm so glad I'm a cat.

Bo-Ring!

Mom came home from day hunting yesterday made some dinner, and then sat down to read a book. I sat next to her and got scritches. She read and read and read, and I napped and purred and purred and purred.

Just before bed she wrapped a birthday present for a Very Special Person, and then it was bedtime.

No pictures!

Millie Monday

It's been cloudy and rainy for a week. Very dull. I'm taking it easy. Mom finished the Gizzy Quilts and has to send them out later, and she's got to wrap and then mail a present for a Very Special Person, whose birthday is later this week. Naturally I will snoopervise.

So, it's pretty normal around here.

Easy Like Sunday

OK! I got off the quilt. What do you want now?

Sleepy Saturday

Uh, Millie...What? I'm napping here. I'm not bothering anybody.

Millie, that's the Gizzy Quilt I have to finish.Yeah so? Do it later. Zzzz...

Formerly Feral Friday

It's Friday, and Mom can't wait for the weekend to be here. By the time she gets home after day hunting, it should be about 73F (22C). Mom's got her babes all matched up for the Doll Quilt Swap, and she's gonna spend as much time as she can in her sewing room. She's got a couple of Gizzy Quilts to finish, and I will be inspecting them very closely before they fly away.

What an interesting life I have as a formerly feral kitty!

Random Thoughts on Thursday

I have a few random thoughts today.

1. I guess I still have to be careful when I post pictures of my tummy. Poor Monty. First I forget his birthday, then this.

2. It's cold out. Really. It's like 52F out, which is like 11C. Damn cold for June, I'm telling you.

3. Mom's all wrapped up in swapping babies for the Doll Quilt Swap 9. You all know how she is... if it's not one thing, it's another.

4. OK, that's all I have time for, because Mom has gotta go day hunting. (She's gotta keep me in stinky goodness!)

Tuxie Tuesday

Mr Karate came over for dinner last night. Mom cooked Grilled Flank Steak with Ginger Marinade and grilled red onions and portobello mushrooms. They said it was delicious. I got some, and it was!

Crack and Boom!

According to the news, lots of places had bad crack-and-boom storms yesterday. There was a Tornado watch in New Hampster. Tornadoes in New Hampster???? That's like snow in Hawaii! It was crazy weather. It was sunny, then it got cloudy and windy, and rainy. Then it got sunny again, then it rained agai. What you can't see in this picture was that it was sunny at the same time it was pouring rain.
I found a good place to hide.

Raffa! Raffa! Raffa!

Raffa Nadal won the French Open today in a great match. Mom was bouncing up and down clapping and making lots of funny noises. She even said a few werds from the bad werds list.

Now she can settle down and I can get some good quality scritches.

It Must Be Love

I always know I am the luckiest kitty in the world (or at least in New Hampster) when Mom comes back from food hunting with this:Enough Beef stinky goodness for a week, beef temptations and two bags of party mix treats. There is a big tin of Iams crunchies nearby.

It must be Love!

Formerly Feral Friday

Mom and I have been watching a lot of Tennis. It's one of the (many) advantages of being a formerly feral kitty.

So who are we rooting for, now that our beloved Roger Federer, is out? Well, the guy who beat him, Robin Soderling, and Raffa Nadal. As for the ladies, Mom likes Samantha Stosur the Aussie.

Happy Friday!

Evil Intruder Kitty in New Hampster!

We have an Evil Intruder Kitty here in New Hampster. How do I know this?

I saw him!

Every year Mom puts a pot of flowers on the wide porch railing so she can look at something pretty while she eats. This is the pot she planted a couple of weeks ago. Geraniums and Impatiens. She also added some Dusty Miller a bit later.Last night I saw an Evil Intruder Kitty on my porch. I think he was trying to steal MY 'NIP! I was Not Happy.

The Evil Intruder Kitty just looked at me. Mom woke up, and came to see what was going on. It was a big fat black kitty with a white whisker hump. Together Mom and I scared the Evil Intruder Kitty away.
How did he get off the porch? He jumped up the the railing and then jumped down, knocking Mom's planter over.Mom tried to rescue it. I think it still needs work.

Mom did move some things around, so the Evil Intruder Kitty can't get up on the porch so easily again.

I shall be on the lookout. I think I need a small ginger SCUD missle.

Tuxie Tuesday

Yesterday Mom stayed home, and actually took some lessons from me. She didn't make the bed, which gave me a nice soft place to nap all day long, and she didn't even get dressed until suppertime. She did what she wanted most of the day. I was pretty impressed!

After supper, though, she reverted to a typical bean, and dragged out the rug sucking monster!

Oh well!
